The playoff final showed us a snapshot of life after Hamer, when he went off injured. Effectiveness or not, in form or not, he's the only one who effectively shows for the ball constantly and tries to make something happen. The rest are, for want of a better phrase, a supporting cast. I.e. good players, but they supplement a playmaker, they aren't the playmaker in their own right. This could be about to get very grim, if we don't sign at least one player with the balls to dictate play.
My first thoughts too... lets sign another winger and stick him in CMNot too optimistic about this list if they're looking at wingers to replace a number 8?
To be honest, Hamer shouldn't be playing as an 8. I think once he leaves and we add the midfield additions proposed we’ll look a lot more balanced, despite Hamers obvious qualities. Not too optimistic about this list if they're looking at wingers to replace a number 8?
We have some muppets amongst our fanbaseHow can you say Soumare is dross - he's only played half a game?? He looked ok to me.
FFS - players don't even get half a game now before they are written off.
He's always wanted to work under Steve Cooper. Why would Manhoef leave Stoke?
Because we might offer him more money. Stoke aren't suddenly some hugely better team than us just because weve started shit. Why do people think that nobody will want to come just because weve had a poor start? Why would Manhoef leave Stoke?
Have you ever been to Stoke? Why would Manhoef leave Stoke?
Who could blame him Selles is way out of his depth from contenders last season to also rans hoping to finish ahead of wendySo the cat is out of the bag......Hamer wants to leave because of Selles.>
As per information from our chief football correspondent, Graeme Bailey, EFL Analysis understands that Hamer had told his people in the last week to ‘find him a way out’ of Sheffield United.
He said: “He is not convinced by Ruben Selles, and this led to fresh talks with PSV, who were told of the player’s desire to move.”
COH the Owners or COH aka rabbit manAlready obvious Hamer and COH don't work as part of 3, give no support to a DM (though need proper one). Need B2B workhorse to link attacking orientated CM with DM. One of Hamer and COH not both. If goes Peck (for now) to CM with Matos/Soumare as DM (unless Soumare could be the B2B?). Blaster to come in once back or Davies if ever fit. Suddenly midfield gets balance it desperately needs. Will also help provide cover for defence to give Burrows more licence to be player of last year rather than pub player looks just now.
But wait...Huge if true
Hamer was Veerman's replacement
Keep Gus, Robbo out, Mee in - Tek that

But wait...
Given Brentford just got 55m for Wissa id imagine we can extract more money out of them than we could PSVOh FFS!!
Word is he’s settled here, but pull of Holland is strong, Brentford tick neither of those so they can fuck off![]()
But wait...
Genuine question on Hamer, what formation and position would get the best out of him.
He has done amazing things with us, but I don't remember matches where he was unplayable or completely ran the show. He produces moments of magic but for 60 or 70 minutes, where should be be playing?
There's a good analysis of how Coventry used him here, which I think was Gus at his best:Genuine question on Hamer, what formation and position would get the best out of him.

Well he won POTS playing LW in a 4231, but I always think of him being perfect for the old "Duffy role"Genuine question on Hamer, what formation and position would get the best out of him.

Gustavo Hamer: Coventry’s Midfield Orchestrator - Breaking The Lines
It’s only a matter of time until Gustavo Hamer finds himself back in top-flight competition: via promotion with Mark Robins’ ever-improving Coventry City or a transfer to another club. Although the 24-year-old recently signed a contract extension with the Sky Blues until July 2024, he is the...breakingthelines.com
tldr: playmaking double-pivot in a 3-4-1-2 / 3-4-2-1
It's the male version of starting an onlyfansWho the fuck are all these random nobodies on twitter with about 500 followers?
Would that work well within a 4-2-2-2?
