It appears Jesse Lingard is ducking and diving waiting for better offers to come knocking rather than take the opportunity with Blades.
It may still happen but just like previous windows, the main targets become reclusive and more unlikely and we end up with nothing
or a mad scramble to get someone in the door.
Personally i would prefer not to accommodate an ex prima donna with inflated ego if they show disrespect and better to blood
in a couple of the U 23s assuming a worst case no shows from Chris Wilders targets. There are two or three who must be knocking
on door if playing for Stoke or doing well in Belgian league.
It may not save us from PL drop but can hit the ground running for Championship and when crowds are allowed back.

I hear it’s more difficult to sign players these days as they are not allowed to go out and play golf and get sunstroke

Wouldn't bother with any incomings now tbh ,go with what we have .....get rid of a few in summer ,keep a decent nucleus...get some good additions...top 6 i 18 months # Job done

Yeah, there's little point in recruiting anyone now, unless it's loan-to-buy of a player with Championship credentials, ready for next season. Don't waste money on loan fees or pay a percentage of astronomical wages, and the gap is too great to close with a few big money signings.

I think you can attach zero blame to a player having to fully consider if he wants to be associated with this season. We’ve been crap and it can’t have been an enjoyable experience for any of them.

he might come in and stand out but he might be tarred by association and cost himself a move in the summer. Don’t think that’s being a diva, just sensible.

The end reult of the season is not going to change - I don’t think we need to be spunking millions on wages when the resources could be used to impact the season next year.

We may as well light £3-4 million on fire, than spend that on 100k a week wages and still finish bottom

No point signing him anyway. Better off signing another championship midfielder instead because we're already relegated.... I read it in the Lingard thread 🤣

What has happened to the "if a player doesn't want to come here, and doesn't show desire to do so then we look elsewhere??"

This is a saying that only happens at Sheffield United

It's part of our brainwashing programme

Just because a player wants a good salary doesn’t mean he's a twat

Not 'wasting' money seems sensible at first but going with what we have and being relegated by March and finishing on about 10 points risks a huge hangover next season IMHO.

For me it’s throwing good money after bad.
Wilder does’nt have the funds, the nous or the game time left to buy his way out of relegation.
save the money for next season.

What a total thread of negativity, and no it’s not satire. You fans did not deserve the last 4 years of fantastic match days this team and manager has delivered. And call me a bitch but I’m a Blade bitch.

Not too mention what our financial prudence will eventually cost us in the long run

It's pointless, are any players really going to be motivated into playing their best in an already relegated team whose confidence is shot to bits, we are a small fish in a big pond, next season we will be a shark in a washing up bowl and a much more attractive proposition

It's no surprise that players like JL dont really want to come given our terrible run and impending relegation. We should have been in players of his calibre in the summer, when we were a bigger draw. Instead we penny-pinched on wages and wasted the money we did have on players who aren't PL class (as yet).

Good point.

Spunk that cash!

Worked well for Wednesday.......
Exactly what the problem is, we already have taken on the Wednesday method. Wilder is looking like Wilson, a few good seasons at lower level and he’s the toast of football. But he can’t manage anyone, nor attract anyone unless they’ve played league one and he can demand, rather than command their respect! If you were Lingard (money is not the point) you can train and play for the PL title for OGS (champions league winner) or chase down the Derby title under Chris? Harsh but that’s the reality?!
