How many of you actually expected us to go 7 unbeaten this season and not drop a few easy points at home?

We’ve lost a game due to having an off day against a team with 11 men behind the ball and a hoof to Andy Carroll as an out ball.

Now everyone’s fallen out with football, Bash is shit, Sharp and McBurnie are shit, our midfield isn’t creative enough, Wilder has no plan b blah blah blah.

If we win a couple we’ll be back to the world beaters. It’s inevitable we’ll be in a relegation scrap this season. All of the “we’ll get into Europe” folk just needed a reality check.

Stop with the knee jerking and realise that we are what we are, it will make the ups and down easier to manage.

Newcastle were the first team to show us massive respect and do to us what we have been doing to other teams. What makes it bitter is the way the 2nd goal happened.

Thought we started off, lacklustre and chilled as if we were playing a club from the lower orders, and given that we have matched Chelsea, L’pool and Newton Heath we were doing them a favour by just playing against them. Big mistake, caught cold and payed the price , learning experience. Plus a number of players were off their game, Norwood, Lunny, Fleck, Bash.

Their shithousing, sorry, “game management”, did piss me off though

Agree it’s annoying to be on the wrong side of it, but if we aspire to being an established top flight team, we need to improve. Better game management, and we’d have got three points off Man Utd.

But last week and the week before the PL was the best place to be despite VAR. Now it's shit, can't have it all.

VAR didn't score for them last night, we lost a header in midfield and didn't track the runner.

Very true, I turned my laptop off last night as soon as the final whistle blew because I knew what it would be like on here. I don't get some of our fans, we are becoming as deluded as some we openly mock. We have our faults as a team but if we set up like Newcastle did (& others I could mention), I would be ashamed. I don't think we were awful, we had chances that couldn't beat a 'keeper in fine form after picking our way through a 10 man defence, it was always going to happen at some point & in many ways it was a carbon copy of some our games in the Championship coming against a team that park the bus. We haven;t found the key to that particular puzzle yet but we need to otherwise visiting teams will adopt the same tactics.
We are only 15 games into our 1st season back in the big league & so far we have exceeded all expectations, but there is a long way to go & we are kidding ourselves if we thought it would be anything but a hard slog to survive, & that doesn't mean we are a bad team but lessons must be learned quickly & we must keep behind the team & as fans show a little backbone when things get tough.

I don't think we'd have scored if we'd been playing all night. So very slow and predictable in that second half.

we were off pace but still created good chances and on another day score those , the VAR incident killed the game .
As the OP says , what do some of our fans expert , to win and play amazingly every game ? because that isnt going to happen

and have they been in a bloody coma for 3 years and still think we are playing BUry , Southend etc in league 1 ?

people behind me were appalling all night slating and blaming mcburnie for everything and the whole team are all 'crap' apparently

some of our fans are becoming deluded because we have been in and around 6th place for a few weeks
we will go on a bad run at some stage and we may well flirt near the bottom 3 BUT we have been absolutely brilliant so far this season and NUFC came with a very strict game plan and nulified us and parked the bus a la pigs

A few on here suggesting we deserved to lose. I disagree as I thought we were the far better team and again played some lovely football, especially in the first half. But then again, of course I'm biased.

I thought mcburnie played well, nearly scored a few and probably his most effective performance so far.

For me the midfield got crowded out and we didn't cross it quick enough, however they still parked 9 behind the ball.

But we did look like scoring at 0-1. Their keeper made at least two excellent saves that I can remember, one from McBurnie's header, one from Norwood's free kick.
I admit their second 'goal' in effect ended the game for us.

This is the best team we have had in my lifetime. We have a squad of players who give everything every game and despite plenty of dodgy decisions going against us we are currently in the top half of the league. Last night was arguably our worst display of the season but with better finishing could've exceeded the Burnley scoreline. There is seriously no other team at the moment that I would rather be a fan of. Certainly not Newcastle who have spent a fortune on forwards that only seem able to dribble into dead ends, and play ten men behind the ball and aimlessly hoof the ball in the vague direction of the jurassic Carroll. Norwich is not a must win game. Even if we don't win we will still be well above them. I expect us to turn up, have a go at them. I just don't get the negativity. If you can't enjoy the good times then what is the point of going.?

Think this is something very similar to our first season back in "La Liga" when t'other idiots called us a pub team etc etc, great start slighly sloppy December but then we settled and hey ho...didn't turn out too bad after that, we are still finding our feet and we will have learned a hell of a lot from last night.
