Zagadou would be a shrewd signing although West Ham and Roma have been linked with him. Probably a bit out of our reach.

Sean Morrison has a bad injury. Cruciate ligaments I think. Out until after Christmas.

Zagadou was linked with Inter.

Cahill not bad if fit but he'd have to be an Egan back up.

Mangala's value seems to have plummeted.

There is a guy called Enock Kwateng of Ghanaian descent who can play both right back and centre back. This may sound outlandish as intro until I mention he was with Bordeaux until recently and would have played in the same team as Ahmedhodžić. He's 25, not a bad age to consider potential perm.

There is also Jetro Willems who was at Newcastle. Plays left back, was in Germany last season with Greuther Fürth.

I think people like Aurier and Sidibe are unrealistic.

Edgar Le had a bad injury so people like him I'd dismiss.

Omar Elabdellaoui, a teammate of Berge for the national team has an awful story of late. Pretty much lost his sight when a firework went off in his face. Was declared blind but fought his way back after eleven operations but had to play with special glasses.

Of those available I found Timothée Kolodziejczak a little intriguing. Played for St Etienne who were relegated from the top flight last year so had to restructure. He's 30, he can also play left back. Played 33 times so was a regular. Scored 2, assisted 5. Watched a few clips. Hard to tell but looked useful in what you can tell.

I'd rather have Michael Barrymore than Michael Hector.

I haven't seen Michael Hector in a few years but, if he hasn't gone downhill too much, then he'd surely be a better option than Kyron Gordon.
Gordon is the only cover we have right now at the back.

The same goes for Cahill, Bennett etc., if the deal was sensible then they'd represent a decent stop-gap.

Sheffield United 4 - 0 Fulham was the last time I saw him, I hope to see him paying against us again sometime soon.

Have a look here at the bloke wearing number 3 for them if you want a refresher:

On a free Hector would be a ok squad signing, don't think we are looking though?

There's always a reason why players are on a free transfer when the window is shut

Absolutely. But we'd only be looking to bring them in on temporary terms to protect ourselves in case we get a couple of defensive injuries. We only have Kyron Gordon in reserve at the moment. Someone like Michael Hector is at least relatively competent at this level of football.

Hector is a good shout, the problem we have regarding signing a new player is that the defenders arent out long-term. So soon we'll have Clark/ Lowe/ Stevens back & it sounds like Bogle is progressing well - Robinson is probably the only longer term injury. I doubt we have the spare cash for wages too.

I would have thought with Berge not leaving and Lankshear being the only departure on a fee, the budget is being stretched so no incomings will be possible.

I'd be surprised if any of the guys listed would accept contracts less that a year - then there's signing-on fees, their not inconsiderate salaries, bonuses etc. There's no such think as a cheap signing at this level.

Michael Hector?? A decent stopper but not comfortable in possession. I'd be amazed if PH sees his as a viable option as I think he'd stick out like a sore thumb hoofing it into the South Stand whenever he wins the ball.

No fit LB's - Danny Rose anyone?
I thought that too just now. I would guess it'll depend on how long the likes of Osborn and Enda are out though as Rose would take a few weeks to get up to speed anyway and then you've probably got Osborn and Stevens at or near coming back.

Plus Rose is a dickhead.
