Who was our best player then? He was voted our best player and just been sold for £2m to a premier league club.
£2.5 million and I'd say we have a one or two better players in the team, certainly in midfield.

Alright Nico!

He's gone let's get over it now an move on, no point crying over spilt milk!

One thing I do expect tho as I think do most of us, I want the whole of the fee re invested into the first team now. Not in January but now let's go out and grab 2-3 players we really need not just squad players but 1st team players!

Just had a chat with someone at the lane and the Harry deal could go as high as £4m with the add ons agreed.

IF that is true, then thats a cracking deal for a lge 1 defender in the last year of his contract ..by the way, what is the transfer record for a third division defender ?
Not sayin this is it ,cos I really don't know, just interested .

For everyone upset by HM departure, for whatever reason..happy who wish him the best,or those on this thread who want to see him fail, both camps will obviously be following him...maybe this song will be apt ???

:)/:(

What could Utd do, if he was so desperate to go and wanted his chance in the Premiership then there really was no option other than to get the very best deal for the club. With just one Premiership team to make any concrete offer it was fairly difficult to create a bidding war. I personally hope he is successful, I like to see academy lads excel at the highest level and of course this would also mean extra revenue for Utd.
I suspect that whatever his perceived weaknesses he will soon become a fans favourite at Hull and I would not be surprised to see him move on to a bigger Premiership club. I just hope that he isn't sporting a sleeve tattoo this time next year but if he is, I've clearly got him all wrong and you can disregard all of the above.

I am afraid this seems to be the way of modern football.

I don't blame Harry, he has secured his financial future, you can't hold that against him. Gawd knows what he will earn over the next three years, but one thing for sure it is far more than we could pay or would be allowed to pay given the FFP regulations.

The club had no choice but to sell, and the fee seems reasonable.

I would rather he had stayed, like most, but this was never going to happen, while we failed to win promotion and get out of the third tier of English football. Promotion is our only chance to hang on to the best young players. I hope Harry does well, he has been a good player for us over the last few years.

It is a bit worrying, that arguably we have lost three of our best performers from last season, and three regular first team players.

I hope the money is used now to acquire first team players - that twenty goal striker we badly need, and a decent defender to replace Harry.

HH.

And people laughed when I said we needed a new defender

I think most people just said, quite rightly, that last season, when you mentioned it, it wasn't a priority.

A striker is still the priority. We have strengthened at the back but then again at the end of last season we had Hill, Brayford, Freeman, Davies all listed as defenders... So they've been replaced.

Now that he's finally gone, i'd like to say thanks to Harry, seems like it was all abit messy in the end and i doubt we'll get the full story, but Hary has been a cracking player for us, still very young and i just feel that he probably saw the time was right to move.

If I was Harry, I'd honestly done the same. I think he could see the opportunity, not for Hull, but for England. He now has two years to make it to the Euros and if he sticks at it, he could probably make the squad at the least. England isn't blessed with solid Centre Halves like Harry just now.

Good luck Harry and thanks!

The test for all of us------- If we were in H's position, what would we do? All well and good banging on about loyalty, but if we are all honest about this, most of us would have wanted the move. However there is more than one way to skin a cat (not that I would of course) but depending upon whose version you think is correct, it was a sad end to his Blade's career.

Clough quoted as saying "it's not been rubber stamped at our end and if someone decides not to sign and call it off, hull might after unavailing Harry look very silly"
Oh there must be a few at the lane thinking lets not sign and screw over the fishing village boys :)

Have to say, that's fairly rubbish on Hull's half. And perhaps a bit arrogant. I wouldn't want us announcing anything as a done deal unless that's exactly what it was. I'm barely happy with this thread getting the 'confirmed' label as it is! :-)

Nauseating hypocrisy from Maguire.

Don't forget the sun-tan lotion. It's a bit warm round the Humber.

Oh come on, Pinchy. 'SuntanGate' has been blown out of all proportion, and I bet HM never even said it. Him and his agent have probably been talking to 'ull for weeks. They decided that last Friday's meaningless friendly with Dundee would be the time to make their play (and also avoid a possible transfer-endangering injury). HM will have told NC that he was feeling a bit 'off' and didn't want to play. NC, sniffing the wind and also mighty pissed off would have been asked by the media 'Why no Maguire?' and NC - mirroring his dad's infamous temper - would have snapped back with the first thing that came to him. In this case 'Sunstroke'.

Also, Bruce may well have put pressure on Maguire along the lines of 'Having gone this far, if you let me down I'll never come after you again, wherever I am.'

That's how it works, so no point anybody blaming NC, McCabe, the club etc. It's out of the clubs' hands.

If it's any consolation, we've yet again got a big fee (reported as £3m in some quarters) for one of our products. When was the last time Wendy did that?

Yes, Poor Old Wednesday, in a higher division and no good young players to sell! They must be green with envy!

No, it's no consolation.

I'm gutted that he's gone but then i was when Jags, Lowton, Walker, Naughton, Blackman, Sharp went also. Really wish him well and hope he does go on to make the England squad, 21 and in the big time, fair play to him.

Would have been amazing to keep him for another yr, but now time to move on.

Treading water, crap manager, decrepit stadium, non-existent takeover. We could/should be leaving them way behind.

As I said, even though we keep selling players which we have no control over, at least we keep the money rolling in. Wednesday aren't a selling club because nobody is interested in buying any of their players. The last £3m player they sold? Christ Brunt, a mere seven years ago.

The wind of change is blowing (not :tumbleweed: as at Hillsborough) and we've a lot more to look forward to than them.

“We’ve not signed the paperwork at our end yet,” he said. “I’m sure it will all go through and we can’t control what happens elsewhere but, say somebody here decided not to sign it off, then they might be in danger of looking a little bit silly.”

..A parting shot from Clough?
That would be quite funny...wouldn't it???

He's gone, It's over let's forget about him, Goodluck against Alexis Sanchez Harry, you'll need it.

We had control over Maguire...

I wish nothing but misery for the Pigs but this is a joke. They are in a higher league than us and for all this guff about game changing investment we are still selling our eat young players, have nothing up front and a weaker squad than 3 months ago.

'Ark at you complaining about hypocrisy!

Banging on about players' morality and duty to United when it suits you (Jagielka, Maguire) but yet welcoming back with open arms a player who has done far worse than mess a football club about a bit. And you had to gall to complain about 'moralistic hand-wringing' or whatever the phrase was.

I wonder who we'll be selling this time next year just before we embark on our fifth season in League One?

We really are a fucking joke.

It's OK, we can make a big show of trying (and failing) to get any more money from the buyer in order the placate a large section of the fan base.

Theres a good point in here. In spite of investments and how great things have been under Clough we have still sold our best player. Theres a fair argument that nothing has actually changed within this. I don't agree because you will need to see if we spend the money from HM to strengthen and most likely you won't know until the season starts at the very least. However, for those who think everything is now rosy we have just sold our best player and in spite of what people think we didn't HAVE to.
