We were 2 up fair and square.Don't think I will ever get over that game

Yeah that's the biggest kick in the balls of allWe were 2 up fair and square.
Then VAR makes a guest appearance for a championship game. Bitter? Me? Nah!
That shit-stirring Mackem magic (no offenceJust fuck off ,...who brought this back up again and why. ?
I think it's likely we will need new owners again before we have a chance of going up, never mind establishing ourselvesI'm bitter we lost the game still but not bitter at all seeing Sunderland do well. We just aren't set up to have the summer they had and would have been a disgrace to the league. We might have even spent as much as them but, as we've seen, this club isn't in a position off the pitch to deliver consistent Premier League football. We will likely need new owners again before we can even think about establishing ourselves
Sunderland this summer turned themselves from a championship club into a PL club both behind the scenes and on the pitch. We wouldn't have done that. We would have muddled through as usual and signed 5 or 6 players that 'might' have been good enough but most probably wouldn't have been.I think it's likely we will need new owners again before we have a chance of going up, never mind establishing ourselves
Better for us as fans maybe. Not better for our new owners unless they are happy funding £xm in losses every year.Sunderland this summer turned themselves from a championship club into a PL club both behind the scenes and on the pitch. Until our mentality changes from top to bottom we are better off being a championship team and not getting battered earlier single week

It's their money and they can chuck it away to their hearts content , of which they have shown they are admirably capable.Better for us as fans maybe. Not better for our new owners unless they are happy funding £xm in losses every year.
I’ll always have a fondness for Sunderland…If they manage to stay up at the expense of the scabby ones.I'm actually glad to see Sunderland doing well, this season we desperately need to see a break in the cycle of newly promoted teams being relegated. The longer that continues the more of a private members club the premier League becomes. It also comes with the added bonus of potentially seeing Forest relegated, which would be lovely.
It followed the pattern of all the bigger games, against those near the top of the league, that we needed to win.Don't think I will ever get over that game

Well we each have our own way of interpreting things based on our outlook on life and past experiencesIt followed the pattern of all the bigger games, against those near the top of the league, that we needed to win.
When the pressure came on, we couldn't cope time and again.
We got what we deserved. Sunderland wanted it more, were fitter and drove to the end.
It was hugely predictable and the right team and club won.
I'm jealous of how Sunderland are doing because obviously we could have been in the PL but I don't think we'd have done anywhere near as well as you are. You've had big backing which helps but spent very well. Your manager is very good and it won't be long before he gets linked with more established clubs but I'd hope for Sunderland that he shows some loyalty.
I wish Sunderland all the best but at the same time I found the general preference to Wednesday on your forum somewhat off putting to say the least! Wednesday are now getting all this sympathy from everyone it seems and whilst I get that we haven't forgotten how arrogant and entitled they are from previous years, but thankfully not recently.
It's just incredible how we survived 4 or 5 seasons in the top flight in the early 70s and early 90s.Even under Harris & Bassett we never had the ‘Boardroom’ with deep enough pockets to fully establish ourselves in the top flight & put a lasting infrastructure in place. Key players were sold under the Managers noses - notably of course Brian Deane (who did not want to leave) = net result Relegation.
My old Dad ( god rest his soul) …. prepared me well for a life following the Blades……’It’s the hope that kills you’!
After the racial abuse one of our players got last season and a lot of their supporters having a go at our player and shouting unsavoury things during our games, we played 3 times because of a cup draw all close together, it changed the way they are seen.I wish Sunderland all the best but at the same time I found the general preference to Wednesday on your forum somewhat off putting to say the least! You must be talking about another fan base! Because the wendies are the most arrogant, ill informed, hateful, deluded fans that football has ever seen. Feel sorry for them, not one bit....................hope they disappear for good! After the racial abuse one of our players got last season and a lot of their supporters having a go at our player and shouting unsavoury things during our games, we played 3 times because of a cup draw all close together, it changed the way they are seen.
But now what is happening at their club has got them sympathy even from us. We know what it is like to have an owner that rips your club apart. Now they've gone into administration they will be getting relegated and have no team. People right through the club will be losing their livelihoods. There's a very good chance they will end up in League 2 but as long as they can keep going everything will be OK in the end. It's the supporters which will suffer for years.
Absolutely! Can you imagine if we had held out at Wembley and managed to get promotion. Would we have signed over £100 million worth of talent to attempt to survive? Not a chance!Sunderland this summer turned themselves from a championship club into a PL club both behind the scenes and on the pitch. We wouldn't have done that. Great post & also what my old Dad said as he also said it was a repeat of when WW2 broke out and we had a great team with Hagan - and were one of the favourites for 39/40 season - but then missed out on seeing that good team develop. Our club history is just littered with ‘wrong place / wrong time’ moments. We are due a massive bucket load of good fortune one day!Absolutely zero hard feelings towards Sunderland, benefitted from a wank system out of their control in VAR disallowing Burrows' goal, and like people above have said, there's no chance we'd have spent as much or as wisely as they have.
But that game I think broke my love for United and football a little bit, along with everything that's happened since covid, best chance we've ever had at establishing ourselves taken away by a bloody virus! Really thought the signing of Sander Berge was a real turning point and a sign of things to come, oh how wrong I was!
And on the evidence on the pitch.Well we each have our own way of interpreting things based on our outlook on life and past experiences
Well you certainly wanted toAnd on the evidence on the pitch.
It was all there, if you wanted to see it.
