Blackman easily worth 2.5m but if that’s a quarter of the budget and we go on to spend 6/7m on 2 quality strikers then I’ll be happy with that 7 or 8 more goals last season would have seen us in the playoffs minimum, bring in a centre half with what’s left of he budget and we are well set for another good season...get the strikers in then what’s to say we won’t go back for Blackman next summer

I thought Blackman was good last season but was found out in certain situations. I think it would have been crazy to spend £2.5 million on him when a new striker is top of the list!. We all know that wilder has got a budget to stick to and we're not in a position to throw silly amounts of money on players!!.
Currently watching France V Peru and would love to see greizman in a blades shirt!!. Lol

Why not just play without a keeper then and go for 3 up front!?
In my eyes, the keeper is possibly the most important position to get right.
We have strikers that can get us goals, but if the guy stopping the other teams goals isn't up to it, then they'll more than likely score more than you.
We need to get a spine down the park, Keeper is the anchor point, CB In front of him, Coutts/Fleck in the middle, striker(s) getting the goals.
I agree we need to bring in a Striker, but I'm hoping Brooks and Ched can play more of a part this year, but, I think we need to also bring in a better CB,as im sure Jake and Stearman could be improved upon, even thought Jake has been awesome!. Also a LWB if possible, and let Lafferty move on as I don't see him as an improvement to Stevens.

Yes maybe Brooks, Billy & Leon + 1 new signing but it's certainly not the area I see as a priority.

Exactly what I'm getting at, Keeper, CB and LWB would be my first thoughts.

I see the forward line as a priority, as I think that last season's scoring by BS & LC was an anomaly and won't be repeated next season. I appreciate that not everyone holds the same view. However, at the very least, I still think we are short of a player with pace/power/mobility, to vary our current options. They don't have to be prolific, but need to be capable of occupying 2 defenders.

Blackman for me is the best keeper we’ve had since Kenny. If it was up to me we’d have paid the 2.5m to bring him in permanently, but with Henderson being available for a loan deal perhaps it made more sense. It’s a tough one

It’s not hard is it? We’ve had some poor keepers since Kenny. I like Blackman but the amount of goals we conceded to shots was one of the worse in the championship. It’s not all the keepers fault but some blame must lie with them. Does Blackman deserve the highest wages in the squad? Not at all so I think Wilder has done the right thing for the club and the squad.

I bet Jamal is gutted he's not coming back. He seemed to enjoy it here and had a rapport with the fans and probably assumed it was nailed on he'd come back. He's now going to have to find a new club to go on loan to or fester in Chelseas squad

He was dropped at the last game of the season though wasn't he as Wilder said he only wanted people who were going to be here this season to be playing, so that would indicate that even at that early stage Wilder knew he wasn't bringing back Blackman - probably because he knew he couldn't afford him.

....or playing mind games? Perhaps CW was wanting a snubbed JB to put pressure on Chelsea to lower their expectations for what they could get for him or agree to another loan this season? Hopefully, it wasn't case of sending him back to save on a weeks worth of wage. Either way, I don't expect JB to be a contracted Chelsea player next season, somebody, whether it be Champ as a first choice or a London based Prem club as 2nd choice will buy him this summer. If he is available for £2.5m, then that is a steal.

Had a very good season with us and won over a lot of the pessimists over the season , if is £2;5M they want for him I suppose it’s what percentage of Wilders war chest that would eat into as I’d imagine he’ll be on very good wages at Chelsea . With Henderson & Moore we’ve 2 competent keepers , as said I think we’ve a greater need to strengthen in other depts
