Henderson and Blackman

I bet Jamal is gutted he's not coming back. He seemed to enjoy it here and had a rapport with the fans and probably assumed it was nailed on he'd come back. He's now going to have to find a new club to go on loan to or fester in Chelseas squad

There's worse problems to have!

Mental not to pay the 2.5m.

One or two good seasons and he'd be worth 10m+

Decent goalkeepers are hard to find these days. Stoke are gonna get 30m for Butland ffs.

On the negative side, perhaps we see where we’re shopping this season...on the positive side, perhaps he’s saving the cash for a decent striker.
UTB!

Got to admit Blackman was good at coming for crosses but so many times got beaten from long range and let in soft goals.

A top goalkeeper can get you 10 points a season. Henderson hopefully is that man.

I remember when we signed Blackman and everyone moaned saying only league two bla bla.

Agree, Blackman was good but was no where near the finished article, still young so plenty of time to progress.

The thing I loved about Blackman though was when we were defending corners or crosses.
I remember the days of Steve Simmonsen when I’d feel panic every time we conceded a corner.

However with Blackman in goal I’ve never felt so relaxed defending corners.
Blackman would easily catch the ball for every corner, the thing that made me laugh was he was so tall he’d hardly need to even jump.

Would've loved Blackman back on a permanent. But its simple economics; Moore is decent and we’ve bagged another VERY highly rated loanee to challenge him. Now lets spend the cash on areas we really need it; *COUGH COUGH HINT HINT* quality forward players.

When you barely have £2.5 m to spend on a striker it’s not mental to refuse to spend that on a keeper when you’ve already got a competent one.

Wilder’s played his cards right imo.

That's the view I take. Is Blackman worth the money, yes he is. Having said that, if its too big a chunk out of the budget to spend on areas of greater need, then in my view we've done the right thing.

Blackman for me is the best keeper we’ve had since Kenny. If it was up to me we’d have paid the 2.5m to bring him in permanently, but with Henderson being available for a loan deal perhaps it made more sense. It’s a tough one
And the £1.2m a year wages.

To me, if we couldn't get another loan deal because Chelski want to sell, then it's a no brainer.

We cant afford him when we can get an equally decent keeper for much less.

But nobody knows how much we do have. It's all speculation so far, but it appears to have kept Wilder happy.

Has Mr Osborne fixed the critical errors in that article yet? Blackman is contracted at Chelsea until 2021; he's under no pressure to find a club this summer. Or next summer. Or the summer after that, for that matter.

It took me all of 20 seconds to research that - but that's evidently beyond Mr Osborne. He's becoming a parody of himself.

The article opens with lots of sensationalism about Blackman's contract but then implies that the stumbling block to us signing him was actually Chelsea's valuation at 2.5 million. So what does Jamal's wage have to do with anything?

Poor stuff.

Unconvinced by Blackman early in the season but by the end I thought he was excellent. Sorry he's not coming back this season but I'm happy with CW's judgement on it. Maybe he'll come back next season when we're in the PL:)

Blackman was excellent, i rate him very highly and he's still very young. I'd expect that Chelsea may want him to get different experience and maybe even keep him at the club this season.

Henderson, i'd expect to challenge Moore in a similar way this season

If Henderson's half as good as his reputation suggests there won't be much challenge with Moore. In a way I feel a bit sorry for Moore; he's a capable keeper but he's not quite good enough.

I don't feel 'sorry' for him, but I take your point. It's hard to be on that cusp of top league one, lower champ quality, especially when there's only 70-odd GK spots up and down the football league.

He isn't good enough though, you are right. Have to be able to come and get crosses, cannot just be a shot stopper.

I tend to agree. To be a good keeper you have to be able to command your area. That’s the difference between a good one and an average one. If you can’t stop shots, you’re not really cut out to be a keeper.

I thought Blackman was good last season but was found out in certain situations. I think it would have been crazy to spend £2.5 million on him when a new striker is top of the list!. We all know that wilder has got a budget to stick to and we're not in a position to throw silly amounts of money on players!!.
Currently watching France V Peru and would love to see greizman in a blades shirt!!. Lol

Where has the valuation of 2.5 million come from?
