How do you stop Growing Crowd Disorder

People convicted of using cocaine at football matches could face a five-year ban and be forced to surrender their passports when their team is playing abroad, the policing minister has said.

Under the proposals brought in by the Home Office, those caught supplying or in possession of class A drugs in connection with football will also be banned.

The FA, Premier League and the Football League have expressed support for a ban, after Class A drug use was identified as a key factor in the rise in violence and disorder in football.

The proposal comes after some England fans were filmed openly snorting white powder at Wembley before last year’s European Championship final, when large numbers of ticketless people forced their way into the stadium.
A special report by The Times in February, when we accompanied the police on an operation targeted at football supporters attending matches in Nottingham, uncovered drug use, the carrying of illegal flares and vandalism of trains.
Commenting on the measures, Boris Johnson said: “Middle-class cokeheads should stop kidding themselves, their habit is feeding a war on our streets, driving misery and crime across our country and beyond.

“That’s why we are stepping up our efforts to make sure those who break the law face the full consequences — because taking illegal drugs is never a victimless crime.”

Kit Malthouse, the policing minister, said: “More and more the police are finding Class A drugs at the heart of that disorder and so we must act. The football family wants every ground to be a safe space for fans, especially children, and so do we.”
Earlier this year, Mark Roberts, the chief constable of Cheshire, who is in charge of the UK’s football policing, said cocaine use at matches was one of the factors behind a surge in crowd trouble.

Before the Carabao Cup final in February police took swabs on trains going to London. Traces of cocaine were found on every train that was checked.

Football banning orders are imposed by a court and must be made with the clear intention of preventing the individual’s involvement in violence, disorder or harm, the Home Office said. At present they can only be imposed on people convicted of violence, disorder and racist or homophobic chanting and, after a recent change, online hate offences.

The changes are expected to be introduced during the next football season.

Quite easy to find the 'coke' takers at matches - visit the bogs at half time, also do they realise how pathetic they look 3 and 4 'men' coming out of a cubicle after a snort.

In the play offs surely the solution is easy. Invade the pitch and your club loses the rights to take fans to Wembley. Might be harsh on the majority, but you'd have to be exceptionally stupid to still go on in that scenario. You'd quickly be disowned by all fellow fans.

Similar issues at Mansfield-Northampton last night.

There needs to be a little more clarity on what is considered as disorder as I think some is disputable depending on many factors - stewarding, policing, the occasion etc,

But for encroachment, it’s clear cut and the best place to start. So for me it’s simple.

1. Fine the clubs this season. All of them who’ve had more than 10 fans on the pitch in a game. But get them all fined.
2. EFL put a statement out to all clubs and fans that it won’t be tolerated at all next season. That’s the warning,
3. Next season clubs get a stand closed for 3 games if they have more than 10 fans on the pitch from that stand in a game. Away fans, the away club gets 2 game away fan ban, 1 game stand closed on their smallest stand.

When fans start realising that there is zero tolerance and they could close an entire stand by their actions then they will start to realise.

Happily see a coke ban.

Over the last few years following us, the ones who have wound me up more than anyone have been the coked up young uns acting like utter cunts.

Most of them look like they couldn't fight the urge to piss normarily.

Social media has a lot to answer for with crowd disorder. Pages like Football Fights highlight disorder as a form of entertainment and give idiots a platform to share what they do and celebrate it. Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, they're all as bad as the other and the administrators hide behind freedom of speech over morality and common sense.

There is a lot of monkey see, monkey do these days. The more something is talked about the more likely it will happen again as idiots will watch and want to do the same.

I also think Covid hasn't helped. Due to people spending a lot of time away from each other I firmly believe that many have forgotten how to be civilised. City centres are horrendous on Friday and Saturday nights as some people seem to be on a mission to get as drunk as possible, instead of just going out and having a good time. City centres are plagued with litter as "it's not my job to pick it up."

Generation entitled, who "know their rights" and argue with anyone in authority because they have a "right to," thrusting their mobile phones in people's faces which aggravates situations also don't help. There is a current generation of disrespectful, gobby little, know it all, entitled twats who think they can do and say what they want and won't be held accountable for it. They can't wait to blame everyone else for their poor choices and have no respect for anyone, especially authorities figures. They argue, they can't be reasoned with and they're unwilling to listen or compromise. Even when proven wrong they won't back down. They get themselves involved in things that they didn't need to get involved in because their opinion of what happened is more important than what actually happened. When proven wrong they become argumentative and demand justice for the way they were spoken to.

I personally hate social media these days as it's just a boiling pot for attention seekers and wankers to yell "notice me, notice me." It's anything but social on many occasions.

How do you stop the unrest and disorder at matches? Raise the next generation of kids to have respect and decency.

In todays society the percentage of thick fuckers has dramatically increased so I think your theory is well & truly blown out the window.

Dont sell the bottom 10 rows, net it all off for next seasons play offs, this is getting ridiculous
Port Vale have just got to Wembley, but one or two decide to goad Swindon players, why?
Celebrate with your own players, daft twats
Did any of our fans on the pitch at Leicester in 1990 go after home players?
No, it was pure joy for what we had achieved

Something will need to be done. Patric Viera ended up in a fist fight with invading fans last night when Everton fans invaded the pitch.

We’ve just started taking my 5 year old grandson. He has to go for a wee during the game because before KO and at half time the shitters have a queue of young male supporters apparently using the cubicle to snort coke! And that’s in the family stand

I've never really been into narcotics but I'm not against some recreational use.

My gripe is the way it makes people behave and impacts on others.

I've got plenty of disdain for how some of today's younger Blades behave at games under influence with precisely fuck all consideration for their fellow fans.

BBC reporting on the Viera incident, Viera refused to comment, Lampard brushed it off as Jubilation and if it’s done right there’s no problem.

The problem this week proves that it can’t be guaranteed to be done right. Let’s also not forget that Crystal Palace players got targeted on a last day of the season show down a few years ago. So it’s nothing new

Whatever the cause, post lockdown socialising seems to be a big factor, but disorder was rising before that with lads on coke at games. The Premier League and the EFL have to now put strong measures in place.

With Leeds at Brentford and Burnley home to Newcastle in a final day showdown, what’s the chances of more trouble.

No sympathy for Future events if the authorities don’t do more to stop this nonsense now.

Pretty sure it’s already banned 😂.
Yeah you are right it's banned but not enforced, I did think long and hard before renewing my ST one of the issues is the increase of coked up bastards in the crowd. I don't have any time for drugs or the drug users it really is pathetic. After recent events around the country I'm wondering if I have made a good choice to renew, I certainly would not be introducing young kids to being a football supporter at present.

I’ll probably get slaughtered for this, but Hecky didn’t cover himself in glory. Not sure what he was playing at in the first half but his actions managed to spark a mass brawl between both squads. Things like that carry over to the crowd and set the tone. Not excusing the actions of the dickhead that attacked Billy in any way, but in the same way you can’t excuse Hecky either.
Mass brawl 🤦. Ffs why are footballers such Tarts ! I dread to think what professional rugby lads and Ice hockey players think about footballers if that was a mass brawl 🤣🤣🤣

In my experience of going to matches…..it’s people of all ages acting like cunts.

Has National Service been mentioned yet by any of our older members?

It should be, just so I can tell those who mention it to fuck off.

Society needs to sort it's own problems out. We are a professional fighting arm and extension of government policy, not a fucking borstal.

pommpey

Just out the sprinklers on as soon as the game finishes. The players are all going for a shower anyway, and unless you're Gareth Ainsworth, then your kit will be too.

Anyone else shouldn't be on there, and they'll be wet then too.

Just seen a report ont BBC of a Stockport fan of 60+ years unable to go to game (as he is in a hospice receiving end of life care) that saw them get back into football league. Players and chairman took cup next morning to the hospice to celebrate with him, lovely scenes. When asked how he felt he said if he could have been there he would have run on the pitch to celebrate 🤣

Another one with Port Vale fans fighting with Swindon players last night. It's happening far too much and the FA need to take a stance on this to stamp it out. The only way is for action to be taken against the clubs rather than the individuals
