The only questions for the club now that it looks like we've got the money are:
- Can we spend it on a quality new striker?
- Can we buy Brayford?

The answer so far to both of those, again from Clough, is that we're trying to bring in a Championship Striker (albeit on loan, which is slightly worrying, given past history with Loanees "pre clough") and Clough is going back to Cardiff over Brayford.

If Clough pulls both off then i'll be happy.

I think it's becoming increasingly clear that Brayford is for the time being beyond reach, given OGS appears to have now discovered a basic ability to gauge to talents of the players at his disposal. Brayford is hardly going to do a Harry and force the issue. The signings of Alcock, Basham and Davies mean that while they are not as talent as Brayford, we are almost certainly much better off in that position than we were 12 months ago.

As for the loans, I'm not worried about our pre-Clough history - based on his signings to-date, I'm willing to trust his judgment.

One thing you can say about Harry Maguire, he's always given 100% for Utd what's more he comes across as a genuine, honest and sensible lad. Yes he appears to have engineered a move but fair enough, if that's what he wants and with the salaries involved who can blame him, there is little loyalty shown by clubs towards players, so I don't understand how we can expect it from players to their club?
I first saw Maguire against Villa in the Youth Cup Semi and he was the best player on the pitch by a mile. I will miss his performances, for there determination, passion and commitment, qualities that I am sure will make him a success at Hull.
Good luck to him, his efforts in a Utd shirt have certainly merited this opportunity and I wish him well. :(

Loyalty is not the issue. Unprofessional, disrespectful behaviour is unacceptable. I Hope it's not too sunny in Kingston-upon-Hull.

Just thought I'd put this comment here from Steve Bruce in their local press...

"I am delighted to confirm that Sheffield United have accepted our original offer," said Bruce.

"Obviously, Harry now has to come through his medical but we expect to confirm that he is our player."

Yes, I am sure Maguire will reflect on that as he signs his mega contract that such behaviour apparently got him.

I wouldn't believe that piece of shit if he told me the world was round.

Always amazes me that we are ready to take other people's comments at face value but our own are basically lying with every statement that they make. (Not aimed at Loughborough just people on here in general)

Got to agree, same with some of my mates, we say that hull have met uniteds valuation, Clough says its a new bid in a radio interview, Hull release a statement that basically says nowt and united are obviously lying......

A line drawn in the sand to end this sorry saga. Onwards and upwards to better times.

Perhaps, now he has taken the thirty pieces off silver, Harry will reimburse those loyal enough to have had his name on their very expensive shirts, but perhaps not.

It could be that the "original offer" means that the amount is still the same, but that the payments have been restructured so that the money comes to United sooner.

So Hull can we say "we offered £2M last week and that is what we are paying now, so SUFC have accepted our original offer"

And SUFC can say "Hull have now agreed to pay us £1M before Xmas when last week, we were only getting £500K before Xmas, so this is a new offer"

And neither is lying.

Why should he? When people bought the shirts they didn't come with any guarantee that he would spend the rest of his career at United.

Personally really hope HM is a success and fulfills all the addon criteria so we get the extra £1million+ after that can't say I'm bothered at all by what he does as it will have no impact on my club.

I will say that if he has thrown a strop then that's very disappointing and not something I would have expected.

I can't see many people will have had his name on their shirt, hopefully waiting until the close of the transfer window. I know I'm waiting until the squad numbers are confirmed before getting Jose's number on my boy's shirt.

Lets not forget at the end of the day Harry is a Pig, we may have nurtured his talent, given him his break and made him player of the year 3 years on the spin but did he ever view Bramall Lane and SUFC as any more than his place of work and employer.....I doubt it.....once a pig always a pig.

Good luck to him.

Yes, because, if he had been a United fan, he would have turned down the chance of tripling his wages and playing in the PL....

Here's my take on the latest situation

Those thinking Harry will be bench fodder. Wasn't Lowton going to be the same when he left?

I agree, Lowton was ever-present bar 1 premiership game in his first season. I think some people just feel so aggrieved that players leave their beloved club that they just switch their comments to suit. It goes from "Tell em to bugger off, he's worth more than £3m" TO "He'll not even make their bench, championship player at best"... It's sour grapes.

Harry will do well i'm sure. He has mixed it with the big boys in the past and has performed very well indeed. On the ball he's composed so will fit into the premiership well IMO.

I can only see two issues with him in the prem - Didier Drogba beating the shit out of him or someone with pace taking the piss out of him.

Having said that; Steve Bruce has done/is doing great with Hull. Curtis Davies for example was shite and now he's knocking on England's door.

Those people are probably not utterly reliant on their body being in peak condition though are they? His football career could be ended next week with a bad tackle in training, with no alternative career to fall back on. I certainly don't blame him for taking the money.
I'm not utterly reliant on my body being in peak condition for my job, and yet I still have insurance incase I'm unable to do it.
I'm sure footballers have the same with understandable higher premiums and payouts to match their higher wages.
If he got an injury at 21 that ended his career, why is it so inconceivable to them, that they may have to do something else for a living for the next 49 years like most other people would? This is one contract in his career, if he's backing his own faith in his ability then that's great I hope it turns out for him, if he's doing it to secure his future he's a short termist fool.

How the club has dealt with this whole situation absolutely reeks. Feels to me like Harry has engineered this move, fair enough. We'd all do the same like other Blades have said. He's 21 and having the opportunity to play in the premier league after seasons in league one would be a dream come true.

Don't panic, 3mill would be a great deal for us. If we've gone for anything less I'll be slightly disappointed however.

Baxter, Scougall, Flynn and Murphy are a scary set of players and your all forgetting what we did in the FA Cup and the second part of last season. Have faith in Clough!

I don't understand how so? We've seemingly got a hell of a lot more than we have been proven to get recently for a player only experience at our level. What should the club have done? Told Harry he could go earlier so he didn't make a fuss?

By saying the situation reeks I mean, I find it a little fishy how we issued a statement saying we'd accepted a bid only for Hull City to put out a statement back stating that they had no idea about it and then Steve Bruce says that the bid we'd accepted had been their previous one (which Clough had said was below our valuation).

I have a feeling that the transfer feel will be undisclosed because we've probably accepted a below-par bid due to fuss Maguire kicked up.

The (with tongue firmly in cheek) point I was making Dazzler was to those questioning Harry's loyalty

Why can't he be doing it for both?

Case in point. Believe the opposition doubt our own.

Well thats your personal opinion not his.
...and unless someone's got an inside line into Harry's decision making process all we know is that he's looked to force a move to a Premiership club. We don't know if that is because of the money and securing his future or because he honestly believes he's going to move from a league one club to Premiership club playing in Europe and be a first team starter.
We're all working on personal opinions here.

As i said before, why is it an one or the other. He could have well gone for both reasons.

To make it as a professional footballer, you need to have a fair amount of self-confidence. In Harry's mind, why wouldn't he be able to break into the Hull starting XI?
After 3 years in League One I certainly wouldn't blame him for the chance to play at the Emirates, Old Trafford instead of Leyton Orient, Swindon, Colchester for the fourth year in a row.

Well, you have your standards; I have mine.

I have no interest in what Maguire thinks or has achieved. I am commenting on his conduct which was unprofessional and disrespectful to our club. If that doesn't matter to you, so be it.
