Yeah. He's not cool enough for that. I doubt he's got the stones for it. Unless he's reading and wants to prove otherwise...

Why would he come here anyway when the top boy from Millwall would take him down? :p

Bummer.

Hope he asks NC what happened with Coady.

not this again

let's try this

AG: What happened with Coady ?
NC: Liverpool wanted to look at him in the close season. We wanted the majority of our deals done early and so we brought in Wallace and Basham plus we knew Louis Reed would be involved. In view of this, a bid wasn't put in for him as we already have enough players in that area of the pitch. We will only bring in someone who will improve us in that area.

Hope he asks NC what happened with Coady.

From what I've been able to pick up:

June
We enquire about Coady and are quoted a price of £1-£1.5m (depending on who you believe) by Liverpool

July
We enquire again and are quoted the same price
We decide that Coady isn't worth £1m+
We sign Basham and Wallace and Louis Reed is one of the revelations of pre-season, leaving us with 6 first team central midfielders, plus Dimaio and Cuvelier in reserve

August
It becomes evident that Liverpool's asking price has dropped to £375k but we have moved on.

Coady would have been a good signing but he would have meant dropping Basham - who Clough has got here on the promise of first team football. I know Basham didn't have the greatest game on Saturday but Clough evidently trusts that he'll come good and doesn't want to risk upsetting the dressing room.

You know for a fact we weren't in for him and he chose Championship footy? And you don't think Coady would improve us in that area? Just interested to hear it from Nigel.

Yes I know for a fact we didn't put in a bid for him....we enquired about his availability and at what price (source: a senior club employee). No I didn't ask what price Liverpool quoted to us.

No I don't think he would improve what we have now(especially Wallace if/when he is fully fit). He was good at disappearing in the difficult games last season and I don't think it would be worth pushing the boat out for

Yeah whilst ever we are in this league we will be rumaging around the bottom of the barrel for cast offs.
Or picking up rough diamonds - that seems to me what NC is trying to do, and good on him, I say.

No thanks. Good skills with the ball, poor defender even in his prime. Never quite means it enough IMO.

Cult player because he always put a shift in and always had nice things to say about us. Kind of agree with the above though, he isn't the sort of "star" player you want to rely on to disprove the "never go back" theory (even at this level?). Maybe if we can get him on the cheap as a utility/bench/fill in for injuries type player, but can't see it (I think other teams might be interested and Adkins almost certainly has his own favourite for that role, if he even has one in his team, I would imagine?).

His biggest asset was his long throw. A typical Blackwell signing.

After he didn't bother turning up at Wemberlee in 2009, I wouldn't want an even older slower version back at BDTBL.

Undoubtedly he had skill but his attitude stank for me.

When people judge these ex players, it seems they forget we are at a lower level than when they previously played for us.

Unfortunately, that applied to all 11 on the pitch that day.

I thought that the keeper, the back four (including a young Kyle Walker) and Monty had great games that day. Sadly no-one else wanted to put a shift in and we never looked like scoring.

It was more depressing than the previous Palace/Wolves finals although little did we know that in time, it would be overshadowed by the Huddersfield debacle.

I seem to remember him playing in every position that season apart from goal, especially a game where he started up front. Scored then moved to midfield, then to defence.

Think Naughton made him look better on the right and side though.

You cannot be Sirius!
