Would that work well within a 4-2-2-2?

something like below? seems strange that we haven't seen Selles try other formations that he has with other clubs and I saw 4-2-2-2 being spoken about as one of those options.

was just reading something about Ralf Ranrick using that formation with double pivots but wasn't sure if it was the same idea or different

Potentially! I think the only issue there would be creativity. The only two chance creators in that side are Hamer and Burrows. Even O'Hare isn't really capable of regularly creating shot-creating actions. You'd probably need to swap O'Hare out for a Chair / Chakvetadze type number 10, or shift things around to get Burrows higher up the pitch.

What about something like this, with matos as CDM, Soumare & peck as 8s with hamer & ohare 10s... high and wide fullbacks and hamer ohare allowed to drift into pockets and wide (or chong over ohare).

It’s ok mate. They been playing a number 8/10 supposedly as a number 6.

Surely the simplest fix is to go back to a 4-2-3-1 and give Hamer (fingers crossed for the next 4 hours) a free role either in the 10 or off the left with burrows overlapping, and if we go Godfrey at RB then 3 strong defenders staying back.

We then have Ings, Chong, Barry/O’Hare, Brooks, One, Soumare providing competition for the midfield & striker which suddenly looks much stronger. Possibly Mee instead of Robinson.

Formation wasn’t the issue last season with us being passive. I’d like to see us go back to what we know formation wise with proper wingers but pressing high on the front foot.
