I'm not going to argue that he's not nesh (because he is) but there's some significant stuff going on in Davies's personal life which impacted his availability last season.
He seems to be a very nice chap and one has to sympathise with his domestic problems ... But ...
Dem Blades are skint so looking at VFM.
We have terrible injury problems with Bogle , Brewster & McB.
And Sharp & Bash have been getting injuries as they get older.
We can't afford to take on more players with potential problems.
B Davies is contracted to Liverpool.
After taking a £10m duffer off Eddie Howe + a £23m guy off Klopp who was not ready for the first team , why on earth do we want to help Klopp out again ?
Plus , he is nesh and doesn't have the physical attributes so lacking in our central defence.
Signing B Davies would be case of throwing good money after bad , if you look at the VFM he actually provided in return for his loan fee & wages.
Dem Blades are not a charity , despite Wilder dishing out contracts that made us look like one.

His contract is with Liverpool
And Hecky has spoken to him, as reported, about his future.
Davis is a proven defender at this level, I mean, even Liverpool bought him!
So, he is still a decent option, and probably one we can afford.

No idea how accurate it is but this site has Davies on £60k a week and contracted until 2026 😮

We’d never match those wages and he’d be mad to give that contract up. Maybe another loan?

..... and one of the best I've seen in the Sheffield derby when he was a one man brick wall

Would be good in middle of a back 3
One if those performances was less than a month ago, the other was 4 seasons back.

He's absolute garbage now.

Plus the way he went in on Osula makes me think he's a bit of a prick too.

Apart from that, count me in 🤣

It would be bizarre for a cb to suddenly turn garbage at an age they're typically in their prime

People might scoff at such suggestions but on frees they offer physicality, experience and cover 2 positions in the back 3

We can't spend fees on every signing

He'll probably go to Reading, but Tom Ince as back up to Ndiaye?

Interesting one, when he was at Brentford he seemed to be heading for big things, then his move to his favourite club West Brom didn't seem to work out, his loan move to Stoke doesn't seem to have pulled up many trees but saying that he has had injuries and according to an article I've just read stats wise he was one of Stoke's more creative players. At 30 that's the same age as when we signed McGoldrick and Duffy and Keith Gillespie and Neil Shipperley were around the same age from not that long ago, he could well be an absolute steal on a free, on the other hand he could just be on his way downhill. We do need an attacking mid if Berge goes in particular, I'd personally sign someone younger from League One like Twine but he's not gonna be in our price range you wouldn't think.
It's weird. He just ambles around and then moves when the ball is at his feet. Then makes little effort to win it back.

The only time I've seen him give a shit is when he got a nasty kick.

I assume he's out of our salary range given he's had a couple of spells in the top flight. Bit of a waste of space by accounts. Maybe his dad will make him give a shit but I doubt it at that age.

Isn’t Toffolo out of contract this year? Ship Lowe and Stevens out and get him in

Think so, but would be a bit of a mercenary move to sign for a relative rival in same division (after having your career kickstarted by the club/manager).

If we did sign Toffolo or another LWB we'll have four LWB, three is, as expected, Lowe leaves. Unless we're planning to get rid of another on loan or there's interest we don't know of in Stephens or RND then I can't see us signing a LWB. We've been linked with the Scottish lad though of course at Hibs.

Nyambe is on a free at Blackburn. There's so many interesting options we must be knee deep in

The only thing more bizarre than people wanting to get anyone who's ever played for us back is people wanting to get anyone who's ever played for the Pigs in

What a ridiculous statement. We've had some crackers over the years that previously played for The Unclean and all left with far more fondness for us than them.

Just off the top of head I can think of Geary, Quinn, Bromby, and Clarke but I'm sure there's a few more. Hell I even rated Madine when he was here. Especially when he shushed the crowd outside The Lane when the coaches came back and launched into a rendition of Mind The Gap.

Speaking of Madine, and a bit off topic, but looking back to when we got promoted to The Prem we should 100% of signed him on a free and saved the £18m we paid for McBurnie. I've no doubt Madine would have been just as effective.

Thing you've got to ask yourself about Cooper is why has he played 200+ Championship games and had zero interest from any Premier League clubs. You would think that if he was a well rounded centre half that someone like a Burnley etc would have been in for him. Heck, see who they replace Tarkowski with. He's got one very good asset, true, but if his overall game makes him a liability at a higher level then that is a fucking huge negative for a team that is in the playoff picture

Great post. I think people's opinion of him comes form the fact he's a genuine left footed CB and there aren't many of those around plus the fact he always seems to score against us.

Like you say if he was any good there's no way he wouldn't have secured a Prem move by now. Hell even Dan Burn managed it and I see Cooper as just a poorer version of him.

Apparently Utd had a close look at him and concluded he wasn't good enough in possession and therefore wouldn't fit the 'Wilderball' style of play.

Pity as he'd very effective with his head - as shown whenever he gets anywhere near Utd's goal!

Jed Wallace will be the one that everyone is after. Joe Rothwell would also make a great addition. Andy King would also be a good addition on a one year contract. He'd certainly offer the back three better defensive cover than Norwood. At 33 he won't be commanding huge wages anymore.

The list of free agents has some very experienced players on it, but the majority are close to or over 30.

Possible CCB if Egan leaves then maybe?

Whats happening with Sean Morrision

I wanted us to sign him so we can stick him in the box and lump it in there

I notice Cyrus Christie is still available if we are in the market for cover at right back.

Although if Bogle is ahead of schedule is there much point chasing another right back?

'Cover for Baldock' would be stupidly wasteful when we could still do with strengthening 3 other positions ideally with starters

Eli Dasa has been suggested for cover for Baldock. (72)
I bet the person that wrote that has never even heard of him until he fired up Transfermarkt!

It's one thing saying "these lads come up on Transfermarkt, any one heard of them?"

It's quite another listing him out, adding a few lines from Wikipedia and giving the idea you legitimately know who the fuck he is!

The guy had two lengthy spells in Israel of which most people will not have a clue about. Can you even watch Israeli domestic football? Does anyone not from Israel?

He's then played for Vitesse in a small league and played a handful of matches in lesser of the two wooden spoon European trophies. And that was only after they had to win two qualification matches. One vs Dundalk by one goal against those League of Ireland Galacticos and the other against, surprisingly Vincent's Anderlecht.

Now I don't mind those pot smoking Germans underneath Josef Frtitzl's floorboards but apparently they have him worth €2m Euros, so he must be good.

Sign me up! I'm only surprised they didn't mention Serge Aurier!
