From that article it doesn’t seem like Hibs have an exclusive deal and Grasshoppers are free to negotiate a “normal” transfer.

So if the Hibs deal is only £100k, why are Grasshoppers asking for €2m? Why wouldn’t they just accept say £500k when they are likely to have to sell for £100k?

Reading an article on him it sounds like he always wanted to go there. Hibs had a deal agreed for 100,000 and no one else did. 1.7m was the fee mooted for anyone else which no doubt we could afford but at that price I would guess Wilder would want a more proven option.
