Honest discussion about the atmosphere

Just wanted to mention how good the atmosphere was and also how crap Leeds fans were until they scored which meant we were treated to their usual expansive repatoire of Matching on, We are Leeds, and Leeds, Leeds, Leeds. They really are an embarrassment to Yorkshire as opposed to the pride of Yorkshire.

Saying all that, there were still times when I looked like a maniac on the back of the Kop back of F block. I'm shouting Sheffield United, Sheffield United and not enough joining in. I turned round and shouted come on to the very back of the kop, close to Shoreham View territory and by this point I probably did look like a lunatic! People were looking at me smiling so I just replied with "Ive had nowt to drink neither"!

So proud of the performance yesterday and the atmosphere, top effort to every Blade, especially on the Kop.
Thé lads back of Gangway C were quieter than normal, it’s usually full-on with that lot. I’m just in front hence the bemusement about fans calling the Lane a library

Having read more and more fan complaints of shit atmospheres up and down the country, United clearly aren't uniquely crap - having genuinely thought we were earlier this season. Modern football may be aesthetically nice (at times), but it's impotent. British crowds (regardless of age, gender etc) are reactionary - there's by and large fck all to react to.
I don’t disagree but I think it’s an English rather than British thing. I go to games in Scotland and the atmospheres generated by much smaller crowds watching “inferior” football are better.

Is the football more exciting despite lower quality?

I think so. Usually plenty of goals. But the crowds seem younger as well. It’s much cheaper to go, far more affordable.

If it is, it's not by much. I paid £30 (before booking fees) to watch Hearts earlier this season and that doesn't seem any cheaper than games of a comparable standard down here

Great atmosphere at the match! So good to hear the kop in full voice!
I was worried the 3-0 cushion was going to take the edge off the atmosphere, but the fans were a credit today!
Sitting on the kop I've know idea what the Tifo actually looked like, did anyone get a pic of it? Hats off to the Shoreham 89 mob for sorting this!

G and H block were very vocal and having chants coming from both sides in unison was quite impressive.
Best atmosphere I've experienced for a long time.

Moved seats to BL upper last night really enjoyed it, atmosphere was magnificent, gangway G, H were on top form. Makes such a difference when everyone is up for it. Me and lad can away with with such a big smile last night, well played to all the support, if players don’t get a lift form that nothing ever will.

Absolutely disgraceful from most Blades today. All you silent fans deserved that loss today. Absolutely pathetic.
Props to the few lads around me (and me) in 109 who actually tried our best for the entire match to keep the chants going. Never felt this ashamed of our fans before.
Beyond salvation.

Poor support, with the standing area seemingly populated by fans selected at random rather than those who've purposely gone there to make noise

Even worse though is the stadium. It is designed to stifle noise. It is horrendous. You feel like it's a waste of effort. It deflates you and exhausts you

The VAR decision killed us and the equaliser killed us completely, on and off the pitch

Needs more organisation especially at Wembley, by the time GCB got to us (508) it was on its last line.

Not sure what the answer is but the atmosphere was shit yesterday compared to 2nd leg of the semi and our players are clearly affected by the supporters

Have to admit my free scarf lost a little of its swirl when I saw that humongous circus tent sized banner slowly unfurl in the Sunderland end.

We need to prioritise atmosphere, it’s been crap minus Bristol City game, can’t put my finger on it, stubborn fans, older fans, this is also why we need to look at ticketing system

I had a season ticket until 2012 then life got in the way, started going again properly this season with my little lad and the first thing that struck me was the lack of atmosphere now. None of the old favourites being sung, GCB na nas cut short, even the old miseries weren’t as loud

Don’t get me wrong I appreciated the sentiment of the scarf, something for my young un to treasure despite the result as it was his first final / first time at Wembley. But our scarves swinging had nowhere near the effect their flags did, and that would’ve been much cheaper for the club to sort too

I honestly think the last two seasons in the premier league have been so mentally draining on the fans. Plus the turgid football we’ve played constantly this season brings nerves in which takes away from the buzz and crowd excitement massively.

It doesn’t need ticketing for people to make noise, it’s just another excuse, like not being able to get a ticket because of the ticket office.

Not sure how you look at it then maybe it’s recent years of being pumped in PL and failed PO’s. Probs need adversity to improve it but that comes with being frustrated on the pitch.
