It’s not identical, they don’t think overplay in the corners anywhere near as much and they attack more aggressively.

The tempo and intensity of our attacking play definitely has those modern German influences that probably stem from Klopp at Dortmund.

It’s not just about better players either, Duffy and Mcgoldrick were definitely better suited to that slow build up in wilder ball.

Berge and especially N’Diaye attack much quicker and more aggressively in the final third, although granted Berge sometimes drops deeper and keeps possession ticking over when Norwood is marked out of the game.

This current style of play suits our club and our fans, both in tastes and ambition.

We play a different formation to Wilderball.
We're less structured and rigid than Wilderball.
We overlap less than Wilderball.
We don't play fucking 100 triagles in the corners and fail to cross a ball in like Wilderball.
We play in the middle more than Wilderball.
We shoot more than Wilderball.

Therefore.

It's not Wilderball.
Wilder played 2 upfront we play a single man.
Wilder evolved his formation to a flat 3 we don’t.
Wilder was ridged and disciplined in shape ours is fluid.
Wilders wide centre backs overlap ours don’t.

At best there is shared DNA of the back 3 but Heckys side is more expansive and exciting to watch. We’ll need to see out for a full season so see if it’s as effective but as we don’t have one yet to compare with, Heckys in front on Championship PPG with a poorer first 11 man for man.

Agree with everything till the last line. Henderson made mistakes in his first season that wouldn’t put him ahead of Wes imo (albeit still on par with a very good keeper), it’s Henderson’s performance in the prem that was truly outstanding.

Other than that, Berge and N’Diaye are considerably better than Mcgoldrick and Duffy were imo. RND and obviously isn’t anywhere near the calibre of JO’C so overall I wouldn’t say there’s much in it.

Once we get Bogle back this first 11 is better on paper compared with Wilders promotion team

That’s a big call.
1.) Hendo vs Wes.
2.) Baldock vs Bogle.
3.) Enda vs Lowe
4.)Bash vs Anel
5.) Egan vs Egan
6.) JoC vs Robinson/Clark/RND
7.) Norwood vs Norwood
8.) Fleck vs Doyle
9.) Duffy vs Berge
10.) Dids vs Ndiaye
11.) Billy vs McBurnie

I’ve got it 10-1 on what our current players have shown maybe 9-2 at a push if you put Wes in over Hendo which is debatable.
Ndiaye looks great but still struggles to complete a game and Dids delivered more, 15 goals for starters and how many key passes to great big chances? Like Doyle, Anel, Berge I think their ceiling is higher than the comparable player but that’s not the name of the game. Wilders players at that point in their career were complete and playing their best football. Of course all my comments could be mute come the end of the season, if Ndiaye goes and gets 20 goals or Anel dominates every team we play, but then the Hecky riding on Wilders coat tails comments will really be laughed out of the room.

I would add, watching Heckys side is more exciting than Wilders promotion team. For better and for worse.

Also, it’s the level to which Berge and N’Diaye are better than any creative players in that wilder team. They are two of the absolute star players in the entire league and wouldn’t look out of place in a mid table prem team. We had no attacking players of that level in the promotion season.

I’d have Anel as much better than Basham, Lowe has the most tackles and interceptions in the entire league and already scored so a similar level to enda. Granted, I reckon I rate Lowe more than most fans, he’s been outstanding imo.

Norwood has improved imo, although I would concede Doyle isn’t the level Fleck was 4 years ago.

I guess Wilders team would have a greater number players who edge their equivalent in this team, but the current team is punctuated by three outstanding individuals, 4 when we get Bogle back.

So a very similar level overall

Hecky ball it’s like wilderball you just get it every other week

Well, Wilder isn’t exactly lighting things with his tactical genius at the moment is he………

Cricket has BazBall
We’ve had WilderBall

But I think we now have a far better HeckyBall
Wilder made the overlapping defenders attacking style work & was the envy of the Championship, but he made it work due to having the players to play it & rotate for covering the break.
But Hecky (who was a big part of it)
Has refined it and added a shoot on sight to it from the kick off or anywhere in the opponent’s half, and they don’t have to be net busters , just slide them inside the post.
Virtually anyone in our team (maybe except Wes) has license and ability to score. I think that’s so refreshing the only thing I’d tweak is sometimes we need to be aware of that on extra pass at the end of the move to give an assist instead of just hit and hope. That’s not a criticism’cause I think what we’re doing is great, and I think we’ll score 100+ this season
In the style of the Rolling Stones

“It’s only HeckyBall, but I like it “

And don't forget, Pigs have Cakeball 😄

Worth remembering that we are only 9 games in with a depleted squad.

Can't wait to see what this squad can do with most of them back and a good number of games to get to know each other.
