I’ve been on Viewpoints, BladesUnited and here as “Sothall Blade” since Steve Bruce was the manager (circa 1998).
In the days when you could post under different aliases I was also at various times Tangent Blade, Nostalgia Blade, Ted Bovis, Bobby McFerrin and Raymondo (Bert's Fillipino Houseboy).
Had a few heated debates but never been warned or banned yet.

He's on Bladesreunited. He was a top poster, but very........optimistic.

Not so much optimistic as fucking mental.

Only time I've lost my sense of humour and have to "sabbatical" was when he was selling the viewpoint that losing, at home, to the pigs was a good thing because there was too much pressure, not having let them do it for over 40 years.

I was Pedro Verde on Viewpoints and then Dangerous Brian on BU but now I'm just plain old Metty

The only times I've been told off were on BU. Once I was temporarily banned for making a bawdy reference to oral sex, the second time I was banned for good for giving Highbury_Blade my login details.

Helped run the old chat room for the SUISA and BU sites back when ""Webbo" was the master. Helped organise the first "live-ish" commentary relay of BBC Radio Sheffield using an old ACER 486 PC in a corridor down at Westbourne Road Studio's - think we got up 8 "listeners" at one time!. We then had a live chat session with Blackwell when he was Warnocks assistant - Webbo (Step) asked the questions and I acted as policeman - silencing the unpleasant comments!
I find the current united web site useless, fan unfriendly and as all FL clubs are signed up has little information. For goodness sake even the rubbish Sheffield Star site has more up to date news than the official site!

Any way long may S24SU live, it's a real voice for real supporters and it's about time clubs realised where the life blood lies.

BTW the old chat room still runs on match day but we're down to only 3 or 4 visitors now!

Some amazing memories here. Bladesmad was the first I signed up to under the alias I use on here (I was listening to a Boards Of Canada song called Roygbiv as I was joining up) but I do recall the old Viewpoints forum. Didn't they publish some of the quotes taken from that forum in the official programmes at one point?
I always wondered this as well. I figured it was more plausible than the idea that you were just really into rainbows.

My experiences of Geogaddi at night even when sober vary from solid sleep to lucid dreams to insomnia. I think I'm more of a Campfire Headphase kind of person anyway.

Also true about viewpoints in the programme I think. For a kid who was very much into discovering the internet (don't read : porn) as it grew I'm suprised I didn't use it more. Might have a look in some old programmes and see.

Have always been "Large Mendonca" on Viewpoints, SUISA, BladesUnited and here, but don't post too much and sit on the fence quite often on most stuff.

Ah, the history of United and the fans on the internet. Happy days.
I too have been around since the early days. first joining the Blades List listserv that was actually run from Sheffield Uni, not Hallam as has been stated, by an Admin there called Dave......

Wow the memories... I've been on contributing or just lurking/reading since the listserv days....

Dave was known as Spook from what I remember - he was involved in the Cart & Horses, high green sunday league side too (remember playing against them at least 15 years ago...) ... or was it coach & horses, Chapeltown... ah, the passage of time...

Other memories and contributions to those early listserv days:

I paid for the streamers at the Palace play-off final... (well the bulk of the cost anyway) but never got my hands on any of them because of not getting onto the old Wembley way in time to meet up... (there were women involved.. as there frequently would be when problems were to arise in the future). Remember someone saying there were threats of arrests because stewards thought the guys were selling them when just handing them out.

Getting involved somehow in the first "internet blades" T-shirts ordered, and bumping into a couple wearing the first ones i saw anyone else wearing as i was entering John Street on the following match-day after i got mine.....

trying to get the first "online 5-a-side" team going, turning up for an arranged meet-up in the Newton Chambers (was it still the Roebuck then?) one sunday lunchtime, and nobody turned up!

Canada based old couple advising (usefully) on Prostate issues as well Blades memories.....

listserv.... sometimes the modern t'interweb is just too fancy....

plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose

I've been a dedicated lurker since SUISA viewpoints. I don't often chime in but I have been reading Blades boards avidly (just about every day) for donkey's years. I'll bet there are lots like me. It's probably like an iceberg - 10 per cent is visible (regular posters) and 90 per cent under the surface (lurkers).
This is definitely the best incarnation of the chat sites. Works so well it purrs like a Rolls-Royce. And not too many idiots; just enough to keep it interesting. I'm much better informed about the mighty Blades now - living in Australia - than I ever was in Sheffield or London, and it's mostly due to this board. Well done and thanks to the webmeisters.

Was this "webbo" character called.. actually, probably better not say his name... him who worked for (owned, I guess) Windmill (... something ?? media ??? webmedia??? whatever??), a web design company, used to be based in the Workstation down near the station, eventually moved into the BL offices?

I remember him from the IRC room and forum (I honestly don't remember my login, I tend to use different username/password combo on every site), I'm just trying to put a face to the name.

Name began with S - that's the guy.

I still or did until today read Bladesmad. Its now impossible to read on a phone. You just get a full page add for Asda.
My login for them stopped working ages ago, and I wasn't prepared to try again as there's so many hoops to jump through before you can actually re register.
This site is great, especially the shout box on match days.
Keep up the good work

Viewpoints, BU, Unitedite, Barrel of Money and S24SU.

What a long strange trip it's been.

The only real lesson? I've never met a Blade I couldn't like.

Frequented all those sites, Herr Lipp was my first pseudonym, then Laughing Spam Fritter which then shortened to LSF, much easier :)

Wow, what a letdown. Laughing Spam Fritter?????

I thought you'd named yourself after Kasabian's LSF (Lost Souls Forever). Your "cool points" have just dropped through the floor!.

LoL!
The Fritter bloke was a bit of a dullard thug in the 70's series 'Budgie', just loved the name :)
Kasabian - A bit meh with me. More a Neil Young bloke :)

Would occasionally post on suisa, viewpoints and bladesunited. Also took part in a few of the match sponsorship days we had. Stopped reading forums after there demise till I came across s24su on twitter and started reading the forum around a year ago.

Just viewpoints and here ,never been interested in any others. Always been Sitwell or Shitwell to some ,purely because a panic moment when asked for an alias. I looked out of the window at work and saw Sitwell Place roadsign on the wall. Met some great people on both sites and nothing but admiration for the Mods on both.
