If the club IS built presently on shifting sand, then restructuring EVERYTHING is what might be needed.

The players whether young, old, 1st team. development or youth may actually be crap.

You obviously think the only thing wrong is the board - perhaps you are wrong?

Where is your evidence that the board are selling everything before fucking off?

I think I'm most worried about the rate we're getting rid of players.

I think we can all agree that we have too many players on our books (although, oddly, the U-21 teams tend to have a lot of younger players involved)

It might be the case that we're offloading loads to sort out a problem that we've had for a few years, but I'd be worried that all the money and investment we've made in the Academy is now being snipped down to a league 1 size.

If I had confidence in the club and the Board I would see this kind of clear out as a good thing. My worry is that it's just a way of cutting the wage bill, with more emphasis on stripping back than future planning.

I hope I'm wrong.

What is the correct rate at which we should be getting rid of players? Just out of interest.

In my view with half of this lot binning 20 of them tomorrow would be slow progress.

No idea tbh but I've never seen so many players being shipped out at the same time before.

Then again, it doesn't mean that's a bad thing. It's just strange.

Give Mulder & Scully a bell, they'll sort it out, maybe an alien who knows something about football has possessed one of the board members.

We clearly have maxed out our budget and we're trying to scrape back money wherever possible to try and find a signing or two.

I wouldn't have let Ioan Evans or Otis Khan go though, a lot of potential in them two. Jamie McDonagh too.

The ones we really NEED to go I.E Higdon, Scougall aren't going anywhere though. That's the problem.
Might be a blessing in disguse though the deal makers would only end up signing a championship reject on 15k a week.

"Billy Sharp – Championship reject". You could try starting a chant of that at the next game.

and after the loan window?

Maybe use an academy player. That's what it's for, isn't it? Adkins talks regularly about having a development path for youngsters. Why not chuck an 18 year old now and again? Other clubs do it and we are in league 1. If they can't cope with it, then they aren't good enough.

As far as I'm aware we don;t have a right back who is ready to step up to first team level. It's counter-productive to chuck in a 17 year old right back and then him to have a nightmare. I'm all for giving the youngsters a chance but we've not done that all season.

yep, good measure and concerned response.

A recent survey suggests our academy is the 15th best in the league - still not bad for a club in division 1.

We have to cut the wage bill and hopefully let Adkins manage the club from the bottom up. Lets be fair, Clough was supposed to do this - in fact he said so much, then proceeded to build a large, very average squad.

This season isn't over by a long way - and even today's results have gone for us - it highlights that 2 wins v Swindon and Blackpool would have made a hell of a difference. For a while now we just KEEP missing opportunities, but today has shown that the season is far from over.
