Anyone (ITK?) with any info to confirm or otherwise whether Egan is out for the rest of the season, as is being rumoured!

I think it was linked to an Alan Nixon post earlier today about United looking for a long term Egan replacement

Probably be the season. We're going to have to start thinking who else can play CB if 1 of the 3 get injuries. McBurnie? Souza? Slimane? And I'm not joking.

Anyone know what Kean Bryan is upto these days ?
We joke about this but we actually had a PL season where he played a fair bit. Now we joke about it when Wilder was getting results!

It does present us the opportunity to build a defence without Basham and Egan.

Bash is 35 now and there must be some doubts for his future.

Egan has had a difficult season so far. Having an alternative wouldn't be the worst thing.

I like Anel more in the centre at this level, which means Trusty probably would play on the right.

However due to this it may well mean Trusty ends up in the centre.

It will be interesting to see what we do in January. Or indeed what we do when one of them is unavailable.

Looks like we're shopping in the free agent bin then. Must be someone we could sign as a back up?
Somebody text Jags and tell him to dust his boots off.

Free agents can't be registered in 25 man squad till January now as well.

So I would say we won't go down that route and look at foreign loan or Championship.

What's our Plan B?

I'm less fussed about jettisoning 3-5-2 than some because I think the turnover of possession, which is nothing to do with the formation, would pretty much undermine any set up, likewise absence of basic defending when we have three centre backs doesn't reassure me that we'd be better with one less in there.

That said, we are a suspension away from not being able to meet the basic requirement of 3-5-2, at least with recognized centre backs.

So what do we go for? Do we start looking for people who could play centre back? Or do we hone in on a formation and if so, with others dropping like flies, what?

Let's say Robbo puts in one tasty challenge too many and we have Baldock back from injury as the only change.

That gives us:
G - Wes, possibly Dewhurst drafted in.
D - Baldock. Bogle, Anel, Trusty, Thomas, Larouci
M - Norwood, Souza, Hamer, McAtee, Slimane, Fleck
F - McBurnie, Archer, Brewster, Traore

I think I'd be inclined to play 4-1-4-1 or 4-4-1-1.

We don't have N'Diaye anymore, but in the current set up, the closest we have are probably McAtee and Hamer.

With that in mind for 4-4-1-1, I'd be looking at:

Wes
Baldock Anel Trusty Thomas
Bogle Norwood Hamer Larouci
McAtee
McBurnie

For 4-1-4-1:

Wes
Baldock Anel Trusty Thomas
Souza
Bogle Norwood Hamer McAtee
McBurnie

I think adding pace out wide in Larouci and Bogle backed up by proper defensively minded fullback may be the way to go.

That said, I would not be against taking Thomas out and putting Robbo in there or Trusty there and Robbo in the centre of needs be.

Either way, we can't go too much longer without a plan B.

I think Sophie Websters boyfriend was the relegation season wasnt he

Though he wasn’t awful last I remember he did his ACL as soon as he jointed West Brom

There genuinely is a curse that’s been put on this club regarding injuries after Covid 🤣

Why do you rate shite players from that horrid season BTW? Ampadu now Bryan.

Burke was decent I suppose

No it’s since Hecky was in charge.

He was half decent Bryan in the relegation season decent enough for West Brom to want him

Ampadu has proven to be a good player if you don’t agree go watch the wales highlights from last night where he dominated a midfield of kovacic/modric 🤷‍♂️

Ampadu would be an upgrade on all our midfielders Bar Hamer

Ampadu had 10 fired up passionate players around him who put everything into that game and probably played their best game of the season
Ampadu was probably the weakest in the tackle and closing down but used the ball well
