...halve the players wages
It sounds simple, but if those players who have stated publicly that they want to stay are really sincere then a season of half wages would be a small sacrifice to pay. Sell those who don't want to do that and then we can keep the young uns.
It isn't rocket science that if the majority of the team that started yesterday played for us next season we would walk the league. Also look at the support they would receive once the fans realise that they are not all money grabbers (they will still earn more in a week than most of us do in 3-4 months). After a season, if we haven't gone up then they can go with their heads held high, or if we have they can negotiate new contracts.
