I have been on BU and on this site for about 12 years now. I must hold the record for the length of time served without any kind of ban, which just shows what a well adjusted chap I am. Or that people are scared I will sue them.

Highlight of my time is, of course, that kind anonymous person outing me on BU. I would be curious to know who that was. I bear him no ill will anymore. If he is around I wonder if he has the guts to fess up.

Afraid I too have a clean licence :) . No ban that I can remember, no infraction (to date). A couple of warnings off Webbo back in the old days but that was about it. :)

Only just found this thread!.. I was on suisa VP and BU in various different guises... although I never posted anything prolific or even worth remembering. This is something i strive to continue to do on a daily basis on S24SU.

Must say I did like the threads on unitedite.

The banter between you, BM, SV, raul and BoSS was hilarious at times.

Is was good, wasn't it?

I'm still BoSS but the field name when S2 last changed servers was too short for the full monicker, hence BornOnShoreham.

Maybe I should have used BornOnShore'mSt :D

I didn't post very often but i was KabbaDabbaDoo on the old BU

Yes I remember! I had Kabba on my shirt one year so probably sometimes respected your views regardless of merit!

I used to lurk for years but also posted on BU as (I was young, alright?) Nanananahesabladeandhesa-blade - just to fit in with the ubiquitous XYZBlade theme. But generally posted when completely blottoed around this time of night, after the local had shut, which meant few were really about to respond, so I never got to know anyone on a personal level. This was the late teens/uni period of my life, so I could afford to hang around until 3 or 4 am online before retiring to bed with a whiskey and an old episode of Knightmare or The Crystal Maze on Challenge courtesy of my parents Sky subscription.

Though I never properly knew anyone, I remember: sitters, silent, deadbat, raul, bert, pete, gray, puppet, darren, deadly d'jaffo, beans, dronfieldblade, woodhouse and obviously fucking len. He can still get a rise from me now on BM, which I've lurked on and off since BU disappeared, and posted on only since Weir was appointed (it was that hard to register). I'm sure there was a BM poster called Roger Nilsen's Yellow Pants although I might be confusing that with Paul Roger's Cycling Shorts?

Never knew Dkc = Copes... live and learn! I think Step was done over a bit with the expectations of the old forums, I can't remember exactly but I think the thankless task element just got the better of him. It wasn't really his place to ensure we all kept in touch so the site just closed. To be fair, it was the early days of internet camaraderie but does anybody remembers the original BU football game, vs Crewe, 33 of us turned up and apart from the odd 2s/3s who knew each other and muttered to each other in tongues, it was a rabid infection of shyness across the board? People who had agreed, disagreed, laughed and despaired with each other like they were brothers could barely bring themselves to acknowledge one and other (being terminally shy there was none more guilty of that than me that day). In the end, Colin split us all into three groups of 11 to ensure there would actually be any kind of cohesion at all. I met a couple of people who knew who I was and introduced themselves to me but generally it was a look at the floor affair. If friendships weren't forged strongly enough on the closing of BU, its not really Webbo's fault.
I think my most memorable introduction to an Blades forum member was old Bert himself at Hillsborough, after the soon to be dubbed 'Lion Of Hillsborough' stuck away the winner. He leaned over to me in the queue down the steps, made an in joke and disappeared into the crowd with a chuckle.

I think I'm like many others in that I've read the boards for years but never joined in. Taking that first step and worrying you'll get torn apart by the "regulars" puts many off. I first started posting around the time United closed the "official" forum and went onto BM. Started posting when I was 56 hence the Blade56 (so creative) been a few Blade## wonder if it's their age when first posting, B58?

Going back to OP BM is a broken flush due to adverts, functionality disappearing and viruses. Numbers have dwindled down to a hard core and there have been a few dominant posters some would consider bullies but I found them a good bunch. I still nip over there to read what their thoughts are and to plagiarise Roygov

Quite a few dual post on here and BM but I emigrated and took citizenship on here mainly due to layout, functionality but most of all no adverts...... Oh and I can say words like tits without getting it changed to ****

Didn't play in that game, but played in another one away v The Motley Crewe where kick-off was delayed because the kit lady (Mousey's late Mum) couldn't find the ground. Having ambled around at right back for 80 minutes, I was subbed when we were 2-0 down and "we" won 3-2, despite having Greenwich in goal.

I also played in a game at Abbeydale against the oinkers, when we drew 2-2 and Staffs Blade did all my running for me. Step played too and I introduced myself using my real name and he said it was easier for him to use aliases. As mine was justoutsidestokeblade, it meant that calling for the ball was a drawn out process :)

pup, I think you've misremembered the venue when you had a brief audience with Bert. I'm pretty sure it was away at WBA. I was the one who pointed you out to him and the in joke referred to a one tune banjo. That was the day when one of Bert's suppliers got him tickets for the game and they turmed out to be in the home end. Bert diplomatically resolved the situation by reasoning with one of West Midlands' finest and we transferred under escort to the away stand. The supplier became an ex-supplier first thing Monday morning :)

Ah was it?? Oh well.. blue and white stripe confusion makes me appear less senile. :)

Yep it was a good laugh and good to see most of the members on there moved to this forum.

Been around a long time, started with suisa, then BU, Unditedite and BOM then get fed up for a while and took my time coming on here, read it from the start but only signed up last year.

I was on BU, posted under MillHillBlade, then became BorehamwoodBlade and then became BusheyBlade when I joined here.

Does anyone know if the SMS alert thingies advertised on the old BU link provided above are any good?

Been thinking and still can't remember...remember raul, rodders, BOSS, DKC, spaffmonkey etc
LS26 blade, I remember him.

Webbo on BU was a pain, got a few short term bans for calling him a ginger so and so...used to play with sitters with the silent H as well.

I started reading Viewpoints in about '98 but never posted. Signed up to Blades United as Blade Picker in about 2002 and was an intermittant at best poster, used to enjoy reading but hated the format and was solidly in the clapper clan.

After BU went kaput I signed up to here and Blades Mad and started posting mainly on BM but found it to be a mixture of bad grammar, racism, over the top mysogyny and Len de Goey so I gave it a miss. Went away from forums for a bit but decided to give this place a try last year and it has been brilliant. Lots of the old posters I used to love reading from BU, generally a higher level of intelligence than most forums I have ever been on and decent, fair, sensible admins. Oh and the T Shirts are good too :)

My highlights as a viewer from BU - Trying to decipher a post from Warnock's Box Blade; a user called SUPERJAGS or something similar who created about 100 new topics on BU in about a day and a half; Darren and Silent (both quality contributors) racing to be the first to tell us who scored the third against Gillingham in the third division promotion season; a poster called Duncan Disorderly who was so positive he made Blade Too Long on here look like Curtis; Curtis.

I've been around for far too long, on most of the boards since 2001 when i went all modern and aquired one of those computer jobbies. I've been under various names, originally KGB on Viewpoints if I remember rightly. I go on here and Unitedite but rarely posting if at all but I will admit to being a regular reader od Bladesmad until now. I have had my fill of that site, more idiots than decent posters these days. Mind you, VIP Blades on that Facebook takes some beating. It beggars belief what that lot do at school all day because they sure as hell don't learn English.

Ah, Curtis and Beattie's alloys. That was a classic....

Duncan Disorderly was on here too, but flounced off after a run in with Ollessendro. Not been seen or heard of on here since.

Some amazing memories here. Bladesmad was the first I signed up to under the alias I use on here (I was listening to a Boards Of Canada song called Roygbiv as I was joining up) but I do recall the old Viewpoints forum. Didn't they publish some of the quotes taken from that forum in the official programmes at one point?

I did wonder if it was something BoC related.

I spent many a Sunday morning in my late teens/early 20's waking up to Music has the Right to Children. After a hard chemically enhanced Saturday night it was the perfect tonic! :)

He was brilliant entertainment. Mad with rage while serving chips in Ipswich.

Suprised you didn't answer my third goal against Gillingham question Darren, may allow Silent Blade to nip in :)

Ah thanks for the update. Shame I missed it, I guess he (DD) probably tried arguing why Ched getting sent down and Wednesday beating us to promotion was in the long term a good thing or some such ridiculous notion.

Its the perfect late night to early morning album. Geogaddi on the other hand is too scary to listen to in the dark ;)
