I bet the person that wrote that has never even heard of him until he fired up Transfermarkt!

It's one thing saying "these lads come up on Transfermarkt, any one heard of them?"

It's quite another listing him out, adding a few lines from Wikipedia and giving the idea you legitimately know who the fuck he is!

The guy had two lengthy spells in Israel of which most people will not have a clue about. Can you even watch Israeli domestic football? Does anyone not from Israel?

He's then played for Vitesse in a small league and played a handful of matches in lesser of the two wooden spoon European trophies. And that was only after they had to win two qualification matches. One vs Dundalk by one goal against those League of Ireland Galacticos and the other against, surprisingly Vincent's Anderlecht.

Now I don't mind those pot smoking Germans underneath Josef Frtitzl's floorboards but apparently they have him worth €2m Euros, so he must be good.

Sign me up! I'm only surprised they didn't mention Serge Aurier!
Reyt team Israel, they all wear a black patch over their left eye's.

2 CM I'm guessing are two. LWB and ST possibly too.
2 CMs when we have Doyle, Berge on top of Fleck/Norwood is nonsense. There’s also Arblaster and Coulibaly who’ll need some minutes so 2 CMs is daft
LWB - we have 3 on the books and RND is getting better the more he plays.
Striker - There’s one spot to vie for and were going to block Brewster and Jebbo from getting time and ruining their resale value. We’ve also got Sharp as a more than able support.

I still can’t see a sensible 3 first teamers, especially once the Man City lads are ready to play.

Maybe 3 if Berge leaves - CM, LWB and CF

2 if he doesn't - LWB and CF. But we'd be gambling on him performing in CM

Not likely we do this, granted. But we have a superb chance this season and need to ruthlessly seize it

No one at LWB is good enough to start

We could do with a line leading CF who can start. I don't fully trust any of the current strikers. Although tbh short of Davis I don't see many options

Doyle and Couilbaly haven't kicked a ball and Berge performs better further forward. Arblaster won't be played. Osborn, Fleck and Norwood aren't good enough to all play.

Doyle plays when fit.
Coulibaly and certainly Arblaster will get games from the bench else there’s no point them being here.
Berge will slot into a deeper role and Fleck and Norwood will support from the bench, probably occasionally starting when needed.
There’s no room or budget for 2 more first team starters.

The CM position is/will be an issue this season.

Left or right?
We’re not a bankrolled club so anyone with the expectation that we can just bring people in for any area which isn’t currently exceptional needs to think again. We’re solid enough, certainly at LWB and in CM for our level and the manager has decided he wants to spend his budget in ACM. You also can’t block the progression of our youth players if your model is to bring them through. Any LWB while we still have Stevens and Lowe blocks RND, and centre mid on top of Norwood and Fleck blocks Arblaster and Coulibaly.

Norwood and Fleck together were once good 3 years ago, might get away with playing one if the other CM is any quality. Aka can tackle, assist and score.

Which tells me we want to take the game to the opposition. GET YER BALLS OUT LADS

Billy Sharp is better.

Agree. Between them we'd be guaranteed goals and we could rotate them to keep them fresh.

I don't like the idea of relying on Sharp this season but I don't trust our other options for various reasons that aren't necessarily the players fault (inexperience / fitness etc.).

You have to take that risk at some point with them else you may as well cash in on them now. Brewster in particular needs games.
If we do dabble in the loan market for a forward I reckon it’s more likely to be in January once Brewster/McBurnie are fully confirmed as busted flushes. Personally I think they’ll both be fine this season.

Lewis Grabban is still such a good pick up at this level for a team competing at the higher end and that don't need to play him every week.
Absolutely!

Maybe the board aren't happy to green light any Strikers with 40m sat on the bench (not doing much) as well as Billy and Jebbo

Pickings already starting to become pretty slim down this avenue:

Keepers - Smithies looks like he’s going to sit on the bench at Leaicester. So anyone not picking up Foster is left with Nyland or Westwood 🤮

Right backs - ignoring left-field suggestions you’re left with Cyrus Christie as your best bet followed by ex-Palace and ‘Pool man Kelly and Andre Wisdom. You’d expect Aurier and Sidibe to get a a gig at some top flight team somewhere.

Left backs - you’re looking on upping the average age for Erik Pieters or Neil Taylor so slim indeed.

Centre backs - once more bordering on the pensionable to unthinkable - 36 year old Cahill, Zanka and Hector (just kidding 🤮). Naby Sarr and Johan Barbet tick the ‘do a job’ box without making you clamour for their arrival. Now we do sign foreigners there are some sexy names like Jason Denayer, Zagadou from Dortmund and John Anthony Brooks from Wolfsburg but you just can’t see Stoke(a), Tuesday night being on their bucket list.

Defensive Mid - Florian Grillitsch still sits there, waiting for someone like Brighton or Leicester to snap him up. Former Palace man Kouyaté has already fallen under the watchful gaze of Forest’s if it breathes, sign it recruitment team. Otherwise not much to see in this position.

Centre Mid - not much in terms of youthful and fit options. A Portuguese called Xeka of whom I have no knowledge. Then you have former Cardiff man Leandro Bacuna and then the no doubt hefty wages and potential injuries of Fabian Delph. Not much to see here. So now Coulibaly and Osborn are crocked be careful what we wish for if there is interest in John/Jimmy Fleck.

Attacking mid - probably where we might have most interest if the sale we don't want goes through. Juan Mata you would expect to join a top division team somewhere. Tom Rogic and the Dutch guy with a decent height and scoring record, Pelle Van Amersfoort are probably the best picks and Rogic seems the easiest fit. I'm also not clear how difficult the Polish domestic league is regards to PVA. There's an Israeli called Dia Saba who has played exclusively in the Middle East, last in UAE. I just don't see us going down that route.

Wingers - if we are to play 3-4-3 these could be an option should Berge move. Junuzaj is the standout option but you can see him ending up at Everton or even Fulham who lost a few wide players recently. Then you've got a few names from the past, all in decline - Cheryshev (ex-Barca), Aaron Lennon, Christian Atsu (did he ever come off anywhere?), Callum McManaman, Anthony Pilkington Sammi Ameobi and arch nemesis Robert Snodgrass! I wouldn't say any inspire.

Strikers - when Lys Mousset is 3rd on the list you know pickings are slim. Italian international Belotti will hit a top league team somewhere and then you have Vydra, released by Burnley and Grabban. I suspect once they've cleared the decks of expensive forwards he could end up somewhere like Watford. He did score 13 last year despite not finishing the season. With McBurnie coming back and Sharp, Brewster, Jebbison, N'Diaye, not to mention Khadra, I just don't see us looking here at all.

So my conclusion is that there is not so much value left in the free agent market for this term. The odd one or two still but most of the good ones have gone.

The next logical thing to look at is when the Premier League squads get announced and one or two get told "it's not you, it's us".

How long will Basham, Clark and Robinson be out?

Marius Lode has just agreed to cancel his contract at Schalke. It's not worked out for him there.

Quick and very composed on the ball. Not the biggest. Couple of caps for Norway. Right sided, but also comfortable as a left sided centre half.

Hecky said Basham is back and Clark is out for just a week. So that means both are probably a month or more away from playing. :)

I reckon we sign that lad.

I like the sound of Pele van Hammerfoot.
