Quite a list

Fotheringham
Bash
Baldock
Egan
Lowe
Bogle
Norwood
Fleck
McBurnie
Ndaiye
Berge
Sharp
Stevens
Osborne
Jebbison
Macatee
Doyle

Quite a list of 17 that will be hard to replace.
Can’t cope with these spellings, it’s worse than Burrows not signing.

4 of that list, still offer us something, rest no
Mcatee ( loan)
Doyle ( loan)
Illy ( left for money)
Mcburnie ( contract ran down)
So your point is totally pointless. Rest injured or crook or passed there sell by date.

Let's actually look at these players in a bit more detail and context based on our last promotion season.

Fotheringham - Never really been amazing, and would say he's as good as Davies
Bash - Getting on, bit part player in the last promotion season
Baldock - Played 36 games 1 goal 3 assists - not groundbreaking for a RWB in the system we played - then spent the following season injured for almost all of it..
Egan - This one will certainly need to be replaced, not only a leader but a real first team on the sheet player at the back - however went and spent the entire season after this one injured
Lowe - Played 26 games (injured for the rest) in the last promotion season 1 goal 5 assists - again not groundbreaking in the system we played (Burrows probably a step up already here)
Bogle - Funnily enough, played only 20 times one because of injury and 2 because Baldock was ahead of him - I think this one shouldn't be too hard to replace either
Norwood - Played 44 games but from my memory, people wanted him out of the team for Doyle - when Doyle did come in we had an upturn in form - getting on don't think this will be too hard to replace.
Fleck - 26 games, but very much a squad player and getting on abit. Best days about 4 years ago? Well behind him
McBurnie - 38 games - 13 goals - hard to replace? Probably not, we have a player (Moore) who can probably get those numbers this season
Ndaiye - Biggest void to fill, but genuinely believe O'Hare could be better than N'Diaye was this season
Berge - Hit and miss, 37 games played 6 goals 5 assists and I believe Hamer will output more than that this season
Sharp - As good as Sharp has been, his decline has been rapid over the last year
Stevens - Left us a while ago
Osborn - Mainly a sub to come on at the end of games as a midfielder (??) - or filling in for injuries...
Jebbison - Played next to no first team games for us, scoring only one competitive game almost 5 years ago...
Mcatee - Ok, excellent in our promotion season, but I think we could get a similar type of loan this window from a Man City/Man U/Liverpool
Doyle - As above - fully expect us to get this type of loan, too.

So taking everything into account, are we really that much weaker without the 17 above?

I don't think so...

I didn't particularly like any of them.

Or if you are Tim Sherwood, Foveranum, or Foverington. Thank god we don’t have to hear the biased, nasal dronings of that inane turd this season.

Agree. It was the way he consistently sneered and seemed to gloat at any misfortune that we had last season (and we had a lot!) and the way he revelled in late winners against us etc. If I had been in the same room as him when Spurs scored in the 68th minute of injury time against us last season, I would have been serving time now. Shithouse of a man. He's tried that football management malarkey, been found wanting, so they've shipped him over to Soccer Saturday so that he can bore everyone senseless with his inane cock-er-nee twang. I'm not a fan of the man it must be said.

It's an interesting list and a sign of how fast teams transition generally these days. Not counting the young lads who had the odd game, the only players left from that promotion team I think are Anel / RND / Brewster / Osula / A. Davies / Robinson.

Current replacements (obviously not like for like in some cases) are below. The odd upgrade, but a lot of gaps or improvements still to be filled. Obvious areas where we currently look weaker.

We need a 1st choice goalie
We need a strong leader in central defence
We need a 1st choise right back
We need goalscorers - which is probably the biggest issue

I guess some of the kids might fill one or two of those gaps, especially at a squad level but we currently look a long way off with 13 days to kick off. The 5 loan slots are likely to be key to our season.

Foderingham - Grbic
Baldock - Curtis
Bogle - Seriki
Bash - Sachdev
Egan -
Ciaran Clark - Trusty
Lowe - Burrows
Stevens - McCallum
Osborne - Shackleton
Norwood - Arblaster
Fleck - Brooks
Berge - Hamer
Macatee - O'Hare/ Slimane
Doyle - Souza/T Davies
McBurnie - Moore
Ndaiye -
Sharp -
Jebbison -

I think we are on the way to having a more rounded and technically better team than that one.

Take Ndiaye & Berge out and the team is just average.
This squad is being built and technically is going to be better ! Just need the defence to take shape as we are really thin on the ground, goalkeeper &centre backs the issue.

It would be interesting to know what the impact is to the wage bill of losing that bunch.

Quite a lot of medium to high wages dropping off there.

The fact of the matter is that many of those players based on 22/23 form would walk in to the starting line up as it stands now, and almost all of them would get a place in the squad.

That's not a good sign if we want promotion this year.

Even after last season's form and injuries, there are still plenty on that list that would strengthen us.

Obviously there are a few weeks of the transfer window left yet, so that will hopefully change. I doubt it will change significantly though.

I'm very worried about our squad as it stands, but to be fair I reckon 7 of those are probably upgrades.

5 downgrades
4 not replaced at all
2 like for like

Some of that is guesswork at this stage, obviously.

Phew, and there was I thinking that was a team good enough to get us promoted to the Prem!

Don't know if this is bonkers but if we're short at the back for the 1st couple of games would it not make sence to play vini in defense .
I'm not one of these tactical nerds , just looking for a big enough guy who can tackle and head a ball .

Watching the pre-season matches I would say we are getting there but I think the comparison with the list is silly.

We aren't a premier league team right now and the team needed trimming and the wages needed to drop.

I think we are a GK and RCB short (possibly a striker) I do have some hope in Brewster and Osula but I think our midfield and wide players will add more goals.

Wouldn't be nervous starting with Seriki and Curtis as our RB's

Apart from a couple of names on there. I think it's been much needed.....

The team has gotten stale.

Now the test will be...... Can we get in enough players who will freshen up the place.

Dyslexia, even in it's mild form (as i have had from being a kid), is sometimes a bit tough especially when the know all's take the piss.
This won't stop me from posting on here, as at 70 years old you learn to ignore the ignorant.
UTB!

Yep I have it mildly too and it's remarkable how you can write something getting words mixed up that feels completely correct at first then if you go back and see your mistakes at a later point a real weird feeling to know your brain has tricked you!

Ignore piss takers it shows them up more than you tbh

wish some would make their minds up ,
the moaners said we were lucky to get up , now oh god help us weve let all the stars go

all have aged 2 years which negates half of that list on age alone as they get to mid thirties

we needed new blood , better leaders on the pitch
2 or 3 have retired through injury

youth is the way forward,
