That's correct Booker4, the first impressions were more than favourable, and for a little 'un he seemed fearless, note the goal at Wembley. So something caused the pale impersonation of Scoogs to take a grip, and it's down to CW to see if he can re-discover the form he showed when he joined us. Same goes for Done, down the middle, with a passport to roam when he felt like it, he looked electric and scored almost at will. So another player who needs to be played to his strengths rather than used as an 'experiment'.

Looking back on Adkins, a decent manager should have at the very least got as much out of the players as the last manager and surely improve them. So when so many got worse than I think we can put a large slice of the blame of various players poor form on Adkins. I reckon Wilder will either get an improvement on the likes of Scougall or he'll be off along with a few others next summer when they'e out of contract.

Mowbray confirmed John Fleck has decided to reject a new contract with the Sky Blues to join Sheffield United.

The 24-year-old is expected to be confirmed by the Bramall Lane club later today.

He said: “Is it disappointing? He knew how much we wanted to keep him. He wanted to go to the league above but he’s gone to a club with a greater resource than us.
”Let’s see how he goes there. If they have the resource to tempt him that appears to be what’s happened."

Seems as if they see us as a sideways step and he's only come here for the money! So they think its a case of

Whereas I reckon its more a case of

I read something on one of their boards about how Mowbray is trying to change Cov's style a bit this season...remember him last year bemoaning the 'physical nature' of L1 and the club's in it...think he included us in that also, before they stuffed us at their place.

I agree, but we probably won't get that and what I'm saying is that Scougall has the energy to fit into Wilders style. In his half season when he first joined we all thought we had a gem with Scougall.

We did .......... but then he got found out and opposition players found that they can chuck him over their shoulder without conceding a foul, so he became completely ineffective.

This is now the acid test of how ambitious our Board ACTUALLY are. It won't cost a fortune for those extra 4 /5 players that will be needed to make us competitive in this division and the wasters on the list will be gone at some point this season when they find that they're getting nowhere near a proper first team squad.

Let's see what happens now .........

UTB & FTP

On 31 January 2009, Fleck was involved in a late-night brawl in a nightclub in Glasgow's City centre even though Fleck was just 17 years old at the time.[38] On 2 August 2009 it was revealed that Fleck had been dropped from the Rangers first-team after a training ground bust-up involving a bucket of chicken, with the then assistant manager Ally McCoist.[39][40]

I heard that Charlton and Peterborough already have bids in for that bucket of chicken, while we are just sat around talking about it, typical!

I don’t think anyone thinks Montgomery was a great player. They just appreciate that he gave his all in spite of his limitations whereas people like Coutts and Baxter, despite being talented footballers didn’t give a shit about this club and took the piss out of it’s fans.

I have far more respect for Montgomery as a man. Doesn’t mean I want a player with only his attributes to be a first team regular. In fact, I remember wishing we would play Alan Quinn or Tonge at CM instead of him.

Late nights, and recreational substances seem a million miles away for a man like Monty.

Didn't we try and sign him years ago before he went to Coventry?

Yes we did, he became known as John 'Fax' Fleck.

Well bugger me with a blunt instrument....top signing.

Have we finally turned a corner with recruitment.....we shall see

Sweet. Good day for the Blades!
Think we'll enjoy watching Fleck week in week out...
