5 appearances since August isn't many. My post was trying to do exactly what you described remove the baggage and just look at footballing facts.

He's not played since 3rd November. And even then he came on for only 5 mins. And before that 11 mins 30th September.

Here's the link if anyone wants a gander at pitch time.

He will not be match fit.

All defeats as well :D I can't see him being anything other than a sub to bring on for the last 20 mins if we're chasing a game. Would've been perfect to bring on against West Brom the other week when the ball was just coming straight back every time.

Can anyone tell us what madine has done to be hated so much ? Apart from playing for the pigs (like Leon)

Many fans on here have worshipped super Ched for doin what he did ?

If we sign him support him just as much as any other player

Madine openly had a dig at Billy Sharp a couple of seasons back.

And he did the same thing with Ched Evans in the 2011-12 season by making sarcastic comments to the media.

He's always come across as a player who makes no secret of the fact he doesn't like us so I don't know why he'd want to come here.

...and remember their viewpoint is normally a very accurate indicator. As can be proven by the impact of the last Wednesday cast off forward we signed, who didn't in anyway come back to haunt them.

Indeed - and the best comments I picked up from the first 3 pages was Wilder is a decent manager who gets most out of a player.

Apart from a video calling Sharp a c-bomb, he's also been convicted of assault twice and was sentenced to 18 months for the second one.

Before we get into the "he's done his time" point, sure, he has - but it doesn't mean we all have to be happy about him signing for our club.

Madine's trial had heard he punched Mr Beresford, a Sheffield Wednesday fan, knocking him unconscious and breaking his nose.

Mr Beresford said Madine, who joined the Owls from Carlisle United and is originally from Gateshead, had been staring at him in the bar and, when he had asked why, the player lashed out.

The victim had told the jury: "He was one of my favourite players, someone I looked up to."

The court was told Mr Hall, a Sheffield United fan, was left with a broken jaw and a fractured cheek after Madine asked him who he supported.

Bricklayer Mr Hall, who did not recognise the Wednesday striker, replied "United", and moments later he was punched in the eye.

He suffered a broken jaw and his cheek was fractured in five places.

I agree re the option and snootyfenooty makes a point on page four about being an insurance policy for McG or Sharp.

My post with the facts wasn't to say we shouldn't sign him but just looking at another view rather than the "baggage". Lets be fair he'll take a month probably to get up to speed so by 4th March (lets say) he'll be about ready to score a hatrick somewhere......

I thought moreso to do with the altercation/assault on who i assumed was a blade .

Anyway, let's not bicker bart whooo hates whooo.

Just wanted to offer my view as a Wednesday fan.

No point going on about his off the field antics as it's well documented.

As a player I really rated him when he was with us. I thought that he was more than a target man and was a decent finisher. I think he'd do well for you to be honest.

Anyway, happy new year and good luck for the rest of the season lads and lasses.

Wilder has never said we needed pace up front ,that came from people on here. We have Washington but Sharp and McGoldrick are our biggest threats and they don't rely on pace ,it not conducive to the way we play.

How is Madine conducive to the way we play?

From the BBC's report of his GBH conviction back in 2013:

The court was told Mr Hall, a Sheffield United fan, was left with a broken jaw and a fractured cheek after Madine asked him who he supported.

Bricklayer Mr Hall, who did not recognise the Wednesday striker, replied "United", and moments later he was punched in the eye.

It’s Baffling.

If he scores a dozen goals and wins us promotion it will be considered a master stroke..

If however it goes the other way and we flop this is going to be the decision every one points to as where it started to go wrong. (Whether that’s fair or not)

Huge huge risk taken by Wilder here, could seriously tarnish the esteem he’s held in amongst Blades fans.

Calling Billy a fat little pig (and by association, all Unitedites pigs). Slotting a Unitedite for simply being a unitedite.

Oh being an all round cretin.

And great whataboutery. Had Ched done what he did before joining the Blades, I wouldn't want him anywhere near the lane either....

Never make a judgement based on press reports.
Over the years I’ve had inside knowledge on similar incidents and the press reports have been incredibly mis leading and inaccurate.
Although as they say “there’s no smoke without fire” and trouble did seem to follow Madine around.

Strangely Wilder talks about pace a lot when signing players, especially when you look back at the deadline day two years ago with Donaldson, Cole and Sinclair. Much talk about having pace to get in behind.

Punching the initial CD on the board with a marker pen Wilder says, "He'll give us pace in behind.

Donaldson becomes United's tenth recruit of the summer window.

Boss Chris Wilder said: "We have watched Clayton a lot, most recently for Birmingham at Burton, and it is clear that he will be a useful addition for us. "He offers additional pace and power at the top end of the pitch and his Championship experience will be of value."

He must come on here then
