This Saturday, will be our development squad I think.

Is anyone off here going?

I'll be there, will be the closest SUFC game I'm ever likely to see.

If anyone wants a few real ale pub tips, or to meet up for a pint just let us know.

I`m going,

Its the futures who are travelling to Glossop.

Friday 15th 13:00 U21s v Sunderland

Sat 16th 10:30 U18s v Chesterfield

3 Blades games in 26 hours, great stuff.

Anyone off to Grimsby Borough tonight?(futures)

I'm off to Borough tonight, with the little un's, been a few times before. We'll be over at Glossop on Saturday as well. :)

And the smallest town to ever host top flight football
Used to be owned by Samuel Hill-Wood, who was subsequently the Arsenal chairman.

Although the Peak District National Park hadn't been invented at the time I suspect Glossop are the only club within its boundaries to have played league football.

He did indeed, think it was his Grandson Peter who then became Arsenal chairman too - because when Glossop got to a Wembley final some years ago he arranged for the Glossop squad to use Arsenal's training facilities.

If anyone is looking for a decent pre-match pint then the Oakwood on the main high street and the Friendshipp Inn (just off the High Street near the Aldi) are decent watering holes, decent ale and food (in the Friendship). Both only a 5 minute stroll to the ground, and street parking easy to find.

Might go if the weather's OK, not too far from where I'm at

You know what. I think I might actually go. Any decent pubs?

They were the smallest town ever to have a league club until Rushden & Diamonds and Fleetwood tipped up.
ah but which town? as Rushden & Diamonds was a merger of Rushden Town and Irthlingborough Diamonds and the Nene Park ground was in Irthlingborough (Pop. 8,535 2011 census) rather than Rushden (Pop. 29,272 2011 census) should we add them together? Fleetwood was (Pop. 25,939 2011 census) compared to Glossop (Pop. 33,020 2011 census).

I was looking at these, and unless Google is throwing me a curve ball, one's going the complete wrong way from the station, and they're both Robinson's pubs, ergo shit beer? Probably end up going to the one on the corner right by the station unless my research is flawed

No, from glossop station you'd have to walk past these to get to the ground.

The friendship is a robinsons yeah.

The big pub on the corner near the station does a job, not a very good one, bit standard.

Still a family owned independent brewery isn't it?
