If he’s as good as Ake then he’ll attract the attention of top six clubs. That’s what makes Ake worth £40m, he’s deemed good enough to play in the champions league. Saying that, JOC’s only 26 so he’s probably got a good five years at the top level, pre-Covid I wouldn’t have been shocked if he’d gone for £40m but I don’t know how much the finances of clubs who haven’t had champions league income etc has been affected. For example, I’m sure he’d improve Palace but how much can they afford?
I genuinely feel like I’ve got less idea of what players are worth than at any point since I started watching football.

Ake is an established Dutch international with big club experience and 150+ PL games. In terms of reputation and having earned the trust he can handle the big games he's streets ahead of JOC.

Not saying he's better. But that fee (it was a release clause as well) is unrealistic for JOC I think

This summer is all up in the air I think the clubs that can afford to do so will stick to their pre covid valuations. I’ve no idea what others will do I expected clubs to liquidate assets last year to help mitigate covid losses and it didn’t happen I expect them to do the same this year so it probably won’t happen.

Who as an established Prem team wants to strip a club of players that have just been relegated?!

Of the above, I would say only Ake & Dacoure are good EPL players, Godfrey upcoming?

We didnt get stripped last year, having finished 9th, so who do we have

JoC - didnt get an offer after an amazing season, cant see an offer after 9 months out
Ramsdale - 2 relegations in 2 seasons, unlucky or contributor?
Egan - worry if Tarkoski moves on, Cahill retires etc
Berge - would love to see him here, but he didnt contribute to either of the last 2 seasons so guess jury is out?
McB - 2 bang average seasons in the EPL, and on good money
Brewster - cant see an offer

After those reckon a few mil would be an acceptable bid on any of the players, would be dissapointed to see Baldock go, Fleck likewise, but they havent pulled up trees in the last 2 years really?

I suspect Berges fate is sealed via a relegation clause, after that, as per last years relegated teams, 2 or 3 to go - Lunny is one, Mousse? Robinson? hopefully!
