Honest discussion about the atmosphere

Just wanted to mention how good the atmosphere was and also how crap Leeds fans were until they scored which meant we were treated to their usual expansive repatoire of Matching on, We are Leeds, and Leeds, Leeds, Leeds. They really are an embarrassment to Yorkshire as opposed to the pride of Yorkshire.

Saying all that, there were still times when I looked like a maniac on the back of the Kop back of F block. I'm shouting Sheffield United, Sheffield United and not enough joining in. I turned round and shouted come on to the very back of the kop, close to Shoreham View territory and by this point I probably did look like a lunatic! People were looking at me smiling so I just replied with "Ive had nowt to drink neither"!

So proud of the performance yesterday and the atmosphere, top effort to every Blade, especially on the Kop.
Thé lads back of Gangway C were quieter than normal, it’s usually full-on with that lot. I’m just in front hence the bemusement about fans calling the Lane a library

Having read more and more fan complaints of shit atmospheres up and down the country, United clearly aren't uniquely crap - having genuinely thought we were earlier this season. Modern football may be aesthetically nice (at times), but it's impotent. British crowds (regardless of age, gender etc) are reactionary - there's by and large fck all to react to.
I don’t disagree but I think it’s an English rather than British thing. I go to games in Scotland and the atmospheres generated by much smaller crowds watching “inferior” football are better.

Is the football more exciting despite lower quality?

I think so. Usually plenty of goals. But the crowds seem younger as well. It’s much cheaper to go, far more affordable.

If it is, it's not by much. I paid £30 (before booking fees) to watch Hearts earlier this season and that doesn't seem any cheaper than games of a comparable standard down here
