Never heard of them before, now after 30mins of ignoring every weight in the gym I've heard everyone of their songs on YouTube.

EPB are very good at what they do. Having said that to me they are a novelty band, a one trick pony. They are the equivalent. of the ultimate 'Bladey Blade' who wallow in the nostalgia of being from Sheffield and play up to every Sheffield stereotype. They are a 'Sheffey Sheff'. Particularly the singer Shaun who tries to be the most 'Sheffield' of the lot of them. He only just stops short of saying he was brought up in a hole in the street ( a reference for the older forum users).

I saw a concert of theirs at the Crucible. They were on stage for well over two hours which was about an hour and a half too long. Their 'trick' is to change the lyrics and put a Sheffield slant on well known classics, and once you've got the 'joke' that's all there is to them. Having said that the packed crucible seemed to love them!

Mildly entertaining for a few songs but that's as far as it goes.

Agree. Buggered Up Shoulder is funny when you first hear it but once you have, you'd rather hear the original. Similarly, 'oil int ruwad' is faintly nostalgic for people over 40 (or 30 perhaps, I've lost track) but I couldn't listen to them for two hours or more.

Yes I liked 'oil int rooaad' as well. I agree though once you've heard it, well you've heard it!

Pete Mckee and his son are in the band yeah, also Toby Foster was until he left last year? I think maybe before that.

They also own or have a big involvment in The Brothers Arms pub in Heeley.
 
That's 3 piggies in the band then, my grandad tells me it's all blades up there too(he's originally from Heeley)

Big Shaun was a Blade until he married a Wendy and then went over to the dark side, although they both seemed to lose interest after the last promotion. He's also my big brother

How does that work then? Surely grounds for divorce.

Does your brother Shaun take his shoes and socks off round the house, or did he just save that delight for the Crucible? ;)
 
Saw them at the Fat Cat during Tramlines a couple of years ago and they were very funny, but I agree about most of the songs are only really all that funny the first time you hear them, the Climax of "Rovrum" (Rehab) is hilarious the first time you hear it when it's unexpected.

The only song that stands up to multiple listening IMO is "oyle in road" which sounds like it is a bit of anthem for Sheffield people of my age.

Possibly met you a few times years ago, he was in Sikorski with a good mate of mine

Right, my mate was the drummer. Had some great nights watching them, remember Shaun nearly scaring a couple to death during a gig at the Boardwalk when he jumped off stage and landed right next to where they were sat, very funny
