There may be limited interest in our saleable assets, but agree won't be many players being chased by top flight clubs.
That could be of great benefit.
Maybe the Shammers, Everton and Villa won’t be interested in any of our players - particularly at the prices we’ll be demanding.

Apart from Berge I can not see why people think anybody would buy any player from a team that probably won't win 5 games all season

To be clear I never claimed I would be happy to sell Berge, I was trying to point out that IF we got an offer than got the investment back the club would probably take it AND if it was from the PL his agent would probably try and force it. I believe Berge could be the fulcrum of midfield in a very successful side in the right system, but he doesn't want Championship football and the club needs money. WTF do you think will happen if a bid comes in?

I despair at how many people think Berge would be happy to be playing in the Championship, just because it says the mighty Sheffield United on his pay packet.

I wasn’t aiming that post specifically at you, I’ve seen loads of people assuming Berge will leave in the summer.

If that’s the case then I’d hope we don’t bend over backwards at the first bid that comes in. Hopefully those days are gone.

The teams that went down last season all kept key players so why couldn’t we?

I’d be disappointed to see him leave as he’s potentially a top player and we’d have a much better chance of promotion next season with him in the team.

I think McB is most likely to leave tbh, he is in a position where we have a surplus, hasnt set the world on fire yet he will have a suitor in swansea who will go for him if they go up, what that deal looks like is the interesting thing... if we could blag Cabango in a p/ex deal with cash i think lets go for it

........ any of our players before next season?

JOC - hopefully he'll be here following a full recovery.
Berge - the same as JOC or will Villa be willing to pay more than we did for his services?
Egan - how much to Everton? £12 - £15 million - more?
Rammers - will West Sham pay more than we paid Bournemouth, however much that was?
Anyone else? Stevens, Baldock, Bogle, McBurnie (if Swansea go up), etc?

What with all that luverly money coming in, we could do a really, really good and thorough rebuilding job (assuming that was in the slightest bit necessary) and perhaps no one would need to put their hand in their own pocket even if there was a lot more than just a bit of fluff in there.

How will that affect CW as he does not want the team dismantled. Would he walk?

Maybe none of them will want to go, Wilder included.

JOC - Nobody will risk a punt on his fitness until at least January
Berge - will have already run down 18 months of his contract and with a drop in division his natural value WILL be less than what we paid, plus he probably has a relegation release clause in his contract so anybody expecting silly money for him this summer needs their head checking.
Egan - is he any better than what Everton already have? It's other clubs we should worry about (the three promoted teams, Cahill at Palace is not getting any younger, neither is Fernandez at Newcastle)
Rammers - go and play second fiddle to Fabianski? He won't go for that

Everyone under contract else will be staying unless we force them out.

No i apologise for that ,he's not as good as most on here seem to rave about , He never seemed to get going never grabbed a game by the scruff of the neck ...just my opinion
Berge shows a bit of quality from time to time but has struggled to influence games IMO.

I can see how he might be a top player in time but in the year he has been here he's looked really good in 2 games against Chelsea and Spurs. He's also made numerous mistakes that led to goals against with Bournemouth at home and WBA away being most obvious. He's also looked much better in the first half of games and seems to tire early.

I know we have only been missing the Championship for 2 seasons but I think some have forgot how competitive that league is. Regarding Berge he started his career at a 3rd tier Norwegian side before presumably being scouted to the Norwegian top tier. Then moving to the Belgian 1st tier, he has showed some promise when not injured but definitely not a master footballer. I would easily argue that we and most top playoff teams in the Championship/bottom teams in the Premiership would win the Belgian league if we were in it, like many European leagues (Scotland included) it comprises a couple of decent teams and the rest are below average, the odd shock may happen every now and then but thats the only thing that's new.

When we are relegated next season we are going to be competing with the 2 other clubs that come down, Brentford, Bournemouth, Cardiff, Middlesbrough and Reading will still be likely to be in there. Its not going to be easy plus you have more fixtures in the Championship . If the money comes in for Berge I would easily let him go as we need committed players for what potentially could be a long slog with a new manager. Fitness is going to be key so if there is a underling issue it needs to be solved in the next 9 games.

The key indicator is whether Berge is interested in knuckling down here next year will be if he plays another game this season. If he's on his way I can't see him worrying himself about getting back playing this season and potentially injuring himself.

As many have said, he'll have a release clause and I expect him to go but will be interesting to see if he's willing to play a few games this season if he's fit.

Amazing how many people offer opinion as fact 😂😂

JOC (if he wants toleave his agent will be more than happy to share his medical data), Berge, Baldock, Egan, Ramsdale, Bogle, Brewster (on his Liverpoolpotential), RND. I think they'd all make 25 man squads if PL teams so may attract interest

Berge thinks he's better than he is ...take the 20 million let him go
Stevens can go
Along with moose ,jags ,Billy(coaching role at the lane) Lundstrum,I'd like to see Rammers stay but if the money is right let him go ...
1 or 2 quality additions in midfield and we are back up in no time
Keep Rammers. At 20 he is an outstanding prospect

Billy Sharp isn't going to retire from football to be a coach. He's going to be scoring goals in L2 when he's 40.

I’d add McB and Didz to that list as well.

I get that they can share it, but will they be willing to risk £30-40M for him?
If we cave and accept £15-20M then I can see it, but not if we hold out for his true worth.

Ramsdale has taken time but he is starting to show his worth, we'd be daft to let him go I'd sell Berge and he probably has a cause saying he can leave. As for McBurnie no he's not set world on fire but look at Werner at Chelsea 58m, not exactly scoring for fun is he. I think we could see a different Mc B in Championship he's not crap as people suggest perhaps unlucky, I don't know.

I'd get rid of Mousset, Bournemouth sold us a right powder there I'd give Lundstram to Battersea Dogs Home, we have to sort out midfield BIG style. I've looked through our last 9 fixtures today and TBH I'm struggling to find one we could win, I hope I'm wrong and we go on a run of 9 wins oops time for me meds.

Or we could just try and keep everyone and try and get back up.

If we sell a few good ones then we definitely won’t be going back up

Teams like Brentford and indeed Bournemouth seem to set a high price for their talented players and stick to it or near enough. Berge may be the exception with a relegation clause but surely our board could put some prohibitive pricing on each of these players we want and see who really wants to test us. personally I hope we keep Rammers, the back three, Bogle and Brewster but would be happy to let McB, Norwood and Jack O'Connell leave (Lundstram will go anyway).

Realistically, relegation means some will leave.

I will be amazed if Berge hasnt got a release fee so if that is met he will go. I think a lot of us expect Mousett to leave and it wouldn't surprise me if Stevens left. Obviously some of the fringe players will leave as well as the out of contract ones like Jags,Lundstram,Rodwell and Bryan . I dont think JOC will leave as the type if injury he has had may mean he wont reach his previous standards and clubs will want to wait.

The priority will then be to form a new midfield and get in get a long term replacement for Bash and possibly JOC if he doesn't return to the form he previously had. We will also need a forward as BS and DM wo t be sufficient back up for RB and OM.

Who knows FB. If selling Berge, JOC and Baldock raised £50-60m and that money was put back into the squad I think I'd begrudgingly go along with it

Oddly if Wilder was here, I'd be more reluctant and pessimistic about us moving out "his" players. However while I'd be gutted to lose Berge and JoC if we got the right price and didn't sell cheap, so I'm talking £80M I'd probably shrug and get on with it.
While I love Furious, if we're keeping the 3-5-2 formation and he isn't going to be Bash's long term replacement, then Bogle is the better option on the right for the Championship.

I don't think £80m is realistic. I genuinely think £60m for the 3 would be good value. I think JOC is a superstar and if he could get back before the end of the season we may be able to play a few teams off against each other to push the fee up (Leeds, Villa, Leicester, Wolves?)

My valuation for JoC probably pushes up my estimation. A left footed English centre half has a premium in my opinion. Berge is £30M minimum.

Agree on Berge, you only have to look at the clubs already being named as interested that he is very well thought of. And in the right team, sadly not us, he'll be top class as he will most likely improve as a result of this experience. £30m would be a minimum, I did see something in the Star that estimated his worth at between £30m and £40m. If Nathan Ake is worth £41m as an example, it would be interesting to see how our board play it.

It'll depend if Berge has a relegation release clause. I have no idea.

I think JOC is great but I think we potentially overvalued him a little based on his lack of international, European or big club experience. He's as good as Ake but he's got nowhere near the reputation or experience

It's pretty thin, but I suspect not if the board are briefing Hemmingham that they want top dollar.
To then except £20M would be more egg on their face, which they can ill afford.

I think we've also forgotten how big the gulf between Championship and Premier League is in terms of quality. Norwich were a very poor Premier League side who leaked goals. They have gone down and looked unbeatable with Grant Hanley part of a watertight defence? Watford have lost Doucoure, Holebas Delefeou and Welbeck over the course of the season and chances are will finish second with no real plan. Like you say, the difficulty with the Championship is the number of games rather than the quality or intensity those games are played at. I fully expect Berge to dominate games if he we do get the pleasure of seeing him in the Championship particularly in person.

Hi Stegosaurus here,

For McBurnie we'll do well to get a Pot Noodle and a wank.

If he’s as good as Ake then he’ll attract the attention of top six clubs. That’s what makes Ake worth £40m, he’s deemed good enough to play in the champions league. Saying that, JOC’s only 26 so he’s probably got a good five years at the top level, pre-Covid I wouldn’t have been shocked if he’d gone for £40m but I don’t know how much the finances of clubs who haven’t had champions league income etc has been affected. For example, I’m sure he’d improve Palace but how much can they afford?
I genuinely feel like I’ve got less idea of what players are worth than at any point since I started watching football.
