True, it is a better achievement. Although this season he managed just four goals at the same level in a better team. Madine managed three during his short spell with Blackpool. A dreadful team. He is only 24 as well, so has age on his side and could develop further. O'Grady is 29 now and will begin to decline, if he hasn't already.

Maybe a fair point, but if he bagged say two or three goals in the first five games, the division would magically disappear. The unity of purpose is promotion. If, and it is "if", he would help achieve that, it could only be a good thing.

As I said, it was just a suggestion and not quite as outlandish as some would like to make out. He's proved useful at this level before.

Speaking on footballing terms he could do a job for us in this league, it would be good to see him, Davies and O'Grady all come because you can never have enough strikers, good competition makes them work harder to stay in the team, all these along with McNulty and Done and we'd have a great chance of promotion.

With the view that this coming season is dedicated to achieving promotion, shouldn't we be looking to sign the best we can afford, much as we did when we embraced the return if Brayford? I've made the point elsewhere, but if we'd signed Callum Wilson we would have a, potentially, Premiership quality player, and for a price that, with hindsight, will look like good business. Yes, the idea of COG is welcome, as alongside Done we have an unknown quality at a higher division.
The key, or at least one of them, will be how well Wallace (J) comes through a pre-season and then the beginning of the new season. A saved fee, plus a brand new player eager to prove his worth.

In all seriousness, I don't see him as being any worse than O'Grady or Davies and, if anything, he would probably cost less.

Plus, people keep saying they want hungry players who will run through brick walls for the club. He sounded like he wanted to prove the pig fans wrong in his Radio Sheffield interview and what better way to do it than bagging a hat full of goals for us? He's a big, strong lad who has hopefully put his troubles behind him and the last time he was in this league showed himself as being a capable goalscorer.
