Sheffield United's search for a striker continues with a reported bid for Leeds hit-man David Healy having been rejected.

Blades boss Neil Warnock is keen to improve his firepower and, following the sale of Andy Gray to Sunderland, has money to play with in the transfer market.

Healy is thought to be one of Warnock's primary targets but a regular at Leeds, it seems unlikely Kevin Blackwell would part with the North Ireland international - who only arrived at Elland Road last season from Preston.

Whilst Warnock is remaining elusive in identifying possible targets, it seems likely that he could return to Preston to make a renewed bid to land Richard Cresswell.

United were rebuffed earlier in the month when they tried to land the talented target man but Preston boss Billy Davies has now conceded that it is unlikely they will be able to keep Cresswell at Deepdale.

"With success comes the fact that other clubs will take an interest in our players and we have seen that this last week with Sheffield United's interest in Richard Cresswell,'' Davies told the club's official website.

"In an ideal world I would like to keep my squad together but sometimes we cannot compete with the financial power of other clubs in The Championship.

"Richard Cresswell signed a new three-year extension to his contract earlier this year and over the last few weeks the club has offered him improved terms on that deal. "After having discussions with the player and his agent Mel Stein it has become clear that he now sees his future elsewhere."

There lots of rumours going round that Leeds are going to bid for Cresswell and if they sign him Healy wil join us.

I was hoping to land Healy, never mind.

Hopefully Warnock won't piss money away on Akinbiyi instead
