For those of you who read and believed my first post on here raving about Wilder, I hope your 'appy with whats unfolding infront of you. Love to hear your thoughts....more so the ones calling him to be sacked....you silly little billys

Pleased for him and throughy expect you to kick on, he will had whats needed in Jan and my moneys on you to lift the title and end if the season.

All hail king Wilder.

Cobblers fan.

Actually, I read your OP and was encouraged so thanks for that. Thanks also for your vote of confidence. I might go and get me a half and half Blades/Cobblers scarf......with all respect, on second thoughts perhaps i shouldn't!!
First 4 game were dire. Similar to previous seasons, and then the 0-3 at home to Southend seemed to sound the end of any early pre-season optimism. Since then? Well, it's there for all to see.
Steely grit, determined fighting spirit, both important features to a Blades fan and currently being seen in abundance.
I notice you're doing pretty well so far. Is everything in the Northampton garden rosy?

I don't think there were too many calling for him to be sacked mate, but many were rightly concerned after the Southend debacle in particular. However the vast majority of us knew it was early days and were not suggesting that anyone panic and push the button. His record speaks for itself and it was inevitable he would sort us out. Absolutely chuffed to bits with what I am seeing, he has reignited everyone's mojo and long may it continue

Cautious optimism and maybe a little hope creeping in.......

Expectation? That will hopefully come but not yet! Been following the Blades for far too long to think anything other than things can and will go horribly wrong!

Very happy so far but it's still early days and you never win anything in October.

Say, Cobler,

Do Church's still have that factory shop/outlet selling shoes at reduce prices in Northampton?

Got me a nice pair of shoes a few years back from there and saved a few quid to boot (no pun intended).

That's what I meant to say. Thanks Stretch.

I never wanted Wilder at the club and while I was more thank frank about our abysmal start to the season, I never called for him to be sacked either.

My main concern was that the appointment meant abandoning the criteria that had selected the previous managers in favour of yet another change in direction from the board. More than anything, it was the board I had problems with. We seem to hire and fire managers with little rhyme or reason, and going for a League 2 manager with no experience beyond it, after having insisted we needed a manager with experience of promotion from this level and above, fit right in with that.

I thought Wilder would take over a group of players, none of which suited him, and get us playing the much more direct (dare I say, hoof) football that was on display early on.

Since that start everything seems to have changed. He's shipped out players most thought were good enough, and made better players out of ones most thought should go. We're playing the most attractive, entertaining, style of football since Wilson was here with proven Championship players in the side. The effort and work rate off the ball is phenomenal, and the class on it is producing goals. Right now we're flying. Every game looks winnable and the players are delivering performance after performance. As for the manager, I pointed out yesterday some of the tactical changes he made as the game progressed, changing the formation at 1-0 up, moving Fleck out wide to completely nullify their major threat, and such.

We're a group of fans that have been hurt too often though. We're the best at coming close and missing out. You aren't going to make believers out of the long starved fans at Bramall Lane until we see promotion is a mathematical certainty, and that's going to take another 30 games thereabout. So I'll just say, for now, he's put the hope back in us. If he goes one step further and makes promotion happen he'll rise to legendary status in the space of a season.

I don't remember too many people calling for him to be sacked. Those that did I would suggest are silly ones on here who never go but like to stir up trouble.

As others have said, we've had such a shit time and been blessed with such an array of defensive minded and generally inept managers who froze when they took a job that was too big for them that we're always going to be cautious.

Did anyone ask for him to be sacked? I think a few were unsure on the appointment and more were worried by the first four games.

Don't recall anyone asking for him to be sacked?

My prediction was a comfortable top ten finish with a possible shot at the play offs, currently looking to be much better than that.

Wow!! Some fans wanted Adkins to have more time! PMSL
