After he didn't bother turning up at Wemberlee in 2009, I wouldn't want an even older slower version back at BDTBL.

Undoubtedly he had skill but his attitude stank for me.
Lets not forget he was our only real threat in that match so they marked him with two defenders.

I thought that the keeper, the back four (including a young Kyle Walker) and Monty had great games that day. Sadly no-one else wanted to put a shift in and we never looked like scoring.

It was more depressing than the previous Palace/Wolves finals although little did we know that in time, it would be overshadowed by the Huddersfield debacle.

The same Monty who typified our display that day by putting a 5-yard pass 3 yards behind Kyle Walker and out of play....leaving Kyle looking completely bemused

The same MONTY who's first touch led to the second touch being a tackle which he missed that led to the Burnley goal

Been told he can leave Rotherham.

In addition to offloading Alcock, if we were to get rid of the likes of McGahey and Freeman then I reckon Halford would be an astute signing.

I've been his biggest critic but have we completely given up on McGahey then?

A name that has been touted around a good few times over recent years and I feel that this is probably the best opportunity we will have of signing the lad again.

Rotherham have released him early from his 2 year contract therefore he is a free agent and probably lives local as well?

Not too sure on where his ability lays these days but surely he is more than good enough still for this league? Is he the missing no-nonsense CB that we are looking for?

Halford is a talented player, but more than one manager has questioned his work ethic, seems to be in the comfort zone.
Can`t see Adkins taking on such a player.

Another player on his way down.

I'm one of his biggest fans but it would totally go against the transfer strategy we should be adopting so it's a no from me.

3 or 4 years ago I would have definitely taken him, but as others have already said he's nowhere near as good now as he was when we had him before and its also become evident that he has a very questionable attitude too

I wouldn't be shocked if he goes back to Colchester, or some other lower 3rd division side. That's about his level now at best I reckon

I cannot believe you are suggesting we get rid of players that possibly still have potential and the energy to develop and replace them with a player who is just wanting to pick up wages!

I wanted him in the summer but he seems to have declined quite worryingly this season.

I'd take him on reasonable terms until the end of the season, League One's very different to the Championship and he should do well in it. I don't think he'd be lazy either, he seems to have a lot of time for our club and fans.

To be honest I'd probably play him centre forward if we signed him. I think he'd score goals there in this division. If not, then centre half or centre midfield.

No no never no ,idleness personified ,didn't rate him before ,and so many managers have given up on him. read Roy Keanes book ,his worst signing ever by a mile.

Yes but, if we get to the Play Off final, he can play upfront... again!

McGahey has shown nothing to suggest he will develop - poor loan spell at Tranmere, in trouble behind the scenes, done absolutely nothing when called upon in our first team.

Freeman is not going to get a look in with Brayford back, that's been made clear with his absence since JBs return.

In our situation (5 years league 1, 40+ senior players) how long do we keep hoping certain players will show something or develop?

Id rather ship 3/4 out, save the wages, and bring in 1 decent player who can cover the positions very competently. Wages saved and less players on the book.

what makes you believe he is still a decent player when he has been released early to get some other clubs wages down.

Like most people who make suggestions or comment on other players, its from a few appearances made on TV over the last season or so, he still has the ability - especially to provide cover at League 1 level.

What makes you think he's just wanting to pick up a wage?

Do you not agree with my comments on Freeman/McGahey? How long would you give a 5th choice centre back and back up full back?

If we had a much smaller squad, I'd be tempted by him for his versatility. As you say, he could do a job in so many positions. But surely we could sign a better striker? We have a lot of average cover.

No I don't .

Didn't rate him first time myself although Blackwell had him all over the shop ,good throw on him but so has Fatima Whitbread. He can get on his bike for me :)
