Credit where credits due. Hull often play decent rock tunes pre match. Are you reading this Garyoke?

Bit of a sad response .
As said I don't look for trouble and neither do the hull city lads and if you wobble your head it wasn't the admiral that the Leeds lads on play off day that surrounded me if was on Princess quays
I'm nearly there now and looking forward to a good 5 days in good company especially saturday night .
We went to Cassiel, opposite King Billy in Cottingham on Saturday night.

Ten tapas to share between four of us, together with a total of six drinks, came to a very reasonable £120.

Thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone.

Few decent pints in Ye Olde White Hart & Sailmakers tonight. Parkers near the ground no real ale but did a job as per. Hull fans we spoke to didn’t fancy their chances and rightly so.

Maintaining my 100% record there tonight. Getting mauled by United.
We ate at the Lion and Key before moving on the The old White Harte before the game on Friday.

We also learnt that there's two White Harts in Hull as ourselves and our mates started out in different ones 🤣

Was a good night all round.

Lively place at night is hull as all the little villages and towns come into hull.
Lion and tap is decent but please Try the minerva next time in the marina area.
I'm out all-day today doing the normal places but going further east near craven park the rugby ground and p&0 ferries .
The nightlife here is cracking around east Street but aged 56 I don't do nightclubs or packed to the rafters bars .

Ye old white heart and the George were where beautiful south drank in the city centre.
I watched tyson fury get battered by the Ukrainian in the George it was mental that night .
If you were in the sailmakers the landlord owns the black boy next door aswell but behind their is the other wetherspoons which was mental when Newcastle brought 6000 here pre season .

I'd suggest if you ever go in the hull cheese especially on a Friday or Saturday night you wear a crash helmet.
It's beyond rough , it's like the old cannon in sheffield.
The bouncers rules are anything goes as they don't care and almost everytime I've been in I've seen serious shit

The black boy pub is nearly opposite here. Those who say the name is racist. This is the house william willborforce lived in , its a museum now kept exactly as he left it on passing away. I've been in 3 times now it fascinates me the history.
He was the one who lead the banning of slavery.

Just out of interest, how did Paul Heaton become a Blade? Was his family Blades?

Just out of interest, how did Paul Heaton become a Blade? Was his family Blades?
Moved to sheffield from the wirral and his brother became wddnesday so he took supporting the blades and became part of all the lads .
The grafton pub has a little mention of him supporting the blades.
He moved down south due to dad's career but hated it and came north to hull

Was out in hull allday yesterday and night and same today and tomorrow.
Did the Paul heaton tour visiting his old house and local pub where the housemartins drank as Paul lived on grafton Street near the grafton pub. Also the adelphi club which was rammed and where housemartins, beautiful south , oasis, stone roses Paul weller and many more started. £5 to get in but worth it as plenty real ales on and cracking music
Rough old area is the Newlands suburb .
Neither Beautiful South nor Weller played the Adelphi - both far too ‘big’given their previous incarnations but you’re correct about Oasis (sold out afore they’d released a record) Stone Roses promoting Sally Cinnamon to about 30 folk - (cantankerous twats - arrived late & insisted on a sound check - - quickly realised their chippy Manc attitude wasn’t going to wash,
Among others I saw (remember):-Happy Mondays, Pulp , Manics, LA’s (& Cast) , Radiohead, My Bloody Valentine, Carter USM, Half Man Half Biscuit, Inspiral Carpets She’d Seven, PJ Harvey, Supergrass (Bluetones supporting) Skunk Anansie, Pavement, Super Furry Animals, Green Day, Snow Patrol (early ‘indie rock’ phase) Teenage Fanclub Travis,McClusky (best gig I’ve EVER attended) The Fall (probably worst gig I’ve ever attended - whilst it lasted) & a multitude of ‘former greats’ Mothers of Invention (without Frank) , (a bloke out of) Can, Groundhogs, Bill Nelson

Paul (Jacko) the owner is in a pretty bad way now (uses a wheelchair) & his constant companion Yosser (Spaniel) no longer with us
Adelphi was, still is, the best toilet in the world

My memory is a little hazy but was the Adelphi on De Grey St? I used to live on that street briefly a long time ago. Seem to recall the bouncer being a Blade.

Correct on both counts - wouldn’t really call him a ‘bouncer’ - it wasn’t that sort of ‘vibe’ - no doubt some folk would call it & the clientele ‘woke’ today - a superb community (in both senses of the word) venue
The premises were nothing more than a (3 bed) terraced house that had been converted - fuck knows how the folk next door got any sleep !

Better than the Philharmonic in Liverpool?
Not sure I understand the reference . If we’re talking about the Royal Philharmonic they’re very different venues - Adelphi might hold 200 folk at a (tight) squeeze & you’d be hard pressed to distinguish between the actual toilets & the club / dance floor/ bar itself !
I’m convinced I survived Covid because my immune system was developed / enhanced through regular attendance at the Adelphi.

No, he's on about the Philharmonic Dining Rooms pub. Has Grade 1 listed toilets. And they really are worth a look, as is the pub itself. Always visit when going to Liverpool, Everton or Tranmere. Decent ales too.

It's definitely back up again, I drove past it on my way into work, for the final time, this morning.
I’ve walked past it about three days ago and didn’t notice. It either says something about my eyesight, or my concentration. I still think Grbic will come good 😉.

I hope the last day at work is due to retirement mate. UTB

Redundancy unfortunately.

Aye
I’ve done some ‘research’ - very palatial- I can understand why you & BornOnShorehamStreet are enamoured by that / them
Coincidentally ‘ull has some impressive (public) ‘baroque’ lavatories- 1 of which had goldfish in transparent cisterns above the urinals ?!?!?!
Similarly, albeit of a lesser sophistication there was (is ?) a Smeltic supporting alehouse in Glasgow that had transparent urinals with videos of players from the teamformerlyknownasRangers behind - not sure if it encouraged further / additional urination, (particularly after a sesh on the Buckie) but for folk of a puerile disposition (such as myself) I guess it would be appealing.
May also encourage the less discerning punters to visit the facilities rather than ‘release’ where sat / stood 😳
