Lets not forget he was our only real threat in that match so they marked him with two defenders. After he didn't bother turning up at Wemberlee in 2009, I wouldn't want an even older slower version back at BDTBL.
Undoubtedly he had skill but his attitude stank for me.
I thought that the keeper, the back four (including a young Kyle Walker) and Monty had great games that day. Sadly no-one else wanted to put a shift in and we never looked like scoring.
It was more depressing than the previous Palace/Wolves finals although little did we know that in time, it would be overshadowed by the Huddersfield debacle.
I cannot believe you are suggesting we get rid of players that possibly still have potential and the energy to develop and replace them with a player who is just wanting to pick up wages!Been told he can leave Rotherham.
In addition to offloading Alcock, if we were to get rid of the likes of McGahey and Freeman then I reckon Halford would be an astute signing.
I wouldn't be shocked if he goes back to Colchester, or some other lower 3rd division side. That's about his level now at best I reckon
No no never no ,idleness personified ,didn't rate him before ,and so many managers have given up on him. read Roy Keanes book ,his worst signing ever by a mile.

what makes you believe he is still a decent player when he has been released early to get some other clubs wages down.McGahey has shown nothing to suggest he will develop - poor loan spell at Tranmere, in trouble behind the scenes, done absolutely nothing when called upon in our first team.
Freeman is not going to get a look in with Brayford back, that's been made clear with his absence since JBs return.
In our situation (5 years league 1, 40+ senior players) how long do we keep hoping certain players will show something or develop?
Id rather ship 3/4 out, save the wages, and bring in 1 decent player who can cover the positions very competently. Wages saved and less players on the book.

I wanted him in the summer but he seems to have declined quite worryingly this season.
I'd take him on reasonable terms until the end of the season, League One's very different to the Championship and he should do well in it. I don't think he'd be lazy either, he seems to have a lot of time for our club and fans.
To be honest I'd probably play him centre forward if we signed him. I think he'd score goals there in this division. If not, then centre half or centre midfield.
No I don't .Like most people who make suggestions or comment on other players, its from a few appearances made on TV over the last season or so, he still has the ability - especially to provide cover at League 1 level.
What makes you think he's just wanting to pick up a wage?
Do you not agree with my comments on Freeman/McGahey? How long would you give a 5th choice centre back and back up full back?
No I don't .
To be fair the threads were started at pretty much the same time only this one would have taken longer to type...
He was good a few years ago past it now. I remember the Burnley final we had no threat left to field up front so they double teamed Halford they had scouted us well.Yes but, if we get to the Play Off final, he can play upfront... again!
