It's come from watching him lately. Are you having a laugh, he's played twice this season in the Carabao Cup, saved a penalty against Blackburn and was excellent throughout the game and against Sunderland he hardly had anything to do all game.
If Simon Moore is faced with a long shot it's a goal. And in the Prem that weakness will be exposed like never before. He hasn't been our number 1 since promotion to the Championship and that's for a reason.

Cardiff last season had Neil Etheridge and signed QPR's POTY and number 1 Alex Smithies. That's the level of depth you have to aim for. And this is a team that went fucking down.

His £20 million transfer fee has just dropped, another few blunders like that and we maybe able to afford him one day

It's the £75k a week wages that he was reportedly after that bother me more than a transfer valuation.

I can't see any of our other players being on anything like that sort of money.

Remember when the balloon was on the pitch or when the ball hit a bump and went over the keeper bad luck happens
Many keepers have their faults some punch when their should catch etc
That's why we love the game

We're paying his full wages, but they're not 75k

While this is obviously not anything to be overly concerned about, a few weeks ago (home game) Mrs G and myself arrived early for once and were sat watching the team warm up. Verrips was in the goal as the strikers all practiced their warm up moves. I don't think he stopped a single shot.

Now, I totally get that in a live game situation, he could be totally different (100% hope so), but he is also only a young lad, same age as Deano, the big difference being his height (6ft 5!). Simon Moore has the advantage of age and experience on his side (29 years old), and should be coming to his peak (goalies always seem to have longer careers than outfield players, I guess due to the fact that your knees/joints don't take a beating due to all the running).

So our situation is a young player (Deano) who is very talented, but (as we all were at 22) prone to lapses in concentration, and older player (Moore), who has the experience (and a height advantage on Deano), but doesn't have the same natural skill, and another young (22 years old) keeper (Verrips) who we all know little about, but has a height advantage on both of the others.

Yep. He can get better. His contributions to the League One title winning side and his subsequent loyalty after being displaced first by Blackman and then Hendo means that he has earned his chance if Hendo is dropped or gets injured. In my opinion, of course. Wilder may think differently, but I doubt that Moore would be still with us if he knew he had been demoted to number three.

Love hendo but you can’t deny he has made his fair share of blunders big ones aswell
Leeds at home last year ?
Villa away ?
Chelsea away was his fault ?
Liverpool Saturday ?

And that’s just of the top of me head
The error for England Under 21s in Italy was very similar to the one he made last Saturday

Keepers don't take warm ups seriously

No I know mate, that's why I said it was nothing to be overly concerned about, it's just that I have never seen a warm up where a keeper never saved anything!

The main point of my post is that Verrips is as young as Deano, both with similar amount of games. Moore has twice the amount of game time but not as gifted as Deano. Verrips is an unknown quantity to us. Jake Eastwood is the same age as Deano and Verrips but with only 10 senior games under his belt (and out on loan anyway).

I’d rather chuck Verrips in and see what he’s like than know every long shot taken will probably go in with Moore in goal.

Think Verrips let three in for the under 23's yesterday, not sure if they were unstoppable or not, would need to hear from Ball_Sup (Phil).

You reckon Ramsdale is worth less than £10m?
Was just going on the prices paid for current young keepers, not reckoning anything, was just interested who would buy Hendo for £20m.

I would.

Who's better we could get for £20m?

Bournemouth have conceded 5 more goals than us.

No chance. If he does that Wilder wants dropping for a game, Christ, talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face.

Watford might beat us with Henderson in the net, they've got good players that are in a funk, you don't put a midtable Championship keeper in to prove a point when you need points on the board.
Honest answer, exactly my thoughts, and who could we buy anywhere near as good??

He's a very good keeper, one of the better ones we've had in my time watching us and has gained us more points than he has cost us.

But.........

Theres a mistake in him most games, and at this level that is the fag paper of a difference. For that reason, in my humble opinion, that is why he isnt quite a top four keeper yet. And he may never be unless he tightens up in some areas. His distribution is often worse than Hermes, if you live near the ground don't be surprised to find one of his kicks in your blue bin, or a while you were out note.

He CAN be a too keeper, but isnt yet. And top keepers make the top of the game because of what they do, not necessarily how popular they are with the fans. Maybe he needs to focus more on one and a bit less on the other.

What about last season? Saw the worst penalty shootout performance ever against Hull in the cup for example, he couldn't be arsed, just fell over for most of them.

He has obvious weaknesses (long shots, positioning) that would be massively exposed in the Premier League.

Verrips should play against Man U, he played the majority of the campaign last season and won promotion to the top Belgian league.

Moore hasn't regularly played football since League One.

No-one was clamouring for Danny Lafferty to stay as cover for Enda, he played about as much as Moore since we got promoted to the Championship.

I've nothing against him, but he shouldn't be playing in the Premier League. He might do, and have an alright game, but we shouldn't count on it by any means.

I’m not writing Hendo off but for me the two key things I want to see in a keeper are someone who commands his area and who rarely makes mistakes. Those are precisely the two areas that Hendo needs to improve.

this quote is absolutely spot on---my complaint is he is rooted to his line. the top keepers dominate the area from goal line to penalty spot

"His distribution is often worse than Hermes," 😂🤣

CW pointed out Henderson's obvious mistake and the need to be more focused if he wants to succeed as a top professional. He also stated that it was well known what the club's opinion of the player is. Don't see how this can be made into a character assassination/criticism of the individual?

I didn't mean it to come across that way, apologies that it did.

Sorry, my mistake in trying to cover two points with one post.
The first was for your humour and the second was for the media in general for their short-sighted criticism of CW.

No worries, been proper on it so far on holiday so my cognitive abilities are worse than usual!

I think you make a fair point. It's a classic meda tactic. Build something up.then at some point knock it down again. When we hit a sticky patch, and we will, they will be all over it.

Henderson wasn't named in the senior squad, and has now been omitted from the U21s, have I missed something?

I'm sure age wise he still qualifies, happy to be corrected though.

You have to be 21 when the competition starts. As the finals, which Hendo played in, were this summer, I assume this is now the start of the new competition. He’s 22.

chill out everyone. he's a goalkeeper. made a mistake. they all make mistakes, including the outfield players, it's just that goalkeeper mistakes usually lead to goals.
i tell you what, it shows how high profile we are these days.. he almost made PM's question time

COME ON DEANO, PULL IT OUT TGE FUCKING BAG TODAY PAL!!

#CLEANSHEET!!!
