Quite a few athletes say fasting does legitimately help them perform better.

My boxing coach is an elite level professional, ranked globally. He fasts every Ramadan and reckons it gives him an edge for the rest of the year. He says it’s mainly psychological - helps him to stay humble and grounded. But there’s a load of good science now around intermittent fasting and how it helps the body repair itself. The fact he doesn’t booze must have a major benefit as well. He’s 31 now but looks like a 24 year old.

It would be great if we did. I really wish we made more of Diwali. It's a great festival and it lands nicely in and around Halloween and Bonfire Night.

It also means that we have fireworks every night from mid-October to mid-November. I don't have a problem with any of the festivals per se, religious or otherwise, but all the fucking fireworks make being a dog owner quite difficult.
