Fookin Booing

I would suspect that by purchasing a ticket, those supporters that booed see themselves as customers of sheffield united. They feel that the service that they received for said payment was below the standard that they feel was acceptable and so they provided direct feedback.

I wish someone would tell them that their ticket says they paid to watch "Sheffield United v. Colchester United".

It doesn't say that they've paid to watch "Sheffield United win".

I think some believe they purchase tickets for the latter rather than the former, and that is where they're going wrong :)

I dare say that some of the people booing have spent more money following the blades then some of you complaining about them.

I doubt this is the case if I'm honest. Most Blades I know who follow them week in week out would not think of booing unless under extreme circumstances (Adrian Heath era anyone?)

It's your part time supporters who I believe are the booers.

dont think booing gets anyone anywhere, ye lets bring the morale down more and make them feel like shit, do people think the players want to loose?

if you do something and get booed you are more likely to be shit again and have low morale than do amazing,

only one game in, everyone is acting we are 10 games in without a win

Some old giffer who sits near me shouted 'get to the by line and cross the fookin ball Hendrie you tosser!':shakehead:

This was Hendrie's FIRST contribution to the game after only 10 or so minutes of his club debut - the round of fooks he got and deadeyes from the fans, players and staff around him made sure he never said another word for the whole game...:D

It's difficult for a team to perform with new players straight away, we can only improve on yesterday's result. I for one am very positive for the future with some of the things I saw yesterday.

I'm only basing this on my experience, there is a group of 4 old geezers who have sat behind me for the past 4 seasons and are the most vocally negative 'supporters' that i have come across; it has become a running joke to the people who sit near us.

They are the only people in my vacinity that boo following a negative result.

Nobody that comes to the games in our group (about 15 devoted blades fans aged between 17 and 40) ever boo and neither do the people who sit around us (except for the last of the summer wine extras i mentioned earlier).

I honestly think that the majority of those that do are the old geezers that think just because they have been following the blades since Churchill was in office they are afforded the right to say and do what they like whilst watching the blades.

Not that i have owt against coffin dodgers :)

Most my age have seen it all before, and much worse football than we see now and are resigned to United letting us down.

I would say it's more likely to be the "want it now" society.....whoever and whatever ages they are.

I accept people have a right to say as they do but I still don't like it and would not like to sit next to them during a poor film/concert or such if they boo through them.

I think it's likely to put people off coming to be honest.

I just hope that the Majority haven't already made up their mind that they don't want/like Robson and his style of management and play.
I'd prefer a manager who made a slow start and improved than a 'honeymoon period' manager who could only do it for 5 or 6 games then crashed and burned.

I never boo even the poorest display, it doesn't change anything.

UTB

I wouldn't say it was inappropriate NEVER to boo.

For instance when Adrian Heath was in charge, there was boo's ringing round, and it was understandable. His team selections were poor, his tactics were poor....... he was basically clueless. He made one good signing in Martin Smith and that was it. He had drove fans away (remember his last game when less than 10k turned up) and the future looked very bleak indeed.

The boo's weren't aimed at the team, but at the manager that needed to go before he took us down to what is now League one.

Apart from that I have never booed, nor do I intend.

As I started the thread, and therefore one that is complaining, I'll clarify about myself.

Hardly missed a home match in 38 years and I seem to have well over 8000 loyalty points which suggests a few recent away matches too.

I've spent too much money I'm afraid.

I don't think spending cash relates to booing though, people do have a choice, if they think it's so bad why bother?

It's a strange one i suppose and ultimately it comes down to the kind of person that you are; every blade fan was disappointed on saturday but only a few took it upon themselves to vocalise that disappointment.

The fact that this was the first game of the season, as much as that should be a reason for patience, probably had something to do with the surprising level of booing. Its been a close season of highs and lows the likes of which i have rarely seen, everyone has been so eager to get underway that the poor performance feels like yet another kick in the pants.

Most of us can show some decorum and wait for the peices to come together, others want the quick fix and i fear will continue to vocalise their disappointment until the results and performances improve.

i have heard a few comments about this being the first game of a new season and that probably

It is disappointing to not get a win when we expected too.....

But as Linz always says......if you go to watch United to win, rather than a football match.....maybe you need to think again.

Not aimed at you by the way.

:)

This is actually a point that interests me, i keep trying to add that i do not advocate nor take part in booing to assure people that i'm just pushing the debate rather then standing on my soap box on behalf of the boo boys.

As you say, everyone wants the blades to win but we must also accept that this will not always be the case. The majority can deal with the disappointment in a healthy/productive manner (consumption of copius amounts of alcohol) but the not so silent minority will always have their say; which they are ultimately entitled to do.

What really irked me with the boo-boys was the fact this was only the first day of the season, promotion and relegation is NOT decided on the first day. Sunderland got off to a really bad start last season and didn't pick up until about November, now look where they are, not only did they win the Championship but they also beat Spurs at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, I bet no Sunderland fan was dreaming of that last year when they were rock bottom.

Have patience, and maybe next year we could be claiming a major scalp back in the Premiership on day 1? I am, especially considering my patience is not exactly the greatest in the world.

So now you are saying only people who are drunk can cope with disappointment??

And only the sober boo??????

Whilst we're on the subject of boo-boys, does anybody remember a few seasons back when Warnock got so fed up with them he said "I think the boo-boys should bugger off to Meadowhall." or something along those lines? :)

It would have been lonely at BDTBL without the masses of warnockers, though Meadowhall's profits may have reached record levels.

I turn up wanting to see United win every single game. I don't always expect it, but I always want it. These twats booing seem to expect us to just turn up to win every game.
