So he's even coming on against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby now?

Ohhhh my word what a mistake we've made.... £1.4m... from a PL club!
I'm waiting for the bulls ass / banjo statistic to be broken before I get worked up about substitute appearances / nearly getting near the ball.

Kept the ball when he had it and cleared two good looking corners with his head. Made one rash lunge in on Milner which could've cost them. koeman said he wanted to bring him on much earlier in the second half in his presser. Injuries changed his thinking. Everton looked knackered in the second half.

They had one sub to use in the second half and they brought him on ahead of Cleverley and even Mirallas. That's incredible. It has to mean something.

The only thing I hope it means is we have an appearence clause and he hits it pronto to generate more cash our way.

Let's wait and see what it means - no need for predictions. I thought DCL was wank at that time and we'd done a great deal. I could be wrong, but I'm waiting for more than a few sub appearances to draw any conclusion.

I'm sure that he wasn't going to cut it as a regular for us this season, and that the money we got helped us to build this current squad. I'm more than happy with that.

If he was still with us I reckon he'd be out on loan at another league 1 side. Crazy that he's getting premier league football.

Got to admit he seemed to run around,a bit like he didn't really know what he was doing.

Having said that I'm sat here watching Family guy, talking on a football forum to people I've never met in me 15 year old Le coq sportif house shorts I'm hardly in a position to question Ronald Koeman. Also This wasn't against Leyton Orient in the cup this was 10 mins V arsenal and 25 mins against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby. Koeman didn't see DCL as a Cameo but a game changer.. good luck to the lad. One of those deals that is good for everyone

I still hope he goes further than the repulsive jug-eared cunt at Birmingham. I would say more about what I hope happens with his career but I'd end up getting a load of (self) righteous indignation from the curtain-twitchers on this forum.

Either they are carrying knocks or Koeman has Clough like fallen out with them. I can't believe he thought DCL was a better option got that role he got him to play.

I'd prefer to talk about the potential of David Brooks......

No idea what Everton saw in him to pay £1.4m and still don't now. It was a real mystery to me tbh.

Looked sadly out of his depth tonight.

He's an exceptional athlete. By which I don't just mean fast - he's nimble and can leap. But no-one has seen any football sense from him in the grown up game as yet, only in the age groups.

Football is all about decisions.

Would DCL be picked ahead of Sharp? No.

Would he offer the dynamic of playing high up the pitch through exhausting running like Done? No.

Would he provide the physicality of Clarke? No.

Lavery, early to comment.

Would he provide the quality of Evans (if we were to go in for him)? No.

Wilder had to make a decision and whilst long term is great to keep in view, our immediate objectives are to get out of this division and we can't base that around a few potentially handy cameos at the expense of money which can be used to strengthen the team throughout and has permitted us to add depth to the squad and the quality of Fleck, Duffy etc.

That's just my view but I think Chris got his priorities right on this one.

Agree, think we've covered our bases if he turns into a real good one with add ons too. Hopefully he progresses through the England setup and continues to trigger them.

Good luck to the lad. Brought on with 20 mins to go to play wide right & with Everton under the cosh he saw very little ball. But I thought it said volumes of how Everton see his aerial ability that he was given the near post area (key position) to defend at the first corner - which he cleared with good header. As I say, good luck to him.

£1.4m for a lad who could not and was not in L1 starting 11........

We have spent the money wisely and after 6 years look like getting out of this division..... I think it is cracking business. The only thing we should concern ourselves with is getting out of this division and if we had to sell 5 young lads and half a team a little bit on the cheap side to generate funds to enable us to build a promotion winning side then so be it.

If we get where we want to be and DCL turns out to be worth £20m in the future, then who really gives a shit.

I've no issue with getting rid, I understand our situation. I do wonder though that if a PL club thinks a player is worth buying, whether we couldn't negotiate better add-ons. I know that can be sometimes at the cost of the payment up front and we needed the money but would £1.5m plus £500k if he plays x number of times, £500k if he plays in Europe and £500k if he plays for England be that big a burden to Everton? They'd still have only paid £3m for a player worth ten times that, at least.

That said, it's probably irrelevant but if Everton think he's good enough to be making appearances, £1.4m does seem a little low.

That's what sell on clauses are for (and we no doubt have).

Hypothetically, if DCL becomes this great player (which I really don't see) then he can leave Everton for £5 mill, £10 mill, whatever, and we will get 20% of that. It really is win-win.

Even a figure like 6M add on if x number of starts in first season would be a bargain for PL side.

How do you know we haven't got said add-ons?

I said the sales of DCL and Adams looked like good business at the time and so far I've seen nothing to make me change my mind.

It's about the here and now, not what may or may not happen in the future.
