Winchester and Nottingham along with belmarsh the worst most violent jails in the UK.
Nottingham jail is a shithole full of dickheads
Drugs were the rat poison...
I just went the gym went to the Chapel and kept my head down...
Nobody bothered me .

I know what you said, and you said, you fought at football, you said, you liked going out for beers and football with your mates, you went with United away and ended up in trouble........
You've basically just described me and derbysufc, and probably a lot of other people on here....
I wouldn't class myself as
, or having been, a hooligan, im a Blade, a Sheffield Utd fan, and like yourself, I've sometimes found myself caught up in trouble, fights etc, and when your with your mates, lads that are like your brothers, then things are different when trouble does kick off, you don't only end up fighting to defend yourself, you fight for the lad to your left, the one to your right, and the 3 behind you, and sometimes you fight for lads you don't even know, but he's there following the club, and maybe he can't fight to protect hi.self quite as well as maybe you can?
Don't judge people, you've been there, and that's exactly why you should understand, even though yoursaying you don't.
And I totally agree about the morons that attack innocent fans, and I'm more of the mind that the organised meets are where the fighting should happen if its going too, but sometimes, you might be glad of the odd idiot, especially if your the one in the firing line??
Wow this is hard work… I liked going to watch Sheffield United, with my friends and having a beer. Trouble was the last thing on our minds and we would avoid it at all costs, but, As I Said, in the 70s normal fans would often be attacked and sometimes you would have to fight in self defence to get out of the situation.

If you think what I am describing is the same as you and derbysufc then your off your nut. And don’t judge people? I’ve already said “I won’t condemn them”.. each to their own I haven’t got a problem with derby or anyone else for that matter who fought like minded individuals but to me people actively going looking for trouble is crazy to me.

But seems you have me down as a 70s hoolie, oh well, I wished I’d have known I was one back then I’d have stuck something on the arm of my donkey jacket and got the badge in..

I don't have you down as a "hoolie", and you are describing me!! Apart from it not being 70's!!
And, like it or not, your exactly like me!
I've never said I've gone looking for trouble, in any of my posts, I just don't run, whether you see that as right or wrong, I refuse to be bullied!
I was bullied at school, il never be bullied again!
And if that makes me a "hoolie", then I must be one, but, as your literally describing yourself to be like myself, then surely.........?
It's not me struggling to understand, it's just that I'm sat on my sofa, and not on a tall horse!

Your labeling people, your post literally says that!, but your not sure who your labeling.

Big bed , .
Probably do no you , maybe not but I'm with you all the way .
These people think, everyone's out for trouble and stereo type.
Me I never a blades game)) an example Cardiff away we got promoted , a Danny webber goal.
I was one of only 4 blades that day thst went by train...I got attacked walking back the station after .. ended up broken eye socket busted jaw outside the Cornwall pub , all because they'd seen me walk out the away end . I was in a mess , had my head shoved into a car bonnet battered by loads.
You can fight one or two but the numbers I got attacked by were not on . It took the landlord to get me an ambulance to hospital. All because I was a blade , im half Welsh aswell attacked for following my club))) I wished to fuk that day a few blades were around.
I got the last train home and shared my table with James Shield sheffield star and gave him a beer . I looked like elephant man ..he will remember me .
Times like that you need fighters around you .

Was it that year or the year before, they held us in after? Plenty of Heddlu making sure we couldn't leave, or have a piss anywhere other than on the terrace.... then as soon as we were outside and surrounded by Cardiff - who had had plenty of time to organise and see who we all were - nowhere to be seen, fend for yourselves.

Exactly pal, ive fought because I can, I'm not small, and the biggest of 3 brothers, although there's only 2 of us now.
I don't go out looking for trouble, and yes trouble does happen, and like yourself, I don't run, call me stupid, crazy, a "hoolie" if you want, but I'm going to fight back, fortunately or unfortunately I've got a different mindset to a lot of people, I look at life in a different way since burying my little brother, and I don't seem to have certain "filters" that others may have, so if someone is going to attack me, they need to make sure they're willing to do it properly, I'm over 6' tall, im over 20st, and I've fought all my life, but I'll never go out looking for trouble, and I won't watch someone being bullied.

You said in my initial post what I was exactly describing in me being attacked is exactly what a hooligan did/do, so yes you do have me down as a hooligan which is laughable.

But here and read this slowly, for the last time hooligans go looking for trouble, they search out rivals for fights that’s what they do. If you think some innocent fans getting attacked back in the 70s and having to use self defence or even run away like I said in the initial post about being chased in a cemetery at Stoke is not the polar opposites of hooligans who actively search out trouble then you have had too many clumps to the head.

I’ve no idea if your a hooligan, search out trouble, get into fights, run, been bullied etc etc etc and I don’t care tbh, it’s you that has a problem with me for some strange reason..

I’m on my “high horse”? All because its crazy to me that people want to fight.. even though I said I won’t condemn them, if they are fighting like minded people, I even said they are good people, but because I said the notion of going looking for a fight is crazy to me you have took offence and I’m on my high horse 😂😂

I we t by train a couple years running on my own as I like it. Was drinking in Newport then Cardiff and got on with everyone.
The one I got battered was the one nil win st Ninian Park walking back to the station.. I didn't get beat up I got battered . Bang outside the Cornwall pub.
I never said a word , I was walking back to the station in Cardiff and bang bang bang and more ..ask James shield I was sat with him on the last train from Cardiff.
This is what I detest , one on one bring it on but fuk me was I fukt over that day and the next day I was at sheffwed v Norwich last game of season with Norwich, Yarmouth yellows lads and they couldn't belive the state of me .
This is where idiots posting do not no how it was late 70s early 80s ..you dint go for trouble but walk down the wrong street it found you.

Know plenty of the older hooligans and they are good people away from games, I’ve had many conversations about why they do it, no matter who you speak to it’s pretty much the same response, “you have to be involved to understand” … it’s crazy to me but I won’t condemn them if they are fighting like minded individuals but I just wish they would take it away from normal supporters, take it to a field in the middle of nowhere like some Europeans if you really must.

One things for certain though as far as youth cultures go throughout history hooligans/casuals has to be the most successful youth culture movement and is still going strong and attracting young lads. I’m just so glad none of my kids, grandkids, great grandkids were ever interested because I know it can be a magnet to youngsters.

But I have to say I had a few punch ups in the 70s, certainly wasn’t looking for it but those who went away in the 70s will tell you it often found us, I was in the forces so when I was home back then I’d love to meet up with my friends and travel away and have a good drink, but sometimes it was mayhem, I remember one game away at Stoke, fighting for our lives it felt like as we were getting chased through a cemetery and bricked, I can remember thinking ffs get me back to base sharpish.. and to think some people set out to actually get involved in that sort of thing, crackers.
Spot on.. heard the same from older blades including my Dad. Alot different times now.

I haven't taken offence atall, you said your "nothing like me or derby",
You said that, I was pointing out, that in describing yourself, your literally saying your exactly like us!
And you think it's me struggling to understand!!??!!
And therefore, if I go to football and end up in a fight, exactly the same as you did in the 70's, then how can you possibly say were different???????
Hear that.....that's a penny dropping!

I was pointing out the fact, that some may class you as a hooligan for being in a fight at football..... I'm pretty sure, well, certain, that if coppers turn up, and your defending yourself, whether you've been attacked or not, your getting banged up for football violence, not only that, the 5-O class you as a hooligan, like it or not.

I've got nothing against you, and I don't want you to care about my personal experiences and life, whether you condemn them or not, but you said you don't understand why people fight at football.....but you do, you've done it.

That's the thing big bed!
Found out myself over 7 years here moved to derby every twat wanted to fight me cos I've got a huge blades tattoo on back of head / neck .
These same people are now best mates down here. I never showed any fear and my team is my team.
There's 30 odd of us blades in derby , probably another 8 to 10 from the villages ...but best thing is everyone in derby nos about the blades and I've got a few derby lads on board.
I never get bothered here just looked after because I have respect .

its enlightening this thread, we as people all have different life experiences and sliding door moments
I was locked up in Ipswich police station for a cup match as our coach had stopped at a services and most had shopped there but very few paid , as you do
They let us out at 10 past as we all claimed innocence and had eaten or drunk all the evidence and like good little citizens had binned all the litter,
I had taken my 11 year old brother for his first match, hes never stopped going since.
The seventies were fights interspersed with the odd football match.
Travelling to away games was more like manouvers
That would be the only two bright yellow coaches in about 40 SUT coaches eh BLT? Police escort from the outskirts of Ipswich straight to the nick. Coppers beat the shit out of a mate in the interview room, they thought he was taking the piss saying he lived on Constable road 🤣🤣🤣

Only thing I remember about the coach was e were on the first 2 seats

Were they the Coopers Tours coaches??

I don't have anything to do with any of the lads I used to hang about with back then, not for any other reason that some aren't with us anymore, others moved away or changed there lives.
I know a few of the 80's faces, but not as good mates or anything, just for the odd chat.
The lads I go to the footy with now are not remotely into any type of trouble, like myself, we just enjoy a few beers, bit of a sing song in the ground, the footy, thats all I'm bothered about, my afternoon release a couple of times a month, we go away in with the caravans a couple of times a year with our families, thats my life now, apart from working as much as possible when it's there, to pay for it!

Well I think it’s safe to say derby is a self confessed ex hooligan, he clearly says back in the day get off the train, no shouting so not to bring attention, get into a pub until it came on. That’s what hooligan used to do, nothing against him each to their own as I said, but as he said himself it’s a mugs game and he’s realised it’s daft himself. Seems he’s totally turned his life around so nothing but respect that he’s managed to do that…

hear that penny dropping..

And I assumed you may have been have also been a hooligan with you clued up to what the “5-0” get up to tracking know individuals and how organised they are nowadays. Also what happens with banning orders when you get caught breaching one. You know what it was like for hooligans in the 90s, if knives were used, just odd stanley maybe… maybe 30 lads but usually away from families etc etc.. in your reply to someone saying why don’t they join the military, your reply seemed to be a defence of why not, could also be an indicator that you were involved who knows. In fact anyone reading your posts could possible think you were involved back in the 90s. If your saying that is not the case and you have never been involved in hooliganism fair enough, I don’t care either way truth be told.

But what I still do not understand is, I didn’t aim a post to you or say anything about you. I posted my little story and you replied to me basically saying I was describing being a hooligan.. when what I was describing was self defence and being attacked which was prevalent in the 70s you took it upon yourself to say nah your a hooligan. It’s like derbys story of him getting battered at Cardiff, genuine question here so forget everything else in this thread, is derby a hooligan because he went to watch Utd in Cardiff, was having a drink, and got set upon by rival fans and beat up, is he a hooligan for that? Just a yes or no will do cheers… that’s another penny dropping btw

Read the posts and open your mind, it was groups of like minded individuals having a blow out, many were friends and still are!
In the case of the Sheffield Derby some were/are family!, no one is asking you to understand or get involved, but neither are they asking you to judge.
This is the bit I couldn’t get my head around, I’d happily banter with other football fans all day.

Then I had ‘mates’ who would see me on a matchday and want to have a fight because I supported a different football team to them. Quite a few received banning orders and started travelling to Italy a few times a season for a fight instead 🤷🏻‍♂️

This is just going to go round in a circle isn't it.
You've assumed that I'm a hooligan, fair enough, I'll leave that with you, I have knowledge of a lot of things, I know about assay marks for example, must make me an antique dealer too?

And you've already lassed him and me as a hooligan, so you already answered your own question.

And, I didn't brand you as or say you were a hooligan, which I put in averted commas, you said you didn't understand why people fought at football.......
But then told your story about why you fought at football, so there is an understanding of why people fight at football.
And that was my point.

So you’re not going to answer the question? Of course your not because you look a little bit silly.

1. Fan goes to Stoke to watch football and not looking for any trouble but gets attacked.

2. Fan goes to Cardiff to watch football and not looking for any trouble but gets attacked.

3 Football hooligans go to football to fight and attack people.

As you seem to know a lot of things including assay marks but don’t seem to know this I’ll just tell you how it is. Numbers 1 and 2 are football fans who were the Victims of violence. Number 3 is a football hooligan, hope that clears it up 👍

That’s pretty much where I’m at with and pretty much have always been at with it.

I could write a book (as could many on here) telling all the stories of the scrapes, shenanigans and other assorted events that have taken place on away, usually after plenty of alcoholic beverages had been consumed but I can only think of two fights I’ve ever been involved in during the last 30 years both times I wasn’t the aggressor. Once as a teenager where a Wolves fan started on me, and the other time a random Charlton fan hit me on the back of the head on the day we won 5-2 for taking the mick, whilst I was walking back to the station having a friendly chat with an old Charlton fan.

For me the purpose of football has always been to enjoy a few beers and a game of football, and a chat and bit of banter with like minded individuals

I don't go to football to fight or attack people, yet you've branded me a "hooligan"!??

I'm not the silly one.

Couple of Derby Blades own a bar down that way, they have the match on the TV’s when we are on.
Where abouts pal ?
We use the Harrington Arms at thulstan , it's run by a Woodhouse blade ( no names ) and decorated in blades memorabilia.
The brunswick is run by a pig.
I know derby inside out so if you can name me the pub I can go check it out.

Brian wise who ran the big tree in Woodseats used to own the Neptune. He's now in Spain or Portugal.
Neptune is now run by kirky one of derby's old boys and a good mate.

I'm at hospital today , find out if I need a big operation on my back and being told it could paralize me if goes wrong. Hoping it don't have to come to an op but the people going with me are old skool derby lads and lads same age roughly as me mid 50s who for a month have been my rocks.
These lads have done my shopping and carrying me around . These lads raised hundreds of pounds for derby County during there financial issues.
All of them ex derby dlf hooligans but now take family to pride Park.
If forest are in town then one or two are back on the scene.
I know 2 old skool blades lads both now have caravans and live at Skeggy enjoying the family life.
I was never really a main lad but I knew everyone and got involved . It was a different era back then .
No meadowhall no sheffield arena etc , you got your kicks from football .
I detest trouble now. But you find the best lads are old skool.
I've nothing to hide. I speak from my heart , I'm genuine and thank you yes I've turned my life around massively.
Nobody did it for me . As a football nut mostly non league nowadays I just see the pattern of drugs/, coke and young lads out for trouble . I have a step son I valved in this and it's shameful .
If I caught my son doing drugs I wudnt clip him I'd have his bags packed and gone .

Thought you'd got a bad back, and waiting for an op?! Not sure you should be going after a feyt just yet pal!
Nowt to hide fella .
I live a life of peace, yes correct regards operation but it don't stop me posting on here when people don't get it , how it was .
All the best .
De24 blade.
