In a squad full of mediocrity we're ditching a few that will not make the grade in a situation where we cannot afford to keep up a premier league style academy (in size and facility - not quality of candidates) through our 6th year in the 3rd division.

Not come as a shock to me

Agreed in terms of trimming but it seems slightly arbitrary.

In terms of the seniors, it's only Freeman which seems a bit daft. If Brayford were to be out injured for more than a couple of games, who would fill in? The natural replacement is Freeman.

Probably opt for Flynn or Basham I expect.

Then again there is always Mcgahey :(

Problem with Flynn is that he seems to be regularly injured
Problem with Basham is that we then take a player we need from CM
Problem with MvGahey is that he can't play right back.

I think we have only actually released two of them. The others are out on loan.

We could always get someone on loan if need be. Why would Adkins keep a player if he doesn't rate him and somebody else wants him?

Good lord, what a good read with a hangover.

Having too many players round the training ground or around on match day is not good good for anyone. You have 20 players who aren't getting a game who think they should be and its not good because it makes training less competitive.

In regards to the youngsters it's another lost generation because young players need to be playing competitive football from 17/18, see walker and naughton. If they are still in your squad aged 20/21 and haven't had any experience they generally don't make it.

That is the disgrace and why our academy has stopped producing.

I'm almost 40 and I've never seen anything like this.

The future, no, we're randomly tossing off youth players

Reminds me of the chapter in Rodney Marsh,s book where he i says Alf Ramsey was doing his Pre-match team talk, Ramsey says to Marsh if you are not doing the business, i will pull you off at half time  to which Marsh replies, fuckin hell only thing we get at City at half time is half an orange (or whoever he played for at the time) :D he never played for Ramsey again

This is a fire sale. We all know we have too big a squad but this is randomly stripping out every non-first team layer possible.

Who benefit from this?

The club? no
The manager? no, why would he benefit from having less players to call on?
The future, no, we're randomly tossing off youth players

The Board, Yes, the only people who benefit from this are our chairman who are clearly selling everything possible before fucking off.

Game changing investment? We got more money out of KM on his own

We've been totally fucked over as fans. lied to and treated like shit.

It would seem we're bankrupt.

If the club IS built presently on shifting sand, then restructuring EVERYTHING is what might be needed.

The players whether young, old, 1st team. development or youth may actually be crap.

You obviously think the only thing wrong is the board - perhaps you are wrong?

Where is your evidence that the board are selling everything before fucking off?

UTB

I'd agree with your observations Fulwood Blade, robbiez666 has drawn conclusions that can't stand up to examination, but I guess that doesn't matter just as long as this manic scene is confirmed in his own mind's eye.

It's been a long held view that we're top heavy, and I wonder if robbie has considered existing contracts (what if a player chooses not to move?), the reality of who can leave first, and a variety of factors that influence the manager's decision making? As a paper exercise this topic is the simplest version of 'managing' a club there is. The reality is a very different proposition.....but hey, why spoil a good rant?
