Pinchy
Blade, not Bladey.
'Ark at you complaining about hypocrisy!
Banging on about players' morality and duty to United when it suits you (Jagielka, Maguire) but yet welcoming back with open arms a player who has done far worse than mess a football club about a bit. And you had to gall to complain about 'moralistic hand-wringing' or whatever the phrase was.
Who mentioned morality? Not me. I deal in rules and regulations, not morals. Maguire can be as immoral or amoral as he likes without any criticism from me. I do, however, deprecate lack of professionalism and good faith in any walk of life.
Football is, above all, a team game. Deliberate, calculated petulance is inimical with a team ethos. Maguire behaved like a spoiled brat. His weasel words cut no ice with me.
I imagine your later reference is to Ched Evans? He made an isolated mistake. On a different day, with a different jury, he might well have been acquitted. He was not, neither will his renewed "appeal" succeed. However, he is neither a pervert nor a danger to the public. Once he has served his sentence, he is entitled (subject to his licence period) to resume a 'normal' life. Why should that not include the unfinished business of scoring the goals to take our club back to the Championship?
Note to All: Sorry to raise the Ched issue, but Guesty started it!
