Us definitely
Think about it , if they did make it up as some claim,if you lived in Toy town would you not sing about a night out in Sheffield ,as being the hi lite of your week ? a night out in Rotherham stinks of people copying the original but wanting it to sound different

the Wikipedia Entry has been to-ing and fro-ing between Us and Rotherham for the last few days. A cursory glance at the edit history reveals that someone called 'Donny Owl' has been making edits. Cheeky buggers.

I thought it was actually Grimsby who started it?

Whatever, ours is the most famous version!

Thanks Linz, this will settle it once and for all! Obviously this is a very factual poll

You could be right, because according to Historical Fact, we have a history of claiming the invention of Songs. In addition did you know that Blades Fans also invented the Wheel, the Mobile phone and Volcano's

An hour and a half in and 100% people say it is ours. FACT!

Having had nights out in Rotherham, it's certainly nothing to sing about.

I'm in our Luton office today and extensive reasearch amongst the locals reveal that they've never sung it so don't want to claim it as their's AND they've only heard us sing it. That's three votes for SUFC from the Luton jury. FACT.

Trust beightonblade to spoil it ;)

 i pressed the wrong button...... mind yer our gert says i always do :D

Course its ours .... anyway even if we did nick it the song is associated with us more than anybody.

We had a thread about this ages ago with people saying that it originated in Sheffield - and that in the early days the "nights out" were in whichever part of town those doing the singing came from - - and that the original words were "a bucket of maggots" (for fishing) - before SUFC plc sanitised and marketed the version with "a gallon of Magnet".

I thought the Millers borrowed it from us after we'd been using it for a couple of years - that was the first time I'd ever heard of the song being connected to Millmoor.

For what it's worth I also remember being asked by a Fowl about "that new song YOUR LOT have got" on the way home from a night match - but couldn't tell you which one.

No real axe to grind with Rotherham - but it's a bit rich if they're claiming GCB as theirs - We all know it was written by Abbey Friary II - It says so on the big screen before every match!! :D

Ask anyone outside of these clubs who the song belongs to and most would say us. Possession being 9 tenths and all that...

Course it belongs to the Blades! People from all over the UK know it's ours! (People from all over the UK haven't even heard of Rotherham).

So jog off, Millers and think of your own song. 'You'll never walk alone' maybe?

Isn't Rotherham the little town that fed its kids with chips through the school gates

We'll the Ooo Aaah song is definitley more ours than Manures

Ooo Aaah Bob Bookar
Say Ooo Aaah Bob Bookar!

No it isn't.

Yet another incorrect claim from a united fan about a song.

Yes united used it for booker before man u for cantona but they used it for paul mcgrath before that and before united used it for booker.

Another FACT brought to you in association with a few blokes from Rotherham :)

Where do you get all this inside information from, that makes what you say right and Swiss wrong?

All wrong, it was actally written by John Denver himself on behalf of Arnold lavers and broadcast on Radio hallam in it's very early days and went a little like this...

For gate posts and fences
You'd best not use Magnet
Their products may look fine
But they're not strong enough
Try lavers of Sheffield
For frames windows and putty
Near Sheffield United
You'll come back again
Na na na na naaaaaaaaaa nah etc

Now can everyone stop falling out!

The first time my Dad ever heard it sung was by the Rotherham Blades, which just confuses matters.

There are indeed a number of stories regarding GCB and Rotherham based Blades :)

Just a quote from Wikipedia but also quotes a book on the subject

This season also saw the rise of the chant "Ooh Ah Bob Booker" in adulation of 32 year old Bob Booker, signed by Bassett from Brentford in 1989 but soon a hero to fans of the club. This would later be borrowed for Eric Cantona, but Booker maintains in the book "Match of My Life - Sheffield United" by Nick Johnson, that the chant was originally started by fans of the club.
