I have just read the Guardian report on the Man Utd v Blades game. Twelve paragraphs and the only time it mentions us is to say that George Long saved a shot. Typical!

Quite right. We created absolutely nothing, had no attacking threat, no pattern of play and no clear method of counter attacking other than a few give and go's between coutts and brayford. We just booted it aimlessly forward everytime we got possession.

The fact that we defended well against the poorest man united team in a generation who are devoid of confidence has clouded fans views of our performance.

The best thing about that game was the support from our fans, brilliant noise and support.

To be fair t'Grauniad is fairly kind to us in general.

They are, John ashdown is a blade and always gives us a mention on the football weekly podcast, they gave us good coverage in the cups runs the past few years

I know that we created little, but football is also about good defending, which deserved a mention. The whole report is looking at the game from a Man Uted point of view. They are a huge club, but the Guardian could at least acknowledge us!

It was an influential performance at Manchester.

Everton are employing the same attitude / tactics as ours tonight at The Etihad.

Influential in what way?

It didn't do much to influence our defending at Wigan.

We stuck 10 men behind the ball and remained very compact, against a team with inverted wingers and zero pace centrally, and almost no mobility coming from center mid. No wonder they didn't create much. From a defensive stand point it was probably pretty easy.

Not much point in putting much emphasis on this performance. If we can't keep clean sheets in the league against league 1 teams it's irrelevant.

Reverting back to the stone age It was the MANCHESTER Guardian after all.

I'll write this slower, so you can see what I wrote...

Everton
are
employing
the
same
attitude / tactics
as
ours
tonight
at
The Etihad.

Got that?
Sure?

Ha ha, yeah I'm sure Everton saw our performance and were so impressed that they allowed it to influence their tactics.

Sticking 10 men behind the ball isn't revolutionary and nor is it influential. And it had further zero influence on our defensive performance on Tuesday night.

Hopefully Everton won't be influenced by our giving away of a daft last minute penalty.

Alternatively...We shut out a £400m team, top six of Division 1 so we could get them back to the Lane - with all the benefits that brings. And we did it pretty comfortably.

The inability to read between the lines is quite astounding.

Congratulations Borbokis.

Top Of The Pops, straight in at No.1.

I don't agree with your unreasonably unpleasant posting style.

Just thought I'd register that.

I have to say we did nothing on the attacking front, cast your minds back to the Hull semi final that's what I call having a go, the players that day could not even walk off the park they were that tired. When we returned home I watched the Adkins interview before the game which made me laugh, as he said we will give it a good go as we are not the favourites. Well I can only say if that what he calls having a go, we are in trouble. When you think of all our support who attended I felt sorry for all of us.

That's the trouble with us liberal leftys we somehow think the world should be a fairer place
Yes but supporting the Blades soon brings us back to reality!
