Many years ago life was much simpler
There was a manager - who picked the team, bought the players, coached the team, ran training sessions and spoke to the newspapers
And there was a 'Trainer' who ran onto the field with a bucket and sponge
Full Stop !!!

In todays world we have Wealthy Foriegn Owners,CEO's,Financial Directors, Directors of Football. First Team Coach, Defence Coach, Striker Coach, Agents and Goalkeeper Coaches, Physios, etc etc etc

I know we are hard up but do we not have a goalkeeper coach?
I know Andy Leaning used to be the g/k coach (not a great advert i know!) but has anyone replaced him

Simonsen can't carry on making the same basic errors week in week out - Haven't we a goalkeeper coach that could put in a wise word or two?
If we have a goalkeeper coach already he is obviously not very good!!!

I could coach Simmo. Just boot the ball in the air and shout "catch it" for seven hours a day.

JD - Available for hire.

Exactly, it's not rocket science
It's not that long ago Hodgy was doing the same for Coventry before the game at the Lane (Jonathon Gould was the keeper I think)

Just seen the brief highlights on I-Player (Football league show, 45 mins in). It's Simmonsen's decision making for me that cost us two points - there's no way he should have come for that ball. The Orient player had his back to goal, we had two defenders on him, and two back on the line. I'll let Bergen do the in-depth, but there really wasn't too much danger going on there for me.

A Donny Rovers supporting friend of mine who was a good amateur goalie wrote the following to me after seeing the Owls
equaliser on TV:

Not a good result on Sunday, when I saw the goals I reckon you were robbed, deffinate foul on your goalkeeper, though I was coached never to go out into a crowd of players when there were more than two.

If the crowd were all blades defenders,he'd still come out and fuck it up.UTB

I'm petty sure we have one but not sure who it is. But anyway we can't blame him for Simos problems as it's decision making which IMO can't be taught or changed at simmos age and experience.

Paul Crichton's our goalkeeping coach. He was dire as a a keeper. Had the majority of his career at Grimsby Town i think.

Crichton was appointed goalkeeping coach at the start of 2010/2011 season.
Coincidentally(?) around the time that Simonsen changed from the confident, competent keeper we had on loan to the indecisive flapper we have today.

Actually, if I remember correctly Crichton was an indecisive flapper himself !

So not long to wait before he spoils George Long as well then?
Simmo has lost his bottle. That cant be coached out of him.

I had a strange moment in my dream last night when I discovered that we'd released Simo, only for him to be picked up by Blackburn. Naturally, he was enjoying a bit of a renaissance and was being touted for the England squad.
