Far better today despite the result

A few in clearly imperative but people really do need to their nerve.

Football is often a game of small margins.

That performance today felt very reminiscent of many games the last time we were in this division. Opposition with everyone behind the ball, us dominating possession but struggling to create.

Then a bit of sloppiness and a bit of bad luck and there you go.

Really need to give the manager time rather than panicking and whingeing.

We can all see the areas in need of improvement and I'm pretty sure our staff can.
I’d agree and time needed but what concerns me more is the amount of new bodies we need in before month end to change it.

1st half more promising but my god was it against a poor side. Plenty of possession further up the field (but nothing like the press wba or Birmingham put on us). They let us have it on that area and we couldn’t break them down.

Absolutely no signs of the incisiveness and clear cut chance creation which is needed.

Whilst I agree with giving the new management time, there are some worrying and seemingly very obvious issues not being addressed or at least an attempt made.

There’s no link between midfield and attackers. We need new players but the likes of Freeman showed more in 18 mins at wba than anyone else has. Is he not fit? Why did he not get a run out today when it was screaming out for creativity and someone the break lines, take a man on and transition play forward.

Main concern no.2 for me is awareness of when changes are required. Almost oblivious management to this and like for like replacements in bizarre positions.
Berge knackered but not replaced today, creativity needed but swaps RND for Ossy? Bizarre choices. Thinking back to wba and how they play, no Mcburnie starting to assist with defensive set pieces? Conceding that and how slow wba are at the back, we play our two slowest forwards. There’s some extremely odd decisions there which need to be accounted for.

Our flat midfield gave us loads of possession, but when did any of them break into the box? In defence of our front two (who weren’t great), they were facing 3 centre halves who had absolutely nothing else to distract them at all. Until our midfield and wide men offer a threat, we’ll be easy to stop.

It’s partly tactical (flat 3), and partly the players being horrifically unsuited. Buy some wingers and attacking midfielders and do it a year ago!
I think you could have Berge breaking from midfield, but who covers? Fleck? Norwood? Freeman? This squad is horrifically unbalanced.

Final ball let us down. And daft mistakes.
Smash and grab from cleckuddersfax. Not bitter, but f off back to that utter dump.

I agree with the OP that we were much better today than the previous matches.

However at the same time the way we performed reminded me exactly how we played under Wilder. Still plenty of sideways and backwards passing, and still too much over passing on the flanks rather than being more urgent/incisive to get it into the box.

Don't get me wrong I have nothing against Slav as none of this is really his fault and its still too early in the season, but while at the game today it struck me that Wilder could easily have just been stood in the technical area instead as if we hadn't changed manager!

I wouldn't say today was 'better' but more 'comfortable in doing the only thing that they know' eg Wilderball.

I'm actually a little annoyed at Slav not that we lost, but the fact he reverted back to the same old spray it high and wide and put 10,000 aimless crosses into the box.

We all mostly accepted that change would take time, but to then suddenly give up on it is a bit of a letdown.

Ah well, for all those saying he should play them in the system they know, until he brings his replacements in, at least we can see he has tried that now. Better than the last outing but still not set the world on fire, and against very poor opposition.
