The official signing photo has not been issued yet. You'll be crying into your beer when you realise we signed his uncle Robert by mistake......

A very easy mistake to make for some of us:oops:

He stayed at Rangers mate. I believe he's still in their squad?...
Not entirely sure. Someone will be along in a minute though....

Had spells at Partick Thistle & Dunfermline before signing permanent at Queen Of The South.
Recently signed on at St Mirren.

Think it was the leg break during his last season at Rangers that's stifled his career.

Uncle Robert.
Second only to Frank McAvennie in the championing of "Wild Beever" north of the border.

Looks a great signing to me.
5 players signed and probably 1 or 2 more to come.

If Coutts thought he was in with a chance of resurrecting his career here, i reckon this signing has cooked his goose.

I remember we were leading by 2-0 (Deane and Hill) at Norwich in the opening day of the 1991-92 season but two late goals by Fleck (both volleys) spoiled our chances of a win.

In Sept 1995 Bryan Gunn got sent off at half time for arguing with the ref in the players tunnel just after Nathan Blake's equaliser in our home game against Norwich. Fleck got substituted for tactical reasons and then after that he was sat on Norwich's bench wearing his suit but it didnt take him long to dispute a linesman decision from the bench. The linesman complained about Fleck's behaviour so the ref sent him to the stands

It's going to be a grim weekend for all this sites whingers and doom merchants.

No its not mate ....... its a great weekend ....... tempered with the fact that we still need another 4/5 decent signings to make us competitive.

This is now the test for the Board and I hope, for a change, that they are up for it as well as Tufty is !! ;)

what were you going to do if the signings hadn't happened?
Probably start a thread even though there are already plenty on here moaning about the lack of signings. Fortunately for all concerned we may have a weekends grace from the afore mentioned threads. Patience is required when we have such a large squad rebuild to do (no need rush in signing any cunt whos available) We still need additional personal but the first four signing on are impressive. I personally don't believe anyone in this league has done better business including fuckin charlton.

Top signing finally a midfielder that can get around the pitch ball winning and creating like having Mongomery and Tonge in one well done Wilder!

Good signing. he used to be a proper dick but seems to have reformed. My only worry is that Basham isn't the man to play beside him.

I was going to call everyone a cunt for no reason.

Or maybe I would've just given us far less chance of success next season. Having no centre halves in place going into the friendlies would've been unacceptable and worrying. But now we've got two, which is a good enough basis to start with.

Some of the messages I got from my mate, a Cov season ticket holder (or should that be, The Cov season ticket holder?)

"Wait until after the season ticket sales number has peaked and then announce the sale of our best player. I am sick of this treatment"
"You must be delighted. He is a tremendous player"
"You're a big club with ambition. Bigger crowds. Shall I go on?"

It's not Roygbiv but it's amused me..

There's always one who spoils a party, isn't there....

From what i read. He us quite exciting prospect Coventry City Players' Player of the Year and Supporters' Player of the Year & how Tony Mowbray is pretty annoyed to lose him is good sign (which does remind me of when McDonald left us to wolves) "Is it disappointing? He knew how much we wanted to keep him. He wanted to go to the league above but he’s gone to a club with a greater resource than us. Let’s see how he goes there. If they have the resource to tempt him that appears to be what’s happened."

Also glad for "8 things you didnt know" because I was thinking last few days about a failed deadline day bid few years ago that we tried to sign him & Kyle Hutton while they were at old rangers

Top signing. Along with O'Connell, two players of the type I've been wanting us to make for a long, long time.

Credit to Wilder and all concerned.

Completely agree. Great we've taken the careful and considered time to get this one sorted, rather than rush ahead with any old signings.

We have to think what are the issues currently at SUFC and how do we make sure they don't happen again. Previous regimes giving out mega money contracts to old players, if it works out fantastic if it doesn't how do we ship them on?. No one was / is coming in for Hammond / Coutts / Woolford etc due to there age.

I think Fleck is the best signing any team in league one has made so far. But at 24 "IF" worst comes to worst and he doesn't perform someone will take a risk on him so we cannot lose.

Saying that I beleive he will be our main player next year dictating play from deep, we have a centre midfielder who actually passes forward!!!

We've just signed a centre half and paid a fee. O'Connell was outstanding in League 1 at Rochdale.

We paid a fee for Hussey too. Duffy and Hussey were both joint 7th on assists in League 1 last season; really good signings.

Fleck has come to us from a promotion rival for BETTER WAGES and presumably because he sees us having a better future than Coventry where he was awarded Players' and also Fans' Player of last season; credit to the manager for a real scoop.

Long committed to us on a renewed contract.

We are obviously close to signing McFadzean with a fee somewhere between £250k already offered and the £500k demanded by MKD manager who says "that's the minimum for the best centre half in the league".

We've paid-off Hammond ( no doubt a load of money) and Diego, it all costs money.

Knill said this week there should be another three signings within the next fortnight.

All the new players are mobile and you can see every reason to sign each and every one of them. We can already see Sharp getting better service this season and we already look better at free kicks both defensively and offensively. The balance of the squad is improving with each signing. The players have been instructed in the formation and method of playing. Everything is clear and prioritised and the players have the opportunity to committ to it all.

I think the Board and the manager are "up for it" !! Nevertheless, if a big club comes in for a player and offers to multiply his wages, we can't do anything about it. Fact of life.

Woody, you are one sentence away from a big 'like' mate. Just take out the bit about Calamity George and it's yours for the taking... .:)

Agree, and there'll be outgoings, but if that's to pay for a couple of centre halfs then surely nobody will complain because it's been too long without them..

Looking good, che or dcl leaving to pay for these important signings wouldn't be a problem, if they stop, all the better...

Who knows the budget but my view is that 10 wages have been saved already plus two lots of part wages on Hammond and Diego; Knill also expects a couple more to leave soon. After carrying something like a £6m wage bill in recent times obviously there has to be a substantial claw back from that figure. However all these current signings might well be from the current (reduced) budget and if we sell a player with a fee then that budget could well be boosted by that sum plus the savings in the player's wages.

Wilder is acting as though he is confident in his budget and we are making gains from Coventry and Bury, plus attracting a big L1 player like Duffy and also the lad from a Championship club.
