How much money would it cost to start a new club?

I'm surprised they've never had any investment to be honest "worlds oldest football club". not many can match that claim

True but there are a few other clubs that still claim to be oldest in the football league and shit like that. Although Sheffield FC is the one recognized by FIFA.

FIFA recongnised eh? I'd imagine their board are probably holding them back if they're anything like Hallam FC they'll be a bunch of crooked local businessmen siphoning money out and fiddling the books. I've heard some tales about them

Sheffield FC are a great little club and there board are actually quite forward in the way they push the 'worlds oldest club' thing. They're in the Evo Stick First Division (3 below league two)

Maybe the knockers on here should be setting up a supporters trust to buy out the McCabe family.

Why should we be the ones to pay for KM mistakes? KM has got United in this mess and therefore should take a loss. If he was to be re-paid in full, it will only justify his actions of selling our stars as he took a risk / made a decision which to him doesn't matter as he hasn't lost anything.

If KM cred about the club, he should sell it for £1 and walk away

What and actually take some action? Don't be daft! Most of them would far rather sit here pissing and whinging about it, demanding McCabe just throws away his money, but won't actually come up with any idea to seek a resolution let alone a revolution

just as much as the "rose tinted" brigade who rather bend over and let KM take them up the arse and collect they money than make a sound that they are not happy with the club.

Chairman of football clubs are always going to get stick we will never change things they will just take there course.
Things this season have upset me. but it probably lasts an hour tops.
I only come on this forum to read comments about the team and performances and sometimes put my opinions forward.
All the doom and gloom brigade amuse me.
The Mcabe haters to me are pure wind up merchants or have serious mental health issues.
So here,s to next season I have a feeling its going to get better

But the "rose tinted" brigade like yourself is one of the reason why the club is in the state it is. Rather than complain and let KM know, you would rather let him make mistake after mistake, take your money and not say a word. If you had the club in your heart, you would say enough is a enough.

Which is the kind of post which makes me question why people bother with this forum.

I gave my two penneth the other day.

Reduce the selling price to £1 and throw the ground into the deal. However, make the proviso that once we are back in the Premier League the money now owed gets paid back at £10m per season for every season we are receiving Premiership money. This means a minimum of £50m (1 top flight and 4 parachute) and a maximum to be agreed.
This means someone (even a fans consortium) can come in with no debt worries and can invest in the playing side of the club and McCabe can sit back and support his beloved Blades knowing his family will be the main beneficiaries of our return to the top flight when we can actually afford it.

As the alternative is either sell for £50m now (to who?) or keep on "investing" (how much more?) it seems there is no easy way out that is acceptable to enough people to make it happen.

Nice idea, but I do not think this would work as the new entity would start with a liability of £50m and to my mind the stadium and club are not worth that amount.

You can't start from an insolvent position, and nobody else would lend on this basis.

I cant make out whether that's a pop at me or Mjpacko Swiss.
Anyway I have followed the Blades for 48 years but these days I might go to a dozen games a season depending on how they are playing.
Nothing will change by slagging Mcabe and if his actions perturb people I feel sorry for them.
What shall we do organize demos!
Get a life.

Slagging no but if the fans got together and decided to boycott going to a match (unlikely as there are many fans like Swiss who are happy to give their money away by buying shirts and tickets, and just accept what's on offer) then KM will take notice. This is unlikely so the next best thing is when the crowds drop below 10k and KM has to put more money in to support the club as the gate revenue won't be sufficient.

And we will sink deeper into the mire. No good for anyone, there isnt an easy way out

To me football is about players and the fans.
Let the chairman and the board play their silly games I look forward to the next high the next quality player to get me down to the Lane.
There will be plenty to discuss with football this summer bollocks to the boardroom

If someone did start a new club or put some significant investment into Sheffield FC there would be more chance of them reaching the Premiership than McCabe's SUFC any time soon. Reading some of the posts on this thread confirms apathy truly rules around this club.

And there's sadly still some who will clap when we sell out top scorer at Christmas.

No shoes off were needed here - we just shouldn't have done it. Recognising that doesn't demand that you're an activist.

UTB

Totally agree Alco. It was , and still is, as stupid a decision as selling Beattie half way through the season. That cost us dearly and so did selling Blackman. Those that advocate it as " good business" totally mystify me they really do. Its not quantum physics. If you sell the player the goals go as well and they have to be replaced. If not, we don't score goals, as we've found out yet again to our detriment. It really is as easy as that. You only have to look at performances after both sales. In a word, downhill, on both occasions

With Blackman, who was good up front and out wide, we looked balanced had pace and looked like scoring. Without him , frankly, we've been shit. Beatties record speaks for itself.

You live and die by decisions, unfortunately a few of McCabes are killing us.

IMO our owner has been too impatient with his instructions to sell players. He of all people should know that, it may be better to hold onto shares, (players) hoping that,, and in some cases, KNOWING that their value will increase over a short period of time Not that I own any shares.
