It's a real shame that you won't be joining us back in the second tier. But I believe you've got this latest appointment right in Chris Wilder. And your first additions to your squad for next season are promising, on paper. The lad Hussey was Bury's standout player the day we beat them 3-0. Wonderful set pieces and likes to bomb on. Suspect defensively, but most modern full backs are. And Duffy was quite tricky in both games against us despite us getting two clean sheets. He didn't cut the mustard in the second tier, but he's certainly a top player in the third division as last season proved. You've finally got shut of the dross, including Barnsley rejects JCR and JayMac. They were spent five and six years ago when we had them, chuff knows how they've lasted so long with you. I see you've retained Matty Done though. He's a trier, bless him. Another one we released. Top talent at that level on his day, if played where he can impact games. To be fair, we saw him in the second tier where he struggled in the main.

I was impressed with Che Adams last season, certainly looks one for the future if developed accordingly and the keeper, Long is it? He's played a lot of games whilst young. Fat Billy is always good for a goal especially from the penalty spot. After that? Can't say I'm clued up enough on your team. But it's a world away from ten years ago isn't it? Still can't get my head around the fact you're still down there. When we waved you off in 2011 at your place, no way did I envisage you still being there now. We've been down and back up and won two trophies in that time. Even Wednesday are 'on their way back', although not as quickly as they'd probably thought a few weeks back. They obviously found the right investment eventually whereas United clearly didn't. I remember hearing statements a couple of years ago out of Bramall Lane talking about game changing investment, 'think Liverpool' or summat. I know you bought him with that beard who doesn't play much for quite a hefty fee for an established third division club, but other than that, nothing seems to have improved at the Lane. It's strange, looking in from afar as a neutral. Even more so when little old Barnsley give teams a 17 point head start but still get promoted with a team of freebies, kids and loanees.

I would imagine it'll be a stronger third division next time around, with MK Dons, Charlton, Bolton, Oxford and Bristol Rovers joining you. All have a bit of coin for the level, decent crowds etc. No doubt you will be bookies favourite for the title again. Do Blades player crumble under the weight of that pressure? Can they not handle playing in front of such huge crowds? You've had the best squad on paper, for most of the years down there. Is it six years now, five? I've lost count. [insert dingle related joke]

I suppose it all comes down to pure bad luck.

And so that's why I posted this thread. Hence the title. Good luck next season.

If you're finally promoted, you can thank me at the appropriate moment.

"Fat Billy", er lol, I suppose.

Crowing's never the most pleasant of qualities & it has a terrible habit of coming back & biting you in the arse but, hey ho, horses for courses.

Well done to you lot anyway. A hell of an achievement coming back from the hole you'd dug for yourselves & a very worthy promotion in the end, with a really exciting young side. Hope you stop up next season, & I believe you will. I suppose keeping Hammill will be key.

Fucking hell shouldn't you still be furiously masturbating cos you got a new stand built in the 90s?

Another little irrelevant football club that will drop back to its level in next few years.
