Egan isolating

Not quite sure how it works anymore, but if he returns a couple of negative tests is he alright to play? Surely everyone who's come into contact with someone who tested postive hasn't isolated otherwise Liverpool would have had to forfeit the other week when Mane and Thiago had it?

Yes, but that’s Liverpool - they are allowed to have their own rules.

Yeah if Egan is deemed to be in close contact he is out for 2 weeks if the rules the rest of the country are following but I did think that footballers were under different rules? Maybe if he has a negative test on the eve of the game he can play? No idea anymore.

Could mean Didzy, Burke and Egan out next week. Just Stevens, Fleck, McBurnie, Ampadu, Berge and Ramsdale to get injured now!
Don’t tempt fate , please !!

Just shoot me now. This season can go fuck itself already.

I imagine the club will pay for private tests for him throughout the week. If he's negative in the next 7 days I don't see any reason why he wouldn't play. The difference between "normal" people is that they aren't in a position to get daily tests so isolate as a precaution rather than wasting testing services.

That said everything and everyone is mad at the moment so he will probably miss the season.

Unusual for things to conspire against the Blades .

I don’t remember it happening before in my time following them .

:)
Yep me neither, we‘ve obviously used up all our jammyness over the last few decades and it’s come back now and bitten us on the bum. The good news is that if the same rule applies over at S6, a meteor the size of a Fiat 500 should be obliterating the Sty anytime now. :)

He hasn't tested positive apparently, so the way I see it, if he has a negative PCR test when he gets back, and then a blood antibody test to show that he hasn't had it, he should be clear to play.

It can take 14 days from contact to develop the virus, however you'd still be contagious within those 14 days, hence the quarantine duration. Similar to Chicken Pox, you're contagious before the symptoms develop.

Unfortunately I suspect that means being tested daily up to Fulham might be irrelevant 😕

Who’s the ‘squad member’ he’s been into contact with? Surely they can name the player?

What I don’t understand is why is it just four other players who’ve got to isolate. The player or staff member who’s tested positive has surely been into contact with the whole squad, and not just four others?

True but you can still test positive when you're aysmptomatic. I don't know though. Fed up of hearing the word "Covid" now

I'm so fed up of the bad luck we are having with the injuries and now this. I feel absolutely dejected and fortunately, it's not my job to raise the spirits in the dressing room like Wilder has to. I'm pretty sure he'll feel like the weight of the world is on his shoulders, especially after the poor decisions but he can't show it.

Honestly, this complete nightmare CAN become a dream. If we null and void the season now, only 4 games in out of the 38 (so hopefully wouldn't go to PPG) we would get to start again after our players are back and fit again and have had a 'proper' pre season. Also, Villa and Leeds would be in the mud. Fingers crossed, I say. It's not like we are actually in the grounds to watch the football any way.

Whats betting that in a few weeks time, premier league games start getting postponed. Season already tight in terms of fixture schedule. Might have to bin season off. I wouldn’t object.
It's perfectly fine when we're getting fucked over, you see.

As soon as Fernandes goes down with COVID, and Man U lose, then they'll be looking at mass postponements. After all it just wouldn't be fair on Hank in the US, David in Nigeria and Gary in China to not be able to see their team at full strength!

These Covid testing rules just dont make sense. My son's football coach - his son was suspected with Covid on a Friday, rang up was told to isolate whole family for 7 days and booked a test. Drove to a drive thru test Saturday, was told results be available within 5 days, Sunday midnight emailed saying result negative dont need to isolate anymore.

So surely if Egan tests negative thats it he is fine. Same was when they were testing post lockdown. Test Monday, result comes back negative, can play. That quick ?

I`m hearing all sorts of variations on what is happening.

Unless Egan has it he will be available, we’ll just get him tested, West Ham had a similar issue with Soucek during the last set of pointless international games but he played.

Yeah, surely this is right? Us cretins can’t access tests so easily which is why we need to isolate. Egan will just need to get tested. It’s nice to overreact sometimes I get it, but not sure it’s necessary here. Even those suggesting Jags will play, did you just forget the fairly assured performance from Ampadu a couple of weeks ago?

That looks like Egan, didzy and Burke could be missing

Burke sent home injury unspecified

Brewster needs conditioning but Wilder may have his hand forced

Maybe, but my understanding is that he might have it, but might not test positive up to 14 days after contact. So testing negative within those first 14 days isn't any sort of guarantee.

The luck we’ve had with injuries/players out over the past couple of seasons has been remarkable.

We’ll be reyt - why is everybody so dramatic 🤣 Hope the gaffer can keep his shit together.

Don't think it will matter when we are in a second national lockdown through Xmas...
😟😔
